They should make a "Daughter of the Monster Under The Bed" and have her be some kind of ghoul who steals shoes and socks and comes with like....10 pairs of shoes and a bunch of socks! All mix and matched pairs that aren't the same, but do work together in contrast. That'd be an awesome idea for a release!!SOLD! Haha, that'd be so cute.

yup! her wave 2 shoes are pink, and were recolored black for the Roadster Draculaura....I was excited to see them in blue...they are one of my favorite pairs (they remind me of the jellie shoes i had when i was a kid....tho mine were neon green)

Hey guys! I'm back. I pretty much missed everything that happened in MHD 14. I've been working on a volunteer project [helping teenagers build a robot] so I have been absent from life for 6 weeks. The project wrapped up this week, so I'M BACK!!
I saw [online] the Cleo-Lagoona 2-pack! How exciting! I can't wait to get more detailed photos!
Also, the werecat fearleaders finally showed up near me, and Justice had the swim class dolls minus Venus. This is probably all old news for you guys where you are, but I JUST got to go Monster Hunting yesterday, so I picked up all 5 of those dolls, and had a RM Clawdeen in my mailbox when I got home. Monster Overload :)
On another note, has there been any word as to why Swim Class Draculaura is missing her fangs??I knew there was something different but couldn't put my finger on it. I'm surprised at how much I like her though.....with or without her fangs. :)

Just stumbled across a new Fakie on Taobao- it seems they have progressed to having articulated joints! (for the arms, not the feet) I will confess I find this one to be rather cute...

Gah... the bright orange ruins Cleo, honestly. Lagoona isn't too bad but her face and hair are just plain and safe... again... boring. Don't mind the sheer pullover with the teal minidress underneath, and Cleo's handbag looks cool, but not worth it otherwise.
Cleo would be better with darker lips, toned down orange and gold where the yellow is on her dress, Y U DO DIS MATTEL?

I'm really on the fence about that Scaris 2-pack. Lagoona looks freaking terrible, imo. That is the most unflattering hairstyle she's had yet, and that sheer pink top is atrocious with the dress underneath. I wish they'd made it like a really loose fishnet top or something. Cleo's eyes and hair are gorgeous, and I love her jewelry and shoes, but the dress looks like something from an 80's Barbie to me.I'm not a Lagoona or Cleo fan usually but for some reason I like the way they look here. But if I like it (when I don't normally) it makes sense that those of you who usually love the way they look wouldn't. :lol: Although like with any of them I reserve total judgment until I see them in person. Some I love online I don't care for in person and vice versa. I will be honest and say it's usually the other way around though. I tell myself I don't need them after seeing them online but once I get them in hand I change my toon pretty fast!! :sheepish:

I was super-excited about Bloodgood getting her nightmare until I googled what it looked like. Silly me. For some reason, I was expecting it to look like a D&D nightmare (http://main.newgallo.dnsalias.net/Images/Monsters/Nightmare.jpg), which would've been way more awesome than a silly blue horse with bloodshot eyes. Sigh ...
I'm curious to know what the 13 Wishes Big Moment Doll is. That one wasn't part of the preview pics I saw. The Friday the 13th doll sounds interesting - probably Catty Noir, eh?
Oh, and "Blitz Item - Sweet 1600 (CR)" - I wonder what that is. Anyone know what that "(CR)" stands for?

I've been disliking my 2.0 Lagoona. She has weird eye placement. When she first hit shelves, I thought Mattel was trying something different with her (they were experimenting with Lala's eye placement at the time, I thought this was a similar situation) and I actually hunted her odd placement down. Later releases of Lagoona would prove I hunted down a wonky doll :lol: None of the future releases had the same eyes as my 2.0 Lagoona, EXCEPT this Scaris doll. Am I the only one who sees it? Her eyes are placed lower on her face, giving her the illusion of a big forehead. I don't think it's the hairstyle, it's her eyes. Or am I wrong?
Anyway, I wonder if this doll is also wonky, or what? She'd fit right in with my Lagoona :lol: I think having another oddball would help me like 2.0 more.....

Could the "blitz item" be whatever we will be getting for Black Friday? I mean they have something listed for September so it is possible that this list is for the whole year. The list seems to be for the UK with the retailers listed and ASDA usually means Walmart with both Tesco and Argos splitting our Target exclusives.

The blitz item is most likely the black friday item. A friend of mine bought last year's at a Mattel store in California in October and her receipt said this: WM MH BLITZ DL AST. :)

Okay. So IF I'm reading this correctly, the 1's stand for how many different dolls will be in the assortment. The final number just adds all the 1's up :P
So, for example, in the HHB/Nightmare case, there will only be one type of doll in the case. In the Music Festival case, there will be 3 types of dolls. Am I correct?
So my question is, why does the GNO 4 pack list 4 different types of dolls? Could this be fashion packs instead?

I think either one of those make sense ^.^ Though I'm really hoping they stand for the number of different dolls in the assortment. I wonder what the letters and numbers before the names are. I know what ASDA, TESCO, SMYTHS, and TRU mean but what about BBC80? Or X4514? There are a lot of Y77___'s.

You never know, it could mean they leave Clawdeen out instead (since she was kinda a shelf sitter at least compared to Frankie and DL) and still include Clawd.

Funny thing is: In germany Clawd is usually the shelf warmer. I can STILL buy him at a certain webstore here even now. In general this line did anything but fly off the shelves here. (tho most likely b/c they cost twice as much as a signature doll) - So I can say that I am surprised they are bringing them back now. xD

Why was Clawd pulled early in the US? Any particular reason for that? I mean the Sweet 1600 that Dragonlady mentioned earlier. Does anybody know?
I think Clawd has a personality outside Draculaura in the webisodes and a function as well, although i do think it would be nice if he got webisodes or smallish plot lines that were just about him.

I wonder why nearly every single Lagoona after wave 2/Mad Science has been underwhelming to me. >_< She used to be one of my favorites but now I just don't feel her, y'know? It isn't necessarily her outfits I'm feeling this way towards but rather her makeup/hairstyles. I do think the new swim line Lagoona is really nice, so maybe that is my way back to feeling the Lagoona love.
GNO Rochelle has on some pretty clothes, but I think I prefer her with bangs. :D

Have the Scaris 2 packs been found in the US yet?Our TRU (Central Oklahoma) had the 'Scaris 2-PK' shelf tag decorated with a green sticker with '2/25' written on it - under a completely empty shelf. When I asked, she said they didn't come in the last truck, but they're expected Thursday. I could call and they'd hold one for me then. So, here's hoping.

NP, I know not every where has Kmarts (here in CA they have kind of gone extinct) but the few remaining are hit or miss and sometimes you can find good stuff.... but I also found them at kohls....

I was looking at the preview of the Doodle Book on Barnes and Noble's website and it looks like there's a little bit of both? I didn't see the whole thing. Maybe like 6 pages or so? I'm wondering if it's online only since there's no option to see if it's in stock in stores or if you can ship it to the store.

AFAIK the stripes do wash out and fade. How much depends on your doll and on what detergent/soap you use and how long and hard you rub/wash it. :7
You can, however, colour them back in with sharpie, since not all of it will wash out in just one go.
It has kept me from washing mine 'til now, so I'm just quoting the experience of others, mind you.. I also can not tell you what kind of sharpie will work best. :|

kitter, I've seen several Catrines around here. I can grab one for you if you'd like. :) The only thing I can't find is Deuce! I had to give in and buy him from a scalper. It sucks, but it was so frustrating seeing 12 basic Scaris dolls and not a single Deuce. :|

Speaking of Deuce, I'm considering selling my DotD Deuce. Just not sure I'm attached to him anymore. He is complete except for his sunglasses. They snapped in half almost as soon as I took him out of the package and I was by no means rough with them! :/ Anyone know what a loose DotD Deuce sans glasses goes for?

I've found that once the glue starts leeching out through the plugs, attempting to wash it out with water by normal means will usually only succeed in spreading it to the rest of the hair. Your best bet will be to soak it in a degreaser first to break up any residue. Once that's gone, you can just wash and style their hair the way you normally would, repeat treatment as necessary.
I haven't tried it yet myself, but Tea Tree oil seems to be having good results with those that have used it (I believe credit for this find goes to Catlein). You should be able to get bottles of it at most pharmacies. I've been having luck using Goof Off 2 whenever the problem crops up on my own dolls, which is a discontinued product, so I'll likely be grabbing some Tea Tree oil in the future to give it a whirl. :)

I bought two sets of six rings off Amazon a couple months ago, for about $5. delivered. Put one set on some baked potatoes for my birthday. I've also seen them on hair accessories. Just wanted to let ya know, you can buy 'em separate online, and sometimes bakeries will sell just the 'toy' pieces, too. I know Mal-Wart has 'em, I saw them on cupcakes when we picked up Dearest Son's MLP birthday cake.

Robecca's was a pain to find for me! I saw all, but Robecca's one night, came back in the morning and they got more in and didn't have Robecca's. The manager said he would put one aside for me if they got more in. I saw them again at another TRU, but no Robecca and I finally found Robecca's at a Walmart. It took me forever to find hers! I absolutely adore her fashion pack and I'm so tempted to get a second one! I have a Lagoona wearing the shorts, top and vest and she just looks darling! :heart:

Those cupcake rings! I need them! I remember someone posting on monsterhighdolls.com about places like Jewel-Osco/Albertsons/etc. having the cupcakes with those rings and a cake! I remember this because I wanted the cupcakes for my birthday that year. :lol: I'm hoping that I will FINALLY get them for my birthday this year! 2 months to go on Saturday! I bought two sets of six rings off Amazon a couple months ago, for about $5. delivered. Put one set on some baked potatoes for my birthday. I've also seen them on hair accessories. Just wanted to let ya know, you can buy 'em separate online, and sometimes bakeries will sell just the 'toy' pieces, too. I know Mal-Wart has 'em, I saw them on cupcakes when we picked up Dearest Son's MLP birthday cake.

I'm a bit frustrated...my husband is fixing his car at my friends house with the help of her dad... And the custom Frankie I got from keelyVH arrived yesterday... So when he went back to our house he brought the package to me... Now I am absolutely in love with this custom!! But my friends SIL goes "omg you collect dolls!" Like no one allowed to have a frickin hobby... And I found myself trying to defend myself as a doll collector who is 28 years old and a mother of 3... And what's worse is my husband joined in with the somewhat mocking that they were all doing... I don't bash these people and it hurt... I don't think my husband realizes how much it hurt me.. He got an earful last night... :cry: I'm just glad I have you guys to talk to about it and have something in common with... I don't understand why some people have issues with what other people enjoy... If you don't like it... Don't do it! :mad:

I've had a friend basically tell my boyfriend (before we dated) that she imagined I would end up being a lonely 40 year old surround by a bunch of dolls/toys and that I needed to grow up. :cry:

i will admit that it would always bug me that I would get more flack for collecting MH and MLP than someone who often talked how wasted they are and how much they drank the night before. Dx

I can't imagine people I love getting on my back for collecting dolls. I've been very lucky that everyone has been very supportive. My boyfriend has recently got into playing the card game Magic so its great whenever I want to go check out the MH isle in toys cause he just goes to the card isle in the toys section. :p
Don't let them bug you. It's better to be happy with yourself and your hobbies then a "grown up". A true grown up knows that happiness is really what comes first in life. If you are paying all the necessities to live and have extra money you are free to spend that however you like!

Somewhat random question: what would be the best way to straighten a DC Howleen's hair? As much as I love her hair puffs, I want her hair to be straight and afraid that I may ruin her hair if I were to try and use real hair products on it. xD

Haha, i should do that the next time my sister picks on me. I am certain she has spent more money on clothes and partying in one year than I ever had on my MH collection of 30+ dolls. xD
I do have people that are supportive on my hobby. Two of my friends also collect MH dolls (one is huge Lagoona fan and has one of each version of her so far). Anyone think since they released "Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love" onto DVD that they are actually bringing Clawd back to be sold with the girls? It doesn't look like any have sold and it ends in a few hours but still a curious find.
so today I finally found Catrine... Thay ALL had flaws, like tiny specs of paint all over the face, chipped eyes and skribbles around the eyebrows and eyes ... lol... This seems common but are all the flawed ones like this?

Looks like the preorder from eBay I posted about a little while ago. On eBay they were supposed to start becoming available in March and apparently BBTS too. Maybe they are bringing S1600 Clawd back!

If they should re-release anything, it should be the Signature dolls and/or the DotD Dolls. They are far more popular than the Sweet 1600 dolls.
I saw those on tumblr. I love the Howleen and Twyla costumes! I wish they were in adult sizes! D:I'd like to say that the Extra Large size is the "Adult" size. I was able to fit in Abbey's costume last Halloween for an anime convention. It was neat that people actually recognized who I was at the con. xD

Signature lines seem to disappear quickly because they all share the same product code. So as Mattel changes out the characters, the stores continue to order using that number. Themed lines tend to have a unique code, so unless there's a case refresh, you'll see the same dolls on the shelf until they're sold through.
DotD was an unusual scenario. The wave 2 shared the same product code, but a LOT of stores didn't get them. Not sure if it was just an early franchise fluke, or if stores just didn't order that number anymore because they had tons of the first ones shelf-warming.
I do find it odd that the 1600 line is being re-released almost a year later. Clawd makes sense because he was removed early on, and the popularity of the boys has grown since then. But it would have made more sense (to me anyway) to release different dolls if they needed to continue with the 1600 line. We have art for Lagoona and Ghoulia; Cleo is there too, although she looks like she's sporting her GR outfit. But it couldn't be that hard to give her a new outfit that fits the theme.
Yeah, it seems odd and pointless to rerelease the existing S1600 girls. They've been on shelves here without a single break since they came out, and I'm totally sick to death of seeing them constantly for more than a year! And now there'll be piles more? Blargh! :razz:

Swimsuit dolls are fairly common in doll lines. They're inexpensive, and there are several styles you can make without having to come up with a complex new theme. They usually get released around the holidays (November-ish), so the company can have an affordable option on shelves for gift-giving; as well as post-holiday grabs when people tend to spend less.
My Howleen also has a wonky eye.. :C
I've tried to buy a replacement, really tried. But apparently 80% of her sig version must have eyewonk. LOL. (I have seen perfect ones tho.. at least in pictures)

Look right under the hair ornament and next to the part, between the first and 3rd black plug. You'll see something that looks like a triangular bald look spot.

Seems mattel has updated their parts store to include scaris Deuce's arms with wrists!! Is anyone ordering from them soon who would be willing to get me his arms? My DOTD Deuce needs his wrist joints! Also looking for a kind US person to get me some kaiser stands, the seller i used to get them from on ebay has put the postage price waaaay up and i'll have to pay massive import fees :(

Ack bought that 2nd Jinafire and I finally got to opening her after contemplating if I should or not, and I LOVE HER So much!! I want to keep her hair the way it is and not take it down, if I were to straighten it, could I still pour hot water over her head like it is and brush the straight part straight without ruining anything??

Sorry gang that I havnt really posted much about the Scaris Twin pack.
Just some quick info that I felt was good, but if you would like to know anything, just ask.
I noticed that all the issues with the packs I have seen are with Goona.
The issues with Goona are eyewonk (not massive wonk) and wide set eyes.
Not one Cleo I saw was flawed. Which was brilliant.
None of them had paint issues like the Cat Twins or Catrine.
Their heads dont have glue in that I can see or feel.
I took Goona's off to have a look.
Got to say that this pack is brilliant, I am very impressed with the QC on these. Very, Very, HAPPY!

For instance (and this may be very important to alot of you) I'm pretty sure the arms and hands they have labeled as Clawd's are actually Howleen's. Do you get what's pictured or what the text says it is?

I wouldn't suggest it. You can only get her with her bed, and I haven't seen that in awhile.

Just managed to squeak in on one of the last few Blob/ice girl CAM sets on Amazon. So excited!I haven't tried this myself but I read someone say they use a safety pin (or straight pin) that they've heated up a little to poke a hole in the ear.
Also I had a question. I bought the DC Robecca to have her wear her fashion pack, but she doesn't have holes for the earing or eyepatch! What is the safest way to make them without risking damaging her?
Just managed to squeak in on one of the last few Blob/ice girl CAM sets on Amazon. So excited!I haven't tried this myself but I read someone say they use a safety pin (or straight pin) that they've heated up a little to poke a hole in the ear.
Also I had a question. I bought the DC Robecca to have her wear her fashion pack, but she doesn't have holes for the earing or eyepatch! What is the safest way to make them without risking damaging her?
I first insert a thumbtack to make the hole, and then, after leaving it in for a minute or so, I shove a toothpick in and leave it for a little while to make it real wide. Then I put the earrings in.
I thought about it for quite a while too.......but once I broke down and bought the Cafe set I just love it!! I say GO FOR IT!! I makes a great little setting for the Scaris dolls!!After watching the Scaris special, I'm really tempted to grab the Scaris Cafe. I would love to use it for romantic pictures of Deuce and Cleo! :heart: It's on sale for $20 at Target. I love the optimism of the car not being re-released with a doll.....BUT
There were other outfits that some of the characters got in the scaris special from the final runway scene + that oufit venus wore in the beginning of the show.

Operetta would have been the logical choice for the 50s style diner, so I'm happy she gets included ^^

Hahaha, it's so true about not wanting it until one can't find it. Sheesh. The extra seating thing is partly how I'm consoling myself over the second Coffin Bean with Draculaura set I have now purchased (because my first set had unacceptable eyes...here's hoping the new one is better, I can't buy a third one of these things!). It was just a pretty long time between the release of the roadster and the discovery/even later subsequent release of the roadster with Draculaura. At least it seemed to me.

Maybe mattel are testing the water by releasing a black werecat before Wydowna? You know, to see if it'll cause controversy having a character with black skin? A Werecat is probably the safest option since they must be selling well for Mattel to keep churning them out. I thought this about Gigi too, pink doll, pretty clothes, long hair, safe option right? Then suddenly she has scorpian plating (scorpians are creepy crawlies right? :S) It seems to me that Mattel might be trying to gauge if Wydowna will sell by releasing other dolls with similar characteristics and maybe de-sensitise her image a bit so its not such a shock when she is released, she's a pretty unique and abitious design afterall. I dunno part of me doesn't think she'll be the SDCC exclusive... it doesn't make sense, we heard nothing of Scarah until she was released and then she appeared in the webisodes, whereas there have been hints to Wydowna in the PG comics and now maybe the book... This kind of reminds me of how Operetta was released.. i think she's coming we've just got to wait it out.Oh wow, I didn't realize it till now, but that actually is a really good and valid point to make with Mattel experimenting. Thinking about it now, is a good thing that Catty Noir is coming out for the purpose of testing the water, if that's what they're plotting with this one. Why ARE all the Monster High chairs/couches/etc designed in such a way that the dolls can't just sit normally in them? It's the same with the Coffin bean seating. Maybe it's because the dolls have such long limbs it would make the furniture shape kind of strange... but still.

As far as rareness... When they first come out its hard to get them unless you have seriously perfect timing... Just because everyone else is trying to get them at the same time... But once everyone "gets" one... You are able to find more and more
That being said... I am going to gauge the level if difficulty of getting the Gil 5 pack at moderately hard just because EVERYONE is going to be trying to get that one because of Gil.. I can see if I can snag one for you if you would like once they are released...

I was super-excited about Bloodgood getting her nightmare until I googled what it looked like. Silly me. I think it all comes down to money.
ButI will admit MH reissues are better than Barbie or MLP ones. Each doll has enough uniqueness to warrent the purchase of another version. At least, to me they do.
It helps if you don't always have everyone on display, too. About 90% of my doll collection live in a while IKEA-Box. LOL. As much as it sucks that Gil is in a 5 pack, I have to admit.. I'm pretty happy its not another swimsuit 5 pack lol. And, I only have DC Robecca who I wouldn't mine having duplicates of, so I'm a happy camper!

I just had the thought that if they were to give Gil long pants, they'd have to be bell bottoms or something in order to fit over his leg fins.
Also, this Music Festival Clawd is the first Clawd to come with shorts rather than pants. And two of the three Deuces have pants. And one of the two Jacksons has pants.
So I don't think the "always in shorts" issue is really as bad as it might seem.
All three CAM boys come with shorts. Both Gills come with shorts. One Deuce, Jackson, and Clawd come with shorts. There are 15 male MH dolls that I know of, both released and leaked right now. I have the majority of mine in a tub with layers separated by tissue paper (for those annoying sticky ones) but I'm more annoyed than I should be that their hair gets all funky when you pack them away in anything. :blink:
I was thinking about trying a wine bottle case with those dividers but it's not really feasible without knowing a major alcoholic, lol. :wine:

I complain about shorts because i have a lot of boys and just generally dislike the look of shorts. i have a few extra pants but more would be nice for variety. Luckily I'm freeing up some extra pairs by dressing my McIllyoch wolves in custom clothes (PANTS!). Since these two come with other dolls, I'll probably just have one of each.I'm not saying it's unreasonable at all. Just playing devil's advocate really. I wouldn't mind more pants for the boys myself, although I'd prefer fashion packs to more new dolls.

So, if most everyone didn't like the boy dolls in beginning, I'm curious to hear why people are interested in them now. Is it just because of the fact that they're so rare?
Personally, the only boy that I'm really interested in are both versions of Jackson. To me, that's my MH grail as far as the boys go.

Are the dolls at Barnes and Noble expensive? I've noticed that dolls in stores like walgreens, kohls, etc are more expensive because its not a typical place you'd get them.My B&N had the basics (PD and Scaris big box) for about $23.. however the slim box dolls were nearly $16... so it's kind of a crap shoot. However, I found dolls I hadn't seen at retail there (I had seen all the DC dolls, Scaris Ghoulia, Swim class, and two Jinafire) so if you got the extra cash it's always worth a look.

I would definitely get it! I have been wanting that set forever and was stupid and saw it last September but decided not to get it because I wanted to concentrate on dolls first without realizing they didn't really sell it anymore. So lucky that you saw one in store!

Going back to the pants thing: I did a little experiment earlier today to see which pants fit Gil. First off, I discovered that his leg fins come off like Lagoona's do! I didn't know that. Second, the only pants I've got that fit him with the leg fins on are Deuce's signature pants. They've got a bit of flare in the bottom half. The others' pants are all too tight on the calf.

Actually, the Target exclusives usually go to Argos over here, so I'm not sure where Catty Noir'll end up in the US :o Tesco seems to get the store exclusives that don't have an equivalent shop over here (i.e. Walmart -> ASDA), the last Tesco exclusives were B/W Skull Shores Frankie and Draculaura w/ car IIRC.
Maybe she'll be like B/W SS Frankie, and be 'exclusive', but not to one specific store? B/W Frankie was the last Friday the 13th exclusive, right? ^^;; I dunno, just a thought.

I really hope they release InvisiBilly because I think he and Rochelle are so cute together! I've been thinking that since I watched this episode in Spanish and I was surprised by how much of it I actually understood. Hooray slightly adequate Spanish skills!

Yes, Gil's fins are removable. For mine, they were real tough to get off. Those find go in deep! I rather wish Lagoona's went in a bit deeper like that...then they wouldn't fall off so easily!Yes!
Going back to the pants thing: I did a little experiment earlier today to see which pants fit Gil. First off, I discovered that his leg fins come off like Lagoona's do! I didn't know that. Second, the only pants I've got that fit him with the leg fins on are Deuce's signature pants. They've got a bit of flare in the bottom half. The others' pants are all too tight on the calf.

Wow, hes amazing! Thanks puku! ^.^He sure is! Possibly my favorite doll in terms of sculpt and detail. I'm kinda bummed part of his left eyebrow got rubbed off when I took him to the beach the other week. I could touch it up with some paint, but I'm not sure I'd be able to get the color right. :/

He does have those clear glasses that come with his casketball uniform. So maybe he's worn those around her before?
His Scaris glasses are also translucent, as well as most of his other glasses so I think she's seen his eyes through them. ^^Well, technically, *all* of his glasses are translucent, it's just that the first two Deuce dolls came with really dark shades. His Scaris glasses are technically sunglasses as well, even if they're not as dark as his sig or DotD shades. Only his casketball glasses aren't dark, which may have been an oversight on Mattel's part. Either that or it's the glass that blocks his stonevision and not the fact that someone can't see his eyes behind the dark shades.

Yeah, I guess. I wonder how that works - does glass block his stone gaze? I thought it was that the subject had to not be able to see his eyes - hence the really dark shades. Either that's not the case or Mattel just got a bit inconsistent.
If they're just glass lenses, wouldn't it magnify the gaze's strength?? But since they're shaded, I guess that blocks/cancels out his gaze from beaming through.

Jackson's Gloom Beach hair has blond in front while his Basic's hair is more like a crayon yellow in the front. Hope that helps.

On monsterhighdolls.com, someone posted that they found a DT Cleo at a TRU that I was at on Thursday (I didn't look thoroughly because my boyfriend didn't want to be there for long). I told my boyfriend about it last night and he got up extra early to call the TRU, put it on hold and drive all the way there, which is about an hour drive for him! I am finally going to have my DT Cleo!!! I don't care what she looks like at this point (my boyfriend says I have no choice) as long as I have her in my hands! :'D :cry:awwwww......... what a sweet boyfriend to do this for you. :inlove: Although it is partially his fault since he didn't want to be there thursday. :P

This! I adore Venus' shave. I wouldn't mind some variations (both sides shaved, the flocking green instead of pink, different colors mixed with the green, etc), but I think the side shave is really unique and and suits her style.
Could be worst, scalpers might bring box cutters, cut through the plastic and yank out Gil or something, like they did with GB Ghoulia. >,<;

Slightly ot, but has anyone seen the new Bratzillas? They have build a witch! It is a direct rip off of CAM. On the back of the packages, they advertize their new web series. >.<Yep! I only want their pets which fortunately can be bought separate from the girls. :lol: I especially want the bushy-haired voo doo doll and the pegasus pony with pilot goggles.
What a MH photoshoot I had today! I spent two hours and forty minutes in the woodsy area covered in snow in my friend's backyard. By the time I came in, I was so soaked that I had to put my clothes in his dryer! (Not to mention the fact that my butt was numb and cold for two hours afterward! Much of the shoot involved me getting down and dirty in the snow!)
It was far more challenging that I expected it to be. Aside from the getting soaked part, there were issues with the camera constantly slipping into the snow and uncooperative models! I saved my favorite model for last, and she did the best by far. I kinda wished I had left the others at home and just had her modelling all the clothes herself! The photos of her just blew me away. It was like all the other models were "trying" to model, but everything she did seemed to be effortless. Now to sort through 208 photos!

Argh. I ordered the Scaris 2-pack from the TRU website two or three days ago. Now I've got an email from them saying it's on backorder and they didn't say when they'd have more in. :/ I'm wondering, if I find it in the store, if I can cancel the order and get my money back. Does it look soaked into the plastic? If it's not and its a surface blemish, you could try acetone. Be VERY careful if you try this, though! Acetone will remove the face up if it comes in contact with the paint!
We're supposedly getting the "original favorites" rereleases (sig Frankie, Clawdeen and Lala) here in New Zealand in August. I don't want/need any of them myself, but they could be good to use for trades cos I know there are plenty of people in the States who want them, right?

I felt like that too about Venus. then my friend got her and opened her and I fell in dolly love. I love the lime green and hot pink theme she has going on! They work really well together, the colours I mean.Yep I did the same thing with Robecca too! I wasn't planning on buying her but found her for $10 and thought what the heck. Now she's just absolutely adorable and I totally fell in love!!
I also felt that way about Robecca, or rather I was on the fence. The steampunk idea was cool, but the end result looked a bit boring, then the same friend opened her up and bam! dolly love again! Now I must have Robecca!

Well, the video leads me to believe if all the dolls had a PD doll (or in Frankie and Lagoona's cases, were actually out) they would be the one's shown. I'm pretty sure Japan is getting the "original favorites" reiussue set, because AmiAmi had them up for preorder. Which now made me realize when my fiance is looking to fill an order on Mandarake for Figuarts I might be able to snag dolls I need >_____>;(..)

The re-released Abbey has a modified head mold. Her jaw is a slightly different shape and her eyes are a bit bigger.

Is the original worth anything? I'm looking on ebay and it doesn't seem like she's even going for that much. In fact i think the 2nd edition is going for more than the first.
She's got a different face-up and body-colour.OMG!! I was perfectly happy with my rerelease until seeing this comparison. :shocked: So now I'm thinking I might have to buy the first release when I know I really don't need it! :snicker:

I'm totally with you on that one.. I love her b/c I love pink & Pony-Tails, but I also want more MONSTERS.. like Jina & Wydowna.. or even like Goona, Clawdeen and Spectra. At least Gigi has clawed hands and a BUTT-CHIN!!! LOL. :D xD

Gigi makes me think of a girl version of Deuce with that dimpled chin and downturned eyebrows. She is cuter here than in the old promo pics, but nothing really wows me so I think I'm most likely to pass on her from all the new dolls coming out.

The dresses and all other accessories (like shoes) change color. The fashion packs have something like a pen that you can use to decorate the outfits. That's why they are a little plain :)

I've been kinda planning to add that tail to her ever since she was annonced/ confirmed to have plating&claws. So that's how she's in my head already.. If I now take that tail off my future Gigi...... I can totally see why y'all complaining. LOL.

I don't mind GiGi being pink as long as it means we get new characters like Heath and Scarah. That's a good trade-off for me although I understand that she may be a disappointment for some. I have to say that I love her dimpled chin, she's very cute!
So I went to see if that German site with the pre-orders for the new two packs had a picture up of the Heath and Abbey pack yet but the page was taken down :( However, there are pre-orders for the GNO dolls with a date of this July, the CMC sets we just saw pictures in September, and PD Lagoona and Frankie in April. Not sure if this was mentioned before but the site says the Cleo and Ghoulia pack will be in August.

I think we came to the general agreement that although Saran Ghoulia would possibly be more valuable there are no distinct giveaways saying that she is in fact Saran. So to sell Ghoulia as a saran haired doll you would pretty much have to just trust the seller. I believe I have a saran and normal haired Ghoulia but once again, I don't have a way to tell 100% that one of them is saran. I feel a difference in the hair and one is made in China, one in Indonesia (which I think we determined didn't mean anything lol) and there's a difference in their lips (which only tells me which ones which). Beyond that, I'm not sure. I bought one nude so I can't compare clothing either. As far as I'm aware, its just in the hair, which doesn't say too much lol.

I just meant more along the lines of I'd like to know if people even like the idea of having an adult line. Because if they don't, then there's really no point in even trying to get one. Yeah me. I had to look at three different stores before finding one that is acceptable. She still has one eye that is slightly larger than the other, but every other incarnation of her had either had their eyes printed far above/below the socket or had the right (her right) eye tilted in a super weird angle.. like so (` _ -).

Mattel and similar companies do not accept ideas from outside sources, like PandaBerry said. They've even said as much when they have been contacted by people here. There are too many copyright issues. You might be able to contact "the source", but typically that arm of the corporation only interacts with other companies, and it's usually for merchandising. New characters and lines would be considered "intellectual property" and companies want to keep that in-house.
Something else to consider is that something like this would be a rather big break from the main franchise. It would require focus groups, and lots of research, not just making queries on fan boards. Fan boards shouldn't be discounted, of course; I know for a fact that Mattel reads the original MH board on LJ. But it's just a small part of where they get their data. Even if they were to take a concept from an outside source, I'm not sure if you have the resources to collect the necessary information. Just based off of what you've posted here; my apologies if I'm wrong :)
The final issue is whether or not a college setting would sell. It's a concept that a large portion of their target audience wouldn't be able to relate to. High school is far away enough to be "glamorous" to middle schoolers, but still relatable. Even outside the child/tween market, high school is something almost everyone has experienced; college is not. It's part of the reason that so much popular media avoids using it as a setting; shows either focus on a high school setting, or a "real world/career" setting.
Of course, this is all just coming from a random forum poster :P If you want to do the legwork and then contact Mattel, you don't need my "permission" lol. Just a little insight that might save you some time :)

I couldn't agree more. Speaking from personal experience as a freelance illustrator; when there is an established brand, like Monster High, all the original art work, character design, new characters etc is done "in house". They may hire you to color a book but not to overhaul the brand. While I could see Mattel reading some fan feedback to get an idea of what characters the fans want to get their hands on, I couldn't see them completely going in a different direction. Monster high currently is only second to Barbie, why would they need to appeal to the adult collector when that's a small market compared to the Tween market. Also you wouldn't be able to pitch the idea to another toy company as Mattel owns the rights to Mattel exclusively. You could shop a similar adult collector doll to another toy company but you'd have to make it so different where Mattel wouldn't sue you for violation of intellectual property. Good luck though it seems like you have some ideas. Maybe create your own line of dolls.

But with Mattel, if they made someone's OC, then they'll have to make EVERYONE'S OC, then it'll just be full of OC's and that'll just kill the whole franchise. >,>;

I can't find their response, but it was written assuming I was a member of their target audience rather than an adult male because it basically said that while they were sorry they couldn't accept any outside suggestions, they still wanted to encourage girls to pursue their creative dreams.

Skelita's granny is so cute (both as a kid and, well, a granny). Even though it was weird to see a skeleton with "meat on her bones" *g*
I really enjoy the characters much more when done in 2D. The TV specials don't have the worst CG out there, but I can't get over how same-face and slack-jawed all the character designs are.
Plus, they made my beautiful Spectra look dirty and grey and took away her nice hair!

Me too! Ever since my big shopping spree a week or 2 ago (i dropped like at least $150 in one day.) I've been telling myself that's it for now. Although a couple of the purchases that day were dolls to sell and most of my purchases since then have been the same. Unfortunately though it's kind of back firing because no one even wants the dolls I bought to sell. Not even on ebay! :(

Every person who's a bit into arts and crafts can learn how to create a BJD. The materials aren't even that expensive if you cook your own cold porcelain instead of buying Apoxie Sculpt or similar clays.

Well, several people did warn you that you shouldn't buy dolls just to try to sell them unless you had a buyer already lined up. It is never a guaranteed sell and even if you do manage to resell dolls unless they are rare you're often lucky to just break even. It's not a good idea to try and use selling MH dolls for profit as a way to make money if you can't afford the initial cost in the first place. It's a shame that even after people warned you against it you went out and spent more money on dolls and now you're stuck with them - there are collectors here who have been a part of the monster high community for several years, sometimes our advice is worth listening to.

can't you just return the dolls to the store that didn't sell for you? i don't think there is any harm in getting extras to sell, just as long as they are price resonably..
you gotta know whats fair and keep up with that.

honestly i am very suprised at how the prices on the older dolls sky-rockted, and haven't really seen any other toy line do that to THIS extent..
Thing is , it seems to me there is no way to know for sure who is going to increase in value.. right now the new dolls might not be worth more than retail, but in a few months or even a few years, some of these are gonna be htf, especially in good shape with all accessories. Just like DOTD.. of course some of them will be a dime a dozen too!
i am sure there is a doll who is a shelf warmer right now , who will be the next gill , we just can't predict who it will be!

Puku- How long ago did you get your Dawn of the Dance Frankie off Amazon?? I want a double of her.. primarily for her clothing..Hmm. Good question. The earliest photo of her on my Flickr stream is dated early November, but I'm pretty sure I had her for a while before that. Most likely it was sometime in September or October. She was out-of-box and came with all her accessories.

Also Fräulein_Kim I looked at the RM clawdeen again and noticed mine does have a slightly different left eye but....she looks so innocent and pretty compared to what I've seen! haha

I would be hesitant to invest in MH at all- the prices are high because there is a total craze going on right now, but what happens when the fickle kids get tired of them? And they WILL get tired of them eventually. It's definitely a game trying to guess the market if that is what you are doing- the prices of your dolls could skyrocket, or suddenly everyone will get tired of them and they will be worth store value or less.

Anyway back on topic, I agree that trying to invest in dolls is a gamble. The way I see it is, if you buy when they are retail price and you're comfortable holding onto them with the chance that they may increase in value great. I personally wouldn't go buy a $50 doll in hopes that it'll go up to $100, unless of course I wanted the doll for my collection. Now, I will admit, if there is something I see which has an amazingly good deal and is selling for under its value I would consider buying it. It depends on the doll though. Buying dolls for profit or for hopes of a future increase in value can be really risky.. you have to know how the dolls sell, keep up with what people are interested in, make note of how distribution works (which can still throw you for a loop) and know what makes dolls sell. You need to feel comfortable with the amount of money you're spending on a doll and make sure you would be happy if you weren't able to sell the doll. You have to understand that you may not get more then retail (maybe not even) or even be able to sell the doll and be happy to buy the doll anyway. I have a few dolls in my collection that probably wouldn't sell or would take FOREVER to sell but I'm ok with that because I like them. That's enough from me though :)Very true, Keep up to date with info and do research for what's hot and what's not on the market. While MH is pretty hot right now, rushing in reckless abandon thinking everything that comes/came out is gonna be worth a whole lot down the road is a BIG Risk and sometimes it'll work, or it'll come back and bite you on the rump.

I think all (ALL) collections are a fickle thing in means of an 'Investment'. If I were to invest my money, I'd buy gold coins, stock/shares or diamond rings. ;)this is totally why my dolls are MIB!
But stuff like toys, models, most art (unless by Picasso or Dali or Gogh,...) are subject to how many other people in the world do want just THAT given thing at THAT given time. It's no guarantee. Never. Never ever.
Even Gil or SDCC dolls might be worthless in a couple of years, so.. I wouldn't buy them with the intention to sell them for profit in the long run. :|

I myself am by no means a MIB collector, yet I decided to get doubles of ST Clawdeen and the PowerGhouls. Since I LOVE their packaging and want to keep that to look at time and time again, but also want to play and style that dolls. :)

I just want to say that by no means do I strictly buy MH just to sell them. I feel like I'm giving off the wrong impression. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just saying. I buy MH because I like them and I have a collection of my own. But there are a handful I've bought to use as trades or to sell off. I just don't want everyone to think I'm just in it for money or something because I'm not. Loli don't think that :)

Those people who want them have them already, and they weren't all that difficult to find even when they were first released. PD has been out for a couple of months now and are shelf-warmers at this point. The shelves aren't covered with them because they're not selling - the stores aren't going to stock more because they're not incredibly sought after, and people aren't really buying them because they're not brandspanking new. Unless you plan on holding onto them for a year or so, they're not worth buying with the intention to sell at a profit at this point.
I do have kind of high shipping on them but I'd rather it be more than enough and refund the buyer the difference than have to pay out of pocket for shipping because I didn't put it high enough.I completely understand wanting to charge enough to cover the shipping costs. For me as a ebay buyer though if I see a larger than average shipping charge on an item I usually pass on it. Just my two cents..... :blush:

I think a $10 finders fee is pretty steep, honestly. These are dolls that are still pretty common in stores, or else they were released in large enough numbers that most of the people who wanted them have all had a chance to get them. So I don't see many people being willing to pay such a huge markup. If you live an hour from a store, it seems like a pretty bad idea financially to spend 2 hours driving to buy current common dolls that aren't worth much money. For almost all of the MH dolls that are worth money, it is because they are older release dolls. You are trying to do an instant turnaround and expecting people to pay far more than market value. It just doesn't make sense. Even if you DO sell them you would be making a minuscule profit. I just don't think it makes sense financially for someone who doesn't have extra income to be spending hundreds of dollars and hours of time on a very unstable and unreliable venture.
You've asked for our advice a few times before but I suppose it's within your rights to not take it. Carry on doing what you want, in the end it's your money and they're your dolls. Hope you enjoy them!

Die-ner draculaura is cute enough to get, but not sure if I'd want to get that playset. Doesn't have much to match with, playset wise. Operetta matches the theme and all, just not liking her outfit, too simple like her other outfits.
I just want Operetta's outfit, but don't know what to do with the doll(s) X3
Wow! The more I see of what's coming out the more excited I get! The Heath looks awesome but he has the same problem as all the other guys do which is their features are too soft.

I noticed that too! It's Lagoona's DC bracelet! :)The reusing/recoloring of existing molds appears to have become standard practice now. In some cases, I don't mind; in others, it's kind of annoying. No doubt Mattel is just doing it to save money.

I'm so embarrassed and upset... I posted a comment on the pic of Heath and Abbey that Monster High Dolls put up. I wrote about how much I love them. I guess my mom saw that I "liked" the photo or something and went over to see it and commented on it, saying "Don't buy these for your kids". Yes. She posted that on a Monster High Dolls photo. I'm 28 and I haven't lived at home for four years, and my mom is still trying to take a big old dump on anything/everything I like that she happens to disapprove of. And in a public place devoted to the dolls she apparently dislikes, no less. I grew up feeling somewhat ashamed of many of the things I liked because SHE didn't like them and went out of her way to express that to me. I thought I was free from that now. I guess this just triggered me...

Dern, Toysrus didn't have the werecat 3 pack. Hubby saw the scaris cleo+lagoona set, but he was like "I'm not getting you a set if you don't like one of the dolls, that's just silly." Next week we'll go back to see if they have the 3 pack, maybe he'll change his mind on the scaris set because I keep talking about those beautiful octopus accessories!

Not interested in the GNO line at all really. Not even for their outfits.
I agree about lagoona. She just always has this blank expression on her face. I feel like the other ghouls are a lot more expressive and have more character. Some of Rochelle's dolls have weird facial expressions to me too.Mad Science Lagoona has a really sweet expression. I think that's partly why she's my favorite Lagoona.
Urgh, that sucks. I think parents who try to passiv-agressively guilt-trip their kids are a pain in the ***.
I'm lucky to have parents who always approved of the toys I wanted (even when I suddenly started to collect them again as an adult, haha), but I know a lot of people who get crap for their completely harmless love for nice looking toys and/or collectors items and it makes me shake my head so hard.
Should I ever have children, I will be glad if they find joy in something harmless instead of, you know, violence and drugs? :P
I want to like her comment & say, "Yeah! More for me!" I'd do it just to tick her off, even though I might get flamed. :P
*hugs* I'm always saddened to read things like this at the arena. Even while you're upset, I'm sure there's a part of you that knows that you don't need her permission to like things, so listen to it! So many people put themselves through misery trying to please their parents, and it's not worth it - your life is no more or less successful for having your parents give the thumbs up. You could always say to her: 'That's just, like, your opinion and stuff'. Always silences my mother! XD

These three look way more awesome than the first wave of Picture Day dolls. I hope we get them here in NZ. I love Frankie the most, but I'll probably get Lagoona and Operetta as well, at least for their outfits if not the dolls too.
I really feel like they've lost the plot when it comes to Lagoona's style. It's like they just don't know what to do with her, so they just plonk as much color and random embellishments on her as possible in hopes that no one will notice.yeah as big of a goona fan as i am, i haven't really been feelin' her recent releases.. i think her best releases are wave 1, wave 2 , dotd, DT and rollermaze.. i wish they would give her a bit more of a sporty look, i like PD better than GNO or DOt dead gorgous though..
I like all the individual pieces of her PD outfit, but I don't like them all together. If I get her, I'll probably do a mix and match. Although I'm not sure I want the doll, even though she does have freckles after all ... I might just get her pink tights and that's it.
I'm definitely getting Frankie, though, and possibly also Operetta (if nothing else, I'm getting her jacket, that's for sure!).

another thing since DOTD they have quick giving the ghouls tights.. i really wish they could have tights with some of there dresses again, i feel like mattel is cheaping out there, to me tight just make the dresses look less plain and more finished. ( how cute was 2.0 lalas outfit!!) I my self am not a fan of going bare legged with mini skirts and short dresses so maybe that also contributes to why i feel this way.I'm not sure I follow you there. I thought they were giving the girls tights and leggings more often. Just look at the Picture Day line: Spectra, Cleo, Abbey and Lagoona all have tights/leggings.
they could at least give 'em socks but they aren't even doing that so much anymore :(

Now, I will say that I'm disappointed to see PD Operetta re-using a mask. Not that I mind the re-cast (it's black, not white or purple), but because the spider web design in the promo pic is so much cuter!

I like this idea for catty but I agree it's a little to PINK! . :lol: I think purple would be much more awesome and it would give her that darker/goth/monster vibe. I still think mattel is doing so much pink because these are toys mainly for little girls.

In general, I really don't mind re-used accessories. They're usually fairly basic pieces, like the hightops that we get from time to time, or a somewhat non-descript hoops or bangles. They're usually a different color, so it's almost like being new (who here has undies or sneakers in the same style but different colors? ME!). Most doll lines have a boring re-used design for a lot of their stuff. I think we're lucky to have so much variety.

Hmmm, if that image of Catty is the real deal, it could be Darko Djordjevic's work. He did the official promo art for the Werecat Twins, as well as the illustrations for the "Ghoulfriends Forever" books, and this looks like his style.

As far as the character goes, I like the idea of a truly black-skinned doll, I think the execution could be gorgeous, though I admit that I'm not much into the more frou-frou styles of MH. Her outfit is a bit too Pepto Bismol pink for me, however I do like the cracked mirror top, it's a cute touch.
I'd have to reserve my final judgment of this character for the actual doll. Her style may be a nice counterbalance to Toralei and the Twins' punk rock style, and she would look cute next to Catrine. Going by the character's ears, I'd say they would be re-using Toralei's mold this time around, rather than the Twins'.
I know money talks, and the werecats are likely seeing a good enough of a demand for Mattel to focus on them as much as they have, but I'm one who thinks that they're are getting to be a bit much, and this coming from someone who adores cats. They're even starting to become the majority of filler background characters in the CGI specials, lol. I wonder if it's intentional? ;) If they're going to give us repeat monsters, I'd like to see some of the other concepts used.
