Okay newbie mom being annoying again, how the heck do I find out if there are going to be new signature dolls?Do you mean rereleases of the originals, like Frankie and Clawdeen and such, or new releases of some of the dolls that haven't had a signature release with a diary and pet yet? I don't know of any of the latter coming out this year, but I do know that an "Original Favorites" assortment with signature Frankie, Draculaura, and Clawdeen has been appearing in various places around the world. I think it was recently released in Europe and will supposedly be making its way here to New Zealand in August. Don't know if it will be released in the States.
Also how hard is to find some of early ones?Depends on what you're after. Most of the sought after early ones can only be found for exorbitant prices on ebay and the like.
Generally, the older the doll, the harder it can be to find it (excluding going on eBay). Especially for the ones that haven't been re-released or were out for a short amount of time (such as the Dawn of the Dance ones, Signature Cleo/Deuce, Skull Shores Gil Webber, Holt Hyde, ect.). Plus, boy dolls are hard to find in general since they tend to only come maybe one or two in a box/case and end up being the first ones taken out of an assortment.
Also how hard is to find some of early ones?
I finally got PD Cleo! Now if only I could find Jinafire ANYWHERE. There's a bajillion Skelitas around, but Jina eludes me...

I managed to get a Jinafire last week. They had two in the store then.
It was a toss up between her and Clawdeen but I'm glad I got Jina, she's gorgeous.
Just saw pics of Catty Noir after being away from the forum for the weekend... rather disappointed that she's slathered in pink. I got tired of it from MLP, and it's part of the reason why I originally liked MH, it used many different colors in fun and creative designs... but if you wanted lots of pink, you could buy a Draculaura. Now we also have Cupid, Rochelle (to a lesser extent), Howleen starting to have pink hair, the genie girl and the new werecat with it... don't get me wrong, I like pink in moderate doses. I'm just thinking it's starting to become a bit overkill.

I know what you mean.. it does seem like a lot of pink... My favorite color is green.... So... well green and blue (probably why I like Frankie's eyes so much)... if I ever have enough money to set aside and get one of these faceups I would... she is amazing!!

I'm wondering this too. Right now we have the first 4 PD as the Wave 10 case (2x Draculaura, 2x Abbey, 1x Spectra, 1x Cleo) and also as the Wave 10 Revision 1 case (2x Draculaura, 1x Abbey, 2x Spectra, 1x Cleo). This is according to Entertainment Earth, which doesn't have the new 3 up anywhere yet. I kind of think that they might entirely replace the old four, like pukunui said, with the new case being 2x each of Lagoona, Frankie, Operetta. Either called Wave 11 or Wave 10 Revision 3...
But that's just a guess. In any case, if you want all 4 of the first ones equally, I'd nab Cleo first, and Lala last. :)

I wanna say that TRU had a coupon (either via email or Facebook, I wanna say the latter) where you could get the SS Frankie for $4.13 (or at least cheaper than their normal TRU price for her) that weekend (the 13th to the 15th). I could be wrong, though. ^^;
I remember that! There was a limit of six I think or maybe less than that. I have a bunch of the SS Frankies because I was going to customize them by painting her eyes a different color of the rainbow and dressing her in that color as well as attempt to put the same color in her hair. The reason I was concerned is that I'm 4 hours away from a Walmart, and have no idea when I'm going to be able to get to a store that carries dolls. With the speculation that the Wave 2 dolls will completely replace Wave 1, I was worried that wave 1 stock would be dwindling by the time I could get to a store. But I'm good now, my boyfriend told me that it was okay for me to order a few dolls from Amazon.com and send them to his house. So I got Scaris Rochelle, PD Draculaura, PD Cleo, and PD Spectra.
All of those are on sale on Amazon right now by the way, for $16.99, except Cleo who is $18.86.
Does anyone's Targets have the Apptivity figures on clearance? I'm hoping to get two Lagoonas, but none of the stores near me have them on clearance and I don't want to pay $10 a piece for 'em. D:

^This! Because she only ships one per case, she is a lot harder to find in a sea of Spectra, Draculaura and Abbey who ship two per case depending on which case it is. Supply and demand is also a huge variable. Draculaura could be super popular in my area and is nowhere to be seen, but in your are she could be overflowing the shelves.

i just want to confirm....the swim class girls are being distributed much like the DT2 girls.....not in the main chains (ie: Target, Walmart, TRU) but rather in the smaller stores?

That is correct! They will be in smaller chain stores like Meijer, Kohl's, Justice, etc. I saw two of the Green eyeshadow Venus at a Justice yesterday. If you have a Barnes and Noble nearby, you could always check there. :)

I haven't seen the harpy or siren cam sets anywhere either and I really want to get those too.yeah, Mattel sucks at distribution! I ended up ordering the Harpy and Siren from their site...paid 8$ for shipping, but it was worth it, because I have yet to see either in stores, not even my TRUs have ever had them as far as I know...I hope eventually she'll(Clawdeen) show up in their store as well. i've never heard of a dollar general selling them. i've checked both of mine at random just to make sure i wasn't missing something but there were never any. finally i asked a clerk at each store and they both told me they don't sell them.

Swim Venus: All I've seen (which hasn't been many, thanks Michigan :rolleyes:) have been the Signature face-up. I hope to one day find out how many of each were produced and all the numbers that go along with that. I find varients to be super interesting :blush:This is me too. The only ones I've seen so far have been the sig faceup. And I've seen quite a few. I'd like to find one of the "correct" ones with the pink lips.
They didn't have a single box left, but I've heard dance class and swim class.Went by ALDI to pick up groceries, and their Monster High display was absolutely destroyed. I feel kinda bad for all the barbies that got caught in the crossfire.
Which line did Aldi have? Mine doesn't have any MH dolls right now. They had RM back before Christmas, but they didn't last too long. I go there pretty often since I only live about a mile away and it's easier to run there for milk or bread than it is to go the 5 miles to Walmart.

DT Lagoona is cute, but I already have her original DT release. I might have to get that top, though. It's awesome. DT Spectra is pretty. And I love Robecca's Victrola.
I had mentioned how frankie's eyes seemed funny to me when he in the box picture first came out. I guess I wasn't crazy and it's eye wonk? I still don't really understand what that term means. Can someone explain please?Wonky eyes are eyes that have been painted on in the wrong place. It's an all too common flaw with these dolls. One eye might be higher than the other, or further to the left or right. Sometimes both eyes are down on their cheeks or up on their eyebrows. Sometimes one eye is noticeably larger than the other.
Hmm..so what's the case with this particular Frankie though?Her right eye looks to be a little too close to her nose compared to her left eye. Her scar is right up under her eye too, which is unusual.

It looks like her right eye was printed too close to her nose, tilted a smidge, and a TINY bit further down.

She does! You can see it underneath her sleeping mask and in her ponytail. It's hard to see because it's a very dark color and pretty much blends in with the black. :)
are the DT 3 going to be in the Big Retail stores or are they going to be like the DT2 line and only be in small chain stores?

Robecca, mh.. she's okay. Doesn't rock my world, but isn't bad either. I just think they're slowly losing her steampunk theme, which saddens me a bit.
Lagoona's clothes have nothing on her first DT version. Again they used this bright pink and blue with black combo on her and I'm not a fan of that.
PS: Die-ner Lala is a cutie! For the first time I find the "buckteeth" look on her endearing ^^

Yeah, I will be a grumpy kitty if we don't get these up here! I'll have to pester you all for help finding them because the more I look at them, the farther up my priority list they fly! :lovey: I am in love with their faces, love Robecca's lips and Lagoona's candy-pastels and Spectra's pale purples... she does have samey makeup but I really like the more pale shades for her. She's like a pastel version of her sig. Love love love.
The one thing that suggests to me that they may be regular wide-release DT is that their slippers have painted details like DT1 did. DT2 had single-colour/non-painted slippers (= cheaper = budget-small-store-only line? Do the Swim dolls also have unpainted plastic accessories?) Possibly means nothing, but hey, I cling to shreds of hope! :biggrin:

ST Clawdeen and SS Clawdeen are here!!! They're both so gorgeous, but I was so scared when I saw the box for SS Clawdeen. This is how she looked when I took her out of the bubble wrap. :cry:Scary, but at the same time, makes me think: "IS that a good way to ship them without having them becoming damaged???" They'd be curled up and wrapped in bubble wrap, so it wouldn't cause any damage, and if they were staying straight, they'd be possibly bent and folded that it could break something. >,<;

After weeks of having it, I finally busted open my werecat fearleading pack yesterday morning. I needed to get them open cuz the uniforms and accessories were being sent off in a trade, and I'm going to sell of my extra twins. But poor little Toralei is going to be a nudist for a while on my shelf. She still looks pretty though.....my little nudist werecat.
But I wonder, since she is started to get some releases now, if they will have a new Toralei fashion pack?

Thinking about selling the Scary Tales doll. they are adorable, but they are so different in style from the rest of the dolls..I held off buying the Scary Tales for this exact reason. Then I thought I'd just get Clawdeen. Then I bought Frankie for my Mom (who's loves the dolls too). So of course I had to get Draculaura so we'd have the set. Let this be a lesson: that stuff be fragile! It doesn't look too bad, worst comes to worst I can always take it all off and paint the leopard pattern on the scalp instead.
I have seen the swim dolls quite a bit now since they came out. Kmart always has them and I have seen them at Barnes and Noble and Justice. I got them when I first got them so I have Venus with the pink makeup and really want to get the green. However, I am having trouble convincing myself to buy the same doll again for just a makeup change. I was disappointed when I opened up the one I got because she did look just like sig and I like that each doll has new makeup. I have thought about selling the first one but I don't want to do that in case she becomes hard to find later and worth more than retail (I know shouldn't think that way but I do).
I might have to give myself a doll limit soon. I will move in 2,5 months and my new room will be smaller than the one i have now... Maybe like max 3 per character (LOL). But that will be super hard because I have 3 Frankies and I really want her PD version as well...

My local Sainsburys has lots of RM and Scaris right now but Argos has a bigger variety, though a number of them were either out of stock or had limited stock when I had a look.
I've only seen one Deuce and he came home with me.
This is the first kitty doll I've had a chance at getting. I wasn't into them when Toralei came out (and now I can't find or afford her) and while Meowlody and Purrsephone look amazing I'm hesitant to drop £30 on the twin pack (which is still available here).
Right now the only dolls I really want are Dot Dead Gorgeous Operetta (hopefully soon), Catty Noir and then waiting for a re-release of one of the boys with proper hair (not that I don't love Deuce, but it would be nice to have a boy with hair).
Hmm, she might be a tiny bit taller than Spectra in the pic, but, she also has big hair, that might create that effect. On the other hand if she's a pop singer she might be older than the other ghouls, so Nefera mold is possible!I'm betting she is Nefera's mold, because Spectra's eyes only come up to Catty's nose, so she is noticeably shorter

As much as I would love her to be on the bigger body I wouldn't count on it just because of how she is in the artwork; if that was the case Lala would be the same size as Howleen (that would be wicked cute!)

Considering the average MH doll price is $20, and you have about 200. That's like $4000 over the course of your time collecting. Buuuuut, in CA, the average price of cigarettes is $5.71. Lets estimate your husband smokes a pack every 2 days, that's about $20 a week x 52 weeks = $1040 per year. Times that by how many years he's been smoking...and well, who is really wasting more money in the long run??I have a question. My husband likes to count them every so often so he can tell people stuff like "my wife has over 200 (insert appropriate curse word) dolls... can you believe that man??" I lol over it... he smokes (outside and NOWHERE near my dolls!!) but hey, thats his thing... mine is dolls.. :biggrin:

Hmm, she might be a tiny bit taller than Spectra in the pic, but, she also has big hair, that might create that effect. On the other hand if she's a pop singer she might be older than the other ghouls, so Nefera mold is possible!I'm betting she is Nefera's mold, because Spectra's eyes only come up to Catty's nose, so she is noticeably shorter
Do the clothes of other ghouls fit Nefera, since she has a different mold?
As much as I would love her to be on the bigger body I wouldn't count on it just because of how she is in the artwork; if that was the case Lala would be the same size as Howleen (that would be wicked cute!)

Damn! I thought I'd scored a good loose Scaris Cleo on ebay only to find out the seller was using the same photo for all his auctions. There was no indication in the title or description that the doll in the photo was not the doll up for auction, and when I pointed this out and asked for photos of the actual doll, the seller got all angry because I'd "questioned his honesty" and said he would've sent me photos if I hadn't done so but because I had he didn't want to sell to me. I wish there was some way I could report him for false advertising, but that doesn't seem to be one of the options. *grumble grumble*
On a different note, I noticed the other day that my signature Ghoulia's pink zipper earrings have bigger posts than most of the other dolls' earrings, meaning that if I try to put some other earrings in her ears, they just fall out because the holes are too big. Did you get the swim dolls over in Germany? None to be seen here and I have been cruising my local stores, while picking up dolls for members and I just noticed that the DDG wave II seemed to just vanish. They aren't available in any webstores either. They were here for maybe... 2 months or so. You still have them in Germany?

All Lagoonas are like that. They are clear for the fins and webbed fingers and then they are painted.

I caved and bought the Scaris 2-pack. This is my very first cleo! I originally wanted a cleo-free collection, but after I saw the special I felt guilty shipping Deuce with Rochelle. Garrot and Rochelle were just too cute! Plus even though Deuce was a weanie it finally got me to embrace the "Cleuce" thing. Lagoona was barely out of the box for ten minutes before her head was in a pot of boiling water, and now I'm loving her with plain old straight hair! ^.^

It's actually mine. :P I would NEVER put my watermark on anyone else's picture even as a joke/statement, esp when the photo's original owner roams the area I'd post it. I made a new backdrop a few days ago and wanted to take several more pictures (both MH and other dolls) for a "huge" picture spam before posting them. Was supposed to be a surprise but I just blew it for myself. >_<; D'oh
My Target is still full of Gloom Beach and Skull Shores 5 packs. If I bought Gloom Beach just so I can have Ghoulia how easy would it be to sell off the others? Although I'm loving Clawdeen's outfit.

Facebook has removed all the ones I've reported. I found a number of other pages that were using my pics without permission as well. That seems to be the only real option, as there's the whole "lost in translation" issue plus these kids for the most part don't like being caught out. They've been removing all the comments and blocking all the people who were making them. Such little brats.
When I called out one page for stealing my photo of Flint taking a picture of Rochelle, the response I got (before I was blocked from the page) was that she'd found it on a blog. Yes, it was featured on the Gory Gazette blog. I think that is the answer ... these kids are trawling tumblr and other Facebook pages and when they see a pic they like, they download it and then upload it to their page without bothering to see that the original post had a link back to the source.

But it doesn't matter because I FOUND them! Last set:) That was the first time I saw this set in store! I was just about to break down and buy from here, too. Saved myself $20 and whatever in-box shipping would've been :crazy: Very happy:)
BUT I had an awful shopping experience at Walmart:( I was determined not to leave that store without a Catrine! The website said they had her, she wasn't on the shelf so she HAD to be in the back (waiting for me ;) ) I asked for someone to page for assistance, and waited and waited with no answer. Then I went to Customer Service and waited in line. Then they paged again and I waited and waited, still no answer. The C.S. rep walked all the way to the back with me and checked the back herself (I have to say, that was unexpected and something I'm truly greatful for) with no luck.
I did find a Bratzillaz Vampelina (another HTF doll) so it wasn't a total loss. I also had to wait in a crazy long line to check out. I was in that stupid store for over an hour. It wasn't like I was shopping around either. I went straight back to toys, saw Catrine was not there, and the rest of time in the store was spent TRYING to be assisted:( Usually I just leave. I never bother people to look in the back. If they don't have time to put it out, they don't have time to be bothered to look for it for me:) BUT the website said they had it!!!! :cry: :cry: :cry:
I work in retail. I know what backrooms look like. I wish I could have just went back there myself:( I probably had more of an idea of what to look for than someone from C.S.

I prefer my watermark to be subtle for aesthetic purposes. I know it makes them more susceptible to being stolen but even so. That being said, I have been considering changing my watermark to either my Flickr or my Facebook page URL rather than just "pukunui81".
I can see why you would like the subtle, you want people to pay more attention to the photo rather that your mark, but doing that with your url might help them from getting stolen better. I prefer watermarks to be more "informational" so that I can easily find an artist I like:) I do alot of image searches, and sometimes I can't figure out where they originally came from. If I see something I like alot, I usually want to know who did it, and where I can find more of their work, whether it be a custom, a photo, or a drawing.Good point.

The green doesn't seem to be going with anything so it prolly would look better out, unless you plan on putting her in outfits with green in them. If you like the green though keep it. I actually like where you put the octopus on Lagoona her hair does look good down. Maybe the octo would work in her hair better if it was just a regular pony tail. Can anyone confirm which dolls have no glue in the heads?I didn't realize there were any without glue???? I'm curious to hear which ones don't.
Went by my TRU today, and they were completely gutted on Scaris deluxe boxes. I grabbed an add, to see if Wal-mart had anything I might want to price match. I ended up stopping at the one near my parents, which is far enough out of my way that I'd never checked it for MH stuff. I honestly don't think this Wal-mart had ever seen a scalper, the shelves were so well stocked. I ended up getting a Scaris Frankie, and they let me price match Catrine at 15 as well :biggrin:

It's even worse when you find out they're selling your artworks. One of my friends had that happen to her one time. She was on vacation and while walking past a tattoo studio she saw one of her designs in the display window (!!!)
Sadly, plastering a pic with watermarks is often the only way to prevent theft. I'm no fan of that - it somehow ruins the pic - but I did subtle watermarks in the past and most of the time when people ended up stealing something, they just erased it (colored over it, copy-pasted another part of the background over it, etc).
And some people even have the audacity to point out that the character you have drawn or taken a pic of doesn't belong to you anyways, so it's all fair game. Argh!

Cleo's seems to be some sort of harem playsuit which is interesting...Lala's shoes are gore-geous, whereas Cleo's are only okay. :(

If your worried about the gloves get replacement hands from mattel... simple as that... or buy a couple of the scaris basic lala's and switch the hands out and cutomize or sell the remaining pieces..
I love the idea of Lala having gloved hands. That makes her deliciously retro and stylish. She looks like she's dressed in a 50'ish or 60'ish kind of style and the gloves fit right in. I also love Cleo's look to bits!

The colors seem to be a callback to earlier Lala releases like 2.0 and Gloom Beach and her pencil skirt is so very lovely! It's a little odd how some people find her too old looking (not that this opinion is wrong or anything), but Scarah Screams is supposed to be 15 (younger than Lala, who is 16 in vampire years), wears mostly 60s retro chic like this Lala here and I have never seen anyone complain about her looking "old" o,o

This is the third time for the ones with the heart heels, I think.third for the pink ones with the heart heel, and fourth for the black ones she is wearing in the stock photo....its kinda ridiculous! at least its only the 2nd release for the other 2 Lala shoes and all 4 Cleo shoes.
I actually sometimes feel like they make her look really young with the obnoxious amounts of pink, all the ruffles and frills and the double pigtails. Her character always acts all sweet and innocent like a child. I think all that is what we're used to seeing for her and i think that's why she looks so mature now.

I actually sometimes feel like they make her look really young with the obnoxious amounts of pink, all the ruffles and frills and the double pigtails. Her character always acts all sweet and innocent like a child. I think all that is what we're used to seeing for her and i think that's why she looks so mature now.

Yes! I love how monochromatic she is. Black, pink, and white is just a perfect color scheme to me (second to black and purple!), and the more gothic and/or lolita she looks, the better. I adore it.

CAM question! Does anyone know how to get that 'smell' out of the CAMs head... Kinda a rubbery latex smell... I have some new CAMS and the smell is driving me insane :P Ive tried letting them air out for a week tried soap and water... Anyone else have this problem... Or found a solution :D ?

Oh my... I hope they never make a Japan exclusive doll. It's difficult enough from EU and Aussie people to get a hold of some of the store exclusives we have in the US... Just imagine if there was a Japan exclusive? Especially because it'd wind up being super expensive for EVERYONE. I love some of the Japanese dolls like Takara Jenny/Licca, Pullip and Blythe, but even Jenny and Licca who are playline dolls like Barbie and MH are super expensive to import. ;.;

Sorry to abruptly change the subject, but is the werecat 3-pack still showing up in North America? I've not seen it in the UK at all and I'm just hoping I won't have to wait half a year for it to turn up, or not turn up at all as the case may be (I've only just started seeing Jinafire on my TRU's shelves. Luckily I managed to buy her from the US just before Christmas or I'd have been waiting all this time). I'd happily buy a set deboxed from someone in this community who is maybe looking to add to their positive feedback.

While setting up my Flickr page, I realized something: I never gotten into photography so seriously and only did it just for the fun of it and posting them here. I Don't think I'll be adding too many watermarks to my photos. Just the one, and if I see that someone took my photo I'll just report it and hope they take it down. Quick question... I know the LIV wigs fit on the CAMs but does anyone know if the Moxie teen wigs fit on the CAMs?? Reason I ask is because they are on sale at my TRU... sooo I was wondering if it was worth it...From everything I can find they do seem to fit, but you will probably need to secure them with double sided tape or the like.

Just a little off topic...Most things off of Taobao are.... lifted from factories. And a lot of times there are factory rejects. The bodies could have been unsellable, or they are in a different part of the factory or something.

Am I imagining things or is Ghoulia the most repeated victim of getting locked up in combo packs? Of the 12 Ghoulias that have been released so far one was the SDCC doll, 1 you could only get with the Scooter, 3 were locked in combo doll packs - GB, Fearleading, and DDG, and now the two scheduled to come out the same deal. So basically 1/2 the Ghoulias .... Just not fair :mad:

Me, too ! And that Heath & Abbey set ! I heard they were due out in August, but can't remember where I heard it from. Of course, to Mattel, 'August' can mean anything from 'late June in three stores, then a full rollout in July' to 'Sometime in mid-September'. It's best to just have your monies ready at all times - but then they keep rolling out other goodies I like while I wait !

We have the e-releases up here in the North too. The price is higher than in Spain, darn you Spain and your competitive pricing! I want competitive pricing too! :)
The prices here range from 27 € to 32 €, so it is more expensive than Spain. We also have Draculaura, if any of the German collectors are interested.

Zapper I´m sad to say that I checked the store where I bought Frankie today and they have only two Clawdeen left, no Frankie anymore... -_- And they put 2€ higher the price for Clawdeen :mad:
I honestly think her scaris release IS her signature release. :P It has her bio on her packaging, the outfit she comes with is the same outfit shown on the Scaris Special and Webisode, and she comes in a deluxe size box, so she meets my criteria for signature releases:
-Bio on box
-Outfit they're wearing is the outfit that's shown on the webisode/specials
-Big box.
I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember at the moment. :P

I dont know if someone has asked this already, but has anyone else noticed that the I<3 Shoes Draculaura has painted white hands (Gloves)?? I am not loving that :huh:
I was in a nearby city today and visited what counts for our version of Walmart or Target and looked at the MH. They had 3 Scaris Deuces there! :shocked: They were kind of cheap for Finnish prices too, but I stayed firm. I don't need 4 Scaris Deuces, I already have one. Are they even god for trade, since everybody seems to have them?I have a Scaris Deuce that I'm basically just saving as an investment. I don't really like him enough to keep him forever. I figure that eventually, once he's gone from stores, someone will regret not buying him or some new person will stumble upon the MH section and start collecting. I don't want to gouge the prices or anything, just help some future hypothetical person out.
I was sort of semilooking for Scaris Rochelle, if they had had her I might have caved and gone back on my ban. To my disappointment and relief, they didn't have a Rochelle, everybody else, but no Rochelle. It's odd to feel such contradictory emotions about it.
Scaris Rochelle has totally grown on me, I love her outfit, her shoes are divine and her hair is styled very prettily, I think she looks super elegant.

One of my friends uses Garnier Sleek and Shine Anti-Frizz serum. She has impeccable dolly hair, so while I haven't used it, I trust her judgement.

I have been finding myself wanting Normie CAMs. I'd like to see Mattel's take on a human MH doll. It's not something I'd like to see ALOT of but one or two Normies would be nice. One could be a blonde. Win Win.

I think there are a lot of normie looking CAMs. Both vampire CAMs are very pedestrian, and so is the dragon for the most part. Even the CAT CAM looks too human for my liking! I mean, when was the last time you saw a cat with Caucasian skin coloring?! Ha!

Well, you would be horrified at the fate of Twist and Dance Alexis, Luvly. Maybe I will try to sell the others I've purchased though. I just don't like them as much as MH or even Barbies.the twist and dance dolls don't sell well because they have no articulations, but that version of her I actually wanted for her wig and outfit. That brown and blue. :P

because fabric can be expensive and they also charge for their time... every little bit adds up... those tiny buttons and thread and fabric dont pay for themselves (well they do in the long run... especially if people can charge $50+ for a clothing set... )

I was at TRU this weekend and I was waiting in line behind another customer to ask an associate a quick question. The older lady in front of me was asking what types of dolls are popular for girls around 10 years old. The associate told her Monster High dolls are really popular and to check out the aisle number. My question was answered quickly, and I followed the lady to the Monster High aisle. She turned to me and asked if I knew where they were. I pointed and said, "Looks like they don't have very good stock today." She picked up a Clawdeen and said, "Now WHY would she assume that just because I'm a black I want a black doll? I don't like this one bit! Why are black dolls considered MONSTERS?"
I was like :blink: I just turned around a box and showed her the picture and said, "Oh no, they come in all colors. They're all monsters." Her reply was, "Oh, so what did you mean by 'they don't have very good stock'? Black ain't good?" I told her I meant the selection is slim pickins because they tend to fly off the shelves. Good grief. :huh:

sorry to change the subject,It is a sig Rochelle. My second sig Rochelle. :biggrin: This one has quite a bit of blue/turquoise in her bangs but not much in the longer hair. The blue you may be seeing in the longer hair is the ribbon I used to tie it back. My original sig Rochelle has much more of it all over. So I think it's hit or miss as to what you find with separate dolls.
Faunabay which Rochelle is in your profile pic? I ask because I just bought Signature Rochelle at Target and I noticed that only her bangs have blue streaks. I really like how yours has more blue streaks throughout her hair!

yay i got DOTD Frankie, in really good condition from ebay this weekend. think she came out to $22, that seemed like a pretty good price? she has all clothes, faceup is good, has purse, stand, brush and shoes. i was very excited to get her she is really pretty!
So while I was in Walgreens today I decided to hit the toy aisle to see of they had anything good. No MH dolls, but they had the Midnight Magic fakie dolls. They were super cheap, like less than $5 each, so I bought the 3 they had: Pippa, Adele and Kayley. I really wanted the blue one. But they didn't have her:(The thread below dicusses the fakies. Personally I love them (though their hair is Kankeleon I think, and prone to frizziness and hard to keep tame...they're about the height of Nefera, so in my MH world. they're college gals or adults.
They're ok as far as dolls go. My oldest daughter doesn't like them at all, but the other 2 seem to be just fine with them. What is the general consensus on these fakies?? Does anyone have the blue one for sale??

I'm for this with pre-release dolls, because really I think it's people trying to make extra money by making the concept first, because there are plenty of folks who don't realize it's just a custom. On the other hand, customs of out of circulation or hard to find dolls are fine with me, because not many want to pay a ton for a plastic toy.
And also, that amount of glitter is an atrocity; it looks like a dollar store giftbox- way too tacky.
Maybe when they started making the custom they weren't sure if she was actually getting a release? And once they started they just figured keep making her?

I preordered a set of basic Scaris, after it had already been released, and they took a little over two months to ship. (Granted, that was...only a month longer than their original projection of when they would be getting the dolls in stock and shipping, but still.) I did not love the wait (or the price), but at least they eventually fulfilled my order, and I like their "Pile of Loot" feature, as it allowed me to add a couple other things to said order in the interim and have them all shipped together, instead of paying high shipping multiple times.

My main problem with the Abbey I have (Skull Shores) is that it is sooooo difficult to style her hair so that you see all the colors. I usually have her in a side ponytail, but even then you can't see all the colors... And it's an awkward length to braid.

Yes, I was talking about the pre-order. I'm kind of torn about getting Heath and Abbey or not though. I don't really want them for my collection but they would probably make a good trade one day.If you don't want them, why waste money on them for a possible trade that might happen?, seems like a waste to me. I'd save up and spend my money on dolls I want. Its one thing if you're picking them up at cost for other collectors who don't have access to them to be nice, but to buy a set just for the sake of a trade when it's brand new and readily available for most collectors, seems like a waste.

Lips are a different color too. Light pink on the one with green eyeshadow rather than the bright red of the sig look.

Thanks. I shipped two packages last week. One to the UK and one to Sweden and it cost me $40 to ship both. :( If it weren't so expensive, I would be willing to ship internationally, but I just can't afford it.

Are there any other differences between the two versions other than the eyeshadow?
Just adding my 2 cents. I don"t know why there are two versions of Venus SC but the green eye shadow variant has pink lips. The other Venus has a dark sort of maroon colored lips.

So I have a question for the more experienced Monster High collectors. How are releases handled for the dolls? Does Mattel announce everything that is coming out ahead of time? I'm just wondering if there are surprise releases sometimes, or do you always know what is coming out when?I know Mandy's thread pinned up at the top usually has everything, very accurate. Occasionally they slip a surprise doll, but normally we all know well in advance. Partially because there are leaks in info a lot.

Some people build the shipping cost into their sales price and charge a flat fee. So if the doll is 20, and shipping is 5 on average, they will charge 25 flat. I think sometimes people feel guilty asking for $15 in shipping fees when a doll may be worth $10. But if someone wants the doll bad enough, they will agree to pay the higher shipping costs.
Sometimes people don't have a way to get an accurate shipping estimate at home, which makes them hesitant to deal with expensive shipping costs in case they charge too little.
I don't trust usps.com to give an accurate price for international prices.
I've also noticed some people on tumblr saying that they've just bought Swim Lalas with fangs. I guess it really was another mistake on Mattel's part to release her without them, not intentional after all. I'm actually quite glad I got her without fangs, it's fun to have one Lala who isn't showing off her teeth! :lol:

Well I might be in the minority here, the promo pictures for Twyla have not stirred me to want to have her. Perhaps it is because I am much more excited about the upcoming Ghoulias, or perhaps its her clothes. But I am just meh about the Twyla release (which is great for my wallet). She is one I will have to see in person to really determine if I will get her. I am actually more interested in the crazy looking doll coming with that lab looking play set LOL.
Twyla is cute, I like her hair. But her face taunts me, her expression lacks personality to me :'(

The dress is from one of the Cutie Pops dolls. I think it's the second wave Chiffon dress. The second wave of dolls, which is when they introduced Caramel, are in those sparkly lame dresses.

Wow! Catrine looks SO much better without the ugly (IMO) hair!
I've washed my Catrine's hair 3 times and it's still so darn poofy! At least it is finally soft and no longer feels crunchy, but it just doesn't want to lay flat, and I hate using my straightener because it's low setting is still pretty hot.

Wait, do Cutie Pops clothes fit MH? Is there a list somewhere on what doll clothes fit? I ask even though the last thing I need to do is to start buying dolls just for their clothes :blush:I think Cutie Pops clothes are too small, but I could be wrong.
I use shampoo and conditioner. I use Garnier Fructis. It works wonderfully on MH and MLP.
I used a particular Garnier Fructis deep conditioner, that was discontinued, on my dolls. It was the best product I used on them. I miss it:( Nothing has ever come close to that stuff. It washed out so cleanly, you'd be surprised I used anything at all. Maybe I should try one of their regular conditioners :wonder:

I think we're already out of luck concerning the hair. They showed a picture of her face in the dark and her hair didn't glow at all :(

Since I'm pretty new to this I'm not sure how Canada has been stocking certain dolls and such. I have however noticed that I cannot find Jinafire here on the shelves at all. I hate how spotty the EU distribution is. It is always a gamble wether or not to import dolls. ..like right now I want another Catrine and another PG Clawdeen. I originally planned on waiting for those to be released over here to save on shipping.. and since we always got the walmart/target exclusives some time down the line. Yet they haven't shown up yet even tho there has been releases in other EU countries. I'm afraid they're going to pull a 'werewolf-sisters'-one on the PGs, thinking german girls would not want/buy them.
But what about Catrine? White Cat.. plain doll. No outstanding theme whatsoever.. I don't get why we don't get her.. xD;

Zapper: Transformers you say? I have a I <3 Starscream shirt on right now in fact! Optimus Prime was and is my all time favorite Transformer, Starscream is my fiance's favorite.
How much is the I <3 Fashion Frankie in Germany? that is another doll that we do not have here.
I don't understand not stocking Clawdeen either. She is the most popular doll in Finland. Howleen seems to be hard to find now, so she seems pretty popular too. The only reason I can come up with off the top of my head for why they aren't stocked here is that (and this sounds silly) Finns aren't used to buying more than one doll at a time, Barbies are all single packed. The double packs cost more and they might not seem worth it. I can't think of other reasons not to stock them. Unless distributors here think they won't sell.

My Boyfriend is the BEST! He stopped at Value Village last night before his shift at work and found me a bag of two monster High Dolls for $1.99 that i got this afternoon.That's awesome! Everyone is having such good luck finding MH in thrift stores lately! I hope eventually some of that will come to me. Congrats Sunnie, glad you have a supportive bf... It took a while to get my fiance on board but it makes all the difference now (for one thing, second pair of scouting eyes!).

My husband use to complain about having to go to the doll section every time we went somewhere... He has now accepted his fate and is actually going through dolls (mostly on shelves I can't reach) for me... And for the most part picks really good face ups :)

My Boyfriend is the BEST! He stopped at Value Village last night before his shift at work and found me a bag of two monster High Dolls for $1.99 that i got this afternoon.
In the Bag was GB Clawdeen wearing her swimsuit with earrings, and SS Abbey only missing wrap and earrings. So still thrilled, YEAY! that makes finding 5 Monster High dolls second hand so far.
Only wish i could find some of the first releases lol. But finding any is Awesome! :biggrin:

Sig Jackson and Scaris Deuce are pretty easy to find here if you are for boys. Jackson costs retail which is 27,95 €, which is a bit more in dollars and shipping unboxed can be 9.40 € in a registered letter with tracking.

I have seen him in stores, but I usually get him online for people. I order other stuff from the same site too, so I don't usually get shipping costs. I can't believe Cleo touched the dirty plant commoner in a caring manner. Wait until her father hears of this! :lol:
I seriously lol'ed at this :lol: I love that we are seeing Cleo show compassion more often, not enough to change her character, but just enough to keep from wanting to strangle her..oh wait did I say that out loud lol. Very cute episode, I seriously hope I can get ahold of that Heath doll and I wish they would do more monster high movies in this kind of animation.
Huh...is it just me, or are her eyes larger and higher up than normal? She looks a bit different from the two previous Howleens we've seen, although I'm not sure if it'll be for all 13 wishes Howleens or just this one doll in particular.To me I think it's just her absolutely straight bangs making her eyes look larger and higher. It's possible. We got the Scaris dolls about 4 months after the US did, which is better than the 6 month lag we had this time last year. Anyone know when the 13 Wishes dolls are due out in the US? I've been told we'll be getting them here in NZ in September.

Heh, I know that lab coats are white, but the white color is nowhere else to be seen in her outfit and therefore looks really odd to me. It can't be seen as a jacket like Ghoulia's. Maybe her shoes have some white on them, we can't see them yet.
The goggles could probably work as diving goggles for the upcoming playset Cleo, but I still think glasses would have also done the trick.
I think it looks fine. I'm really looking forward to this two-pack.
This is my newest Monster High doll Sweet 1600 Clawdeen, isn't she gorgeous! I usually think that the Clawdeens look like another celebrity, but to me this one looks like Jennifer Hudson , which is great also because our creepy room-mate last may stole my Barbie that looked like Jennifer Hudson :lol: :enraged:. I finally got my Howleen!! Dance class howleen!! Glad I grabbed her when I found her on the Walmart shelf. I went back two days later and the other three were gone off the shelf. My daughter wanted Howleen too, but alas... >_<
She's adorable! She almost fits the other MH girl clothes, which is good but I wonder... Will they have fashion packs for Nefera and Howleen since these girls have different body size/shapes than the others? Howleen has such a cute and muscular body. Her thicker legs and arms are cute.

Man, I'm kinda bummed. About six weeks ago, a woman in one of my MH Facebook groups posted a whole bunch of dolls for sale (she said she was selling to get money to pay bills). I claimed her bee and three-eyed ghoul CAM dolls and sent her payment through paypal.That sucks... I know what you mean about wanting the dolls more than you want a refund. It's tough to get your hopes up like that.
Over the next few weeks, every time I contacted her to find out if she'd sent them, she said no because her fiance wouldn't lend her his car to go to the post office and she had no other way of getting there. At one point she said she'd arranged to have a courier come but he hadn't shown up.
She said she was planning on refunding everyone their money, but I said I wanted to hang on a bit longer because I didn't think I'd get another chance at those dolls complete with torsos and a decent price.
Since then, I've heard nothing from her. I'm beginning to get suspicious. She has good feedback in the Facebook group and she seemed trustworthy enough.
I'm not too upset about the possibility that maybe she scammed me or whatever. I'm sure I can get my money back if I have to. I'd just rather have the dolls, you know? I was really looking forward to getting them.
Ah well.

You could always get another and swap their heads and then return the other one. I've done that before with a Robecca - I'd cut her hair short and then shortly after her leg broke off. Mattel wanted me to return her, but I knew they wouldn't accept her with cut hair (and I didn't want to have to do it all over again), so I bought another and swapped their heads and then sent them the other one.
Just an idea, it may be out of your way to do so (and cost a little more. >,<), but do you by any chance have a spare Clawdeen whose heads you can swap for their body?? That way you can keep her perfect face, and at the same time, get a perfect body for her too!! Ever since Dance Class Operetta came out, she has been challenging my one doll per character rule! I already had Killer Style Operetta but there is something about DC that just gets me (I think it is the lighter makeup and straight hair-plus the fact she is swing and I did swing dancing in high school). Thanks to flickr, I just discovered that La Dee Da dresses (though a big snug) fit MH. I found this awesome one I want, but it's something like $18 online when Target says that it has it in stores for $9. Hmm...
Ooh this is so intriguing! I just spent ages poking around in all three site keyholes :lol: The magical/fantastical feel of them suits me completely. Very excited to see what comes out of this!

I'm interested to see where this new line is headed, as long as they look like MH dolls. I don't want another Barbie, Disney Princess, Bratz, Winx or the like.
I adore MH, but it has a lot more to do with the crazy amount of details, massive amount of varying colors, and lack of girlygirlness within the line (there's a reason I only own 3ish draculauras). I also dig just how much time, design work, and energy goes into each release- none of my gals look like clones of each other and I have almost 80 now, because even between releases each character gets a redesign to better suit the line, and more than just their makeup- hair cut, color, and style all get tweaked as well.All of THIS for me too!!!
This is the only line I've really seen do that with an aesthetic I like, and until we know for sure that this is a true sister line, with all the effort, detail, and hard work in it that MH gets, I am going to remain suscpiciously skeptical. I am really disappointed with this Howleen. She's adorable but another pink one right after DC? I love her signature doll so much and her character is so cute and bratty. I love Lagoona, but I am not really happy about the sudden and dramatic color difference. Monster from the lagoon sounds more to me about swamps, slime and such. I'm sorry if "chubby" was offensive, I simply meant "normal" sized gals, aka why I said "not stick figures", I think its important that girls see ALL body shapes and sizes, and despite the fact that the doll molds show otherwise, it was awesome to see that the video adopted this credo.

I have to confess that I didn't like her when the first proto pics came out, but now in this new pic she looks mush better :frolic: , she looks different from the last Lagoonas who looked very boring to me mostle the dance one. -_-

I don't think Lagoona would have wished herself to change like that. She was very much all about showing that people don't need to be the same race to date or make friends. Howleen probably just thinks she's trying to help and so makes a very misguided but well-intentioned wish.

I really like the DJ Spectra set, but why no Holt? Spectra seems an odd choice for a DJ. But I do think I want that set anyways because my Harpy is a DJ and if I ever gets a Holt then he would be right at home in that set too.

Yep, I just bought a second one at Target on Sunday. They had all four packs. I already had the pink cherry print dress, so I bought the blue dress with the lime green fur. I was tempted to get the one with the purple plaid skirt & suspenders, but for now, I left it there. I didn't like the other one. I got them for my DC Howleen. They both look adorable on her.

That's the kind of fun, kind of terrible part of it all though; women and girls alike are already being taught to have the same body type as MH dolls- stick thin with heavy makeup. Look at any tv show, fashion show, or hell even commercials. Anorexic-ally thin has been around since the 1920s with Flappers, who worked to emphasize that they were thin and boyish. And after the clothing revolution when corsets, girdles, and other heavily body shaping clothing were no longer stylish it became up to people themselves to sculpt their body into the proper shapes.
I only just watched the Indian Fright song and I love it. The women are normal weight, but to me they look fit and healthy, not too fat or even plump. I have seen the same type of extreme thinness in Bollywood movies as in Western films and it is quite nice that MH advertising did not go that route, even if the dolls themselves are very thin.
Come to think of it, would the same kind of mentality that is attached to Barbie's physique also be attached to MH? By this I mean that there are girls and women, who feel that Barbie has the perfect body and they would want to emulate that. Dolly Parton is a famous example of this. Will girls and women, say 10 years in the future feel that way about the MH body type?
This is speculation of course, since there is really no way to know, but I think it's an interesting topic to ponder.
Waaaiiitt a Minute...Isn't that the same screencap from the Canadian TRU Pre-order for HHB??? I swear this was the first (2nd after the first one being so tiny to see) screen cap that was posted from the first time we found out they were doing a pre-order and it was from the CA TRU.
ETA: The reason I ask is regarding the price that's on the screencap posted from canada, was the price for the set on the US TRU site before it was taken down, the same price as the screen cap??
The US price was 42.99, when I saw that it was only two dollars cheaper I just preordered it here.
Come to think of it, would the same kind of mentality that is attached to Barbie's physique also be attached to MH? By this I mean that there are girls and women, who feel that Barbie has the perfect body and they would want to emulate that. Dolly Parton is a famous example of this. Will girls and women, say 10 years in the future feel that way about the MH body type?
This is speculation of course, since there is really no way to know, but I think it's an interesting topic to ponder.
