BTW - I heard a rumor that MLP was BABW best selling plushes ever. Is this true?

One of the members here works for BAB and I could be wrong but I think she mentioned that they were the best selling "licensed/limited edition" line. :)

My guess is that these will be out in March or April. It won't be Feb because that's when BABW is releasing the Disney Palace Pets/Marvel Bears. In the past there has been a 3-4 month gap between MLP releases. Fluttershy came out in Nov. 3-4 months after that is Jan-Feb. Jan is too soon after Christmas and Feb is already taken by Disney. I can't see them waiting past April first. One employee did say "summer", but I doubt she meant the calendar summer. Stores tend to put out their summer releases in the spring. She most likely meant that Rarity (and friends) will come out with their summer releases.

I went ahead and took some pictures of the dress on Twilight Sparkle. I can't WAIT to try it on Rarity!!!!! I do want to note that it fits TS and PP, but not RD or Fluttershy. That's because the base of TS's wings is smaller than RD or FS.

Does anyone know if the UK have the confirmed early release at all? I haven't received any emails yet from them, but the last time I got an email saying 'Available now' I visited BaB they told me it was online only (which wasn't mentioned on the advert, of course). Even though they had the actual plush in the backroom, they weren't allowed to sell them until a week after the early release.
I hope she'll be available in-store. ;) The banner just doesn't say. But if it's online only, that's great for the people who are just planning to order that way!

Even if they won't at your store, stuffing only takes a moment, and you can request not to do the heart thing--in training, they're instructed to respect that. Good luck!

In the comments you can add that you want a lot of stuffing in the head and legs. Those are the problem areas for the ponies.

Went down to Build a Bear earlier today and had a very exciting conversation with a lady at the stuffing machine. I asked about Rarity, she said that she would be hitting Australia around the 4th - 6th April, and that mini Sweetie and Scootaloo would be following around the 16th. I was really disappointed by the wait for the minis but she cheered me right up by informing me that Applejack and mini Apple Bloom will be following around July, and that AFTER THEM... She can see Trixie and Zecora in the computer system!!! :cheer: I can't wait!

Hmm, then I wonder if it's more how the plushie is stuffed. My Rarity's legs are shorter, but I don't think they're that wide apart.That's very possible. How a plushie is shaped while it's being stuff can make a huge difference (especially in the face).

The difference in size is minimal. I'm pretty sure the reason for the higher cost is the fact that the fillies have brushable hair. I got the last two SBs in the store and one was a display model.

Yes! If you acquired enough hair and made your own weft, you could undo the mane seam and resew it with your weft pieces inserted. There are lots of tutorials and guides for sewing wefts into wig netting to add more hair for volume/colour, I think it might even be easier with a plush toy because the whole base of the weft is hidden inside the head. You would just need to carefully arrange it amongst the seam and stuffing so that it's not too bulky.

Are these available in the UK yet? The BaB in Covent Garden said they were getting Rarity in last Friday but I haven't had a chance to go back and see if she's there since then. One of the few plushies I'm determined to add to my pony herd!
Finally got my Rarity today! I love her so much!
I took my dad with me, and he decided he wanted a bear of his own (lol), but he was kind of embarrassed about it. I know the employees do all the cutesy stuff for the kids, and it's great, but this one worker just would NOT STOP asking my dad questions about why he was buying the bear even though it's clear a grown man doesn't need to be treated like a child. He made up a story about it being for a friend's son's birthday, but she STILL wouldn't quit. It was so irritating and NOT pleasant at all- it was literally like she was choosing to embarrass him. My poor dad! He just wanted a bear :\

Well, I hesitate to do anything because the lady wasn't saying anything MEAN, but she was just overly persistent and nosy when it's clear that if a grown man is buying a bear, chances are he doesn't want to talk about it.

That was my drama that I mentioned. I tried to buy online using a visa vanilla gift card which states you can use it for online purchases. I grabbed the gift card that had the least amount for activation fees. So, after you go to the website and you put in your zip code you're supposed to use it online. Well, you can't. I called, because every time I attempted to purchase at build a bear with that card on their website it was declined even though I had enough money and hadn't spend anything yet. They said you can't purchase online, because it doesn't have a billing address tied to it, even though it says on the website you can. So, someone is lying. You can use it in stores, but that's it. Also, apparently visa vanilla gift cards get charge their customers with maintenance fees, which I believe is $2.50 after the first 7 months of owning the card the money will be drained off your card. Nice huh?! So, I've been buying things with the card in stores to use up the card so I can be done with it. So, on the build a bear website it says you can use build a bear gift cards to make purchases. That's not 100% true. You still need credit card information in order to make purchases with your gift card, which makes no sense. You put in billing information during your purchase process. I've been trying to purchase Rarity online since day one when she was available online so you can see why I'd be frustrated. I don't have a credit card and want to avoid getting one as much as possible.
Yay! I'm happy you finally got to get Rarity. They are such big, lovely, cuddly plushies! It is a shame that they don't have more hair, though. Especially Rarity and Fluttershy.
I didn't get any of the clothes for any of mine, either. I kind of want Fluttershy's, but in any case, the clothes are waaay too expensive.

The lady at the Store told me when I was there making Rarirty that AJ and Applebloom will be out anytime in May :) she even gave me a coupon to come back and use it towards them ,

**sigh.** Why is it that every time I try to ask Build-a-Bear a question on Facebook about release dates, I get a very unhelpful answer? Both times now, the responder has refused to acknowledge an earlier release date. It seems to be common knowledge, so I don't know why they feel they have to continue keeping it under wraps. First I asked about Rarity back in March and the other day I asked about the July Ponies. Both times I've been given the first release date instead of the later-decided early release date.

For those of you who have bought BAB ponies online, I got a question. Do they ship the ponies in a bigger box? Or do they smash them down into the cubhouse so they can close the flaps? Whenever I buy animals online they're shipped in a cubhouse and the four flaps that make to roof are folded down flat. You can't do that with a pony. Not without smashing her. They're too big.

Unfortunately I dont believe in supporting this belief that some companies have that its acceptable to premium product something just because there is a collectors market for it :( Sell the item at the same as their other products or a touch more but £19-25 moves the item from affordable to a more serious considered purchase. I do want Zecora but I would have been happier about the price jump if I could believe any future products offered this way will not be marked up.
Its been way too successful a line for BAB to decide not to do it again when MLP and FiM are still riding so high. Sure, no doubt each of the already released characters will be cycled in and out again with perhaps the odd new addition, but I dont see them pulling the line only a year or so after they launched it.

Exactly this. If you had commissioned someone for Zecora vs. a standard pony, you will definitely pay much higher. As a plush maker, stripes are NOT fun and they'll cost you...way too much work is involved, its not a standard zebra print either :(

That is exactly how I feel!! I think its crazy that they just randomly decided to make Zecora more expensive than all the others. It seems like the only reason they would do this is because they know that collectors are willing to pay more. I have seen Build a Bear do lots of questionably shady things and this is just another thing to add to my list. Although I still love build a bear I am just not willing to pay that much...I am considering a ninja turtle though :biggrin:

:biggrin: Got Trixie stuffed (the lady at the score squeed when I took her out of my bag. She said they're not allowed to sell them unstuffed here ( :blink: ) so she hadn't seen Trixie in person yet and she called to show the other employee working as well :lol: . I told her I had bought the pony in Canada and we had a lovely conversation whilst she filled Trixie (she didn't ask to see a receipt it's worth noting, so you do NOT need one to get your BAB stuffed) and Trixie's barcode worked so I could fill out her birth certificate :) I grabbed AppleBloom whilst I was there, too (they had loads of her, thankfully, but it doesn't look like the UK stores had a re-release of Scootaloo so I'm glad I grabbed her in Canada).

I have a question.............I just received my new build a bear Donatello that I ordered online. I absolutely love him and I got the cotton candy scent for the first time. My only thing is.....they put the scent all the way at the bottom of one of his feet?? Does anyone know if this is where they normally would put one? It smells really good but I just assumed they would have put it in his belly.......but maybe it won't smell as strong there because there would be more stuffing??I'm not sure, but on the build a bear website it says that they place the scent in the paw, but in the store, they put the scents in the belly.

Build-a-Bear has a flyer thingie for their holiday plans! There are pictures of the Frozen plushies. There seem to be actual Anna and Elsa bears, unless they're just standard bears dressed in Frozen costumes. And there's Olaf, too. The "Let It Go" sound is already available in the store. I've heard it the last couple of times I've been there. They also say Celestia will come mid-December.

Glad that someone else got up the pic. :) When I try to scan magazine paper, it always goes funny and pixelated. Although I would have been willing to do it anyway if the other, clearer picture didn't exist.
That was the American release time for Celestia; perhaps in the U.K. she'll come out sooner?

Let me look again later....i don't remember Christmas bears either....exactly why i hid the brochure from my daughter....the complete line of reindeer! She'll want them all.....i had gone in to get Toothless....finally! I wish they would release Celestia sooner than mid December....i hate going to the mall close to Christmas....sooooo crowded!
Is Celestia out in the UK or something? I've seen a couple pictures of her on Instagram. NOT stock photos, REAL photos! I don't know if it is the UK... the post didn't state a country... just that she wasn't out in the US yet. I'll see if I can find it again.

And wooow, she's gorgeous. I really hadn't planned to get their Celestia, since I'm pretty happy with the Funrise release, but hmm. More photos like that could change my mind.

Does anybody else think that "mid-Dec" is kind of... oh, I don't know... INSANE!!!!! You got this hot ticket item and you're going to release it a week (maybe less) before Christmas. News flash! Parents have already finished their Christmas shopping by then. And I thought releasing Fluttershy on Black Friday was BAD!!!
Granted, BABW has been known to change release dates at the last minute. I'm hoping that's the case here. I can't think of ANY company that releases a hot item that close to Christmas.
Regardless, I will most likely be buying her online. Last year I got a VIB pass to get Fluttershy early. Even though it was a week or so before Thanksgiving, BABW was still packed. I waited in line for the stuffing station for over 2 hours! I do not want to do that again.

Okay, I went to BABW here in English today aaand - the Elsa, Anna, and Olaf dolls are already in stores (Elsa and Anna have tinsel in their fur, which feels nasty and abrasive. Very disappointed), and the leaflet says that Celestia is mid-December release and will likely be £20.
I hope they get the reindeer in next month, though, because I want Cupid <3
I have to agree that I was disappointed when I saw the Anna and Elsa bears. I am only going to get Olaf. I read somewhere online that you take some sort of personality test that matches you with your perfect reindeer. Sounds interesting......but from the pictures it looks like there are really only 2 different reindeer variations and the rest are just clothes/name tag differences??? Is that right?? or are they all actually different........
Celestia is slightly more expensive in the UK, too. My guess is the more complicated design.
And man do I wish her crown and necklace could be bought separately from the dress...
(BAB have their reindeer in :D they're super cute but the girl one has that nasty, scratchy tinsel in her fur :mad: BAB, why are you making your toys LESS cuddle-able!?)
I went out yesterday to have a look at Celestia in person (she's gorgeous, and the tinsel is thin and flexible, it doesn't make her mane frizzy or scratchy) and ended up having a very informative chat with a person working there. I told her that I'm collecting the ponies, she told me about the upcoming releases and showed me a book she had behind the desk that had photos and approximately when to expect them. Princess Luna, Princess Cadence and Shining Armor are on their way! :cheer:
The book said for release potentially around March 2015. Luna is a dark navy blue and comes with a cape similar to Celestia's except instead of swirls it has circular moon shapes, and is darker purple and magenta coloured. Cadence I didn't look too closely at, but she looked pale pink with pink wings, and her dress was goldy coloured, possibly her wedding gown. Shining Armor comes with his red guard's coat, which is what I was more focused on. A boy pony, in merch form, with appropriate accessories! :inlove: I couldn't see much of his hair from the angle of the photo so I'm unsure if he's got a mohawk or not. I'm so glad they're doing the whole royal family, a complete collection of them is going to look AWESOME! I asked her if I could take a photo of the book page but she said no. The photos looked similar to the first images we saw of Applejack/Apple Bloom/Trixie/Zecora, where they were stood on a kind of conference table. Now I wish time would move faster, March seems forever away :P

I am desperately trying to find one for my little girl for Christmas. I drove 2 hours to our nearest BAB and they were all sold out of her. The website is also sold out. I emailed BAB and they said she is retired and will no longer be available. A store clerk however said she should go back in stock after New Years. I am so confused! :blink: I saw online the uk website still has her... sadly they don't ship here. :cry:

Called about Trixie to one of the shops and they said Retired for good, Celestia coming in the middle of December,I was thinking she was going to be released this weekend .Guess I am getting stuck dropping $100+ on her for Christmas. :cry: But I can't disappoint my little girl.
Both my husband and I emailed Build A Bear and we were both told to different things. He was told she was retired and they have no plans in bringing her back. Then I was told she will briefly be available again in December.... So pretty much they have no idea what's going on. Looks like someone needs to get organized that way customers can get some correct information. :huh:
Yea that's what I was afraid of not unless I could have someone possibly unstuff her then ship her to the US. Which may make it a bit cheaper... maybe? There is even only one listing on ebay at the moment. O well I guess. Their CS can be a bit...off. I had a rep address me by the wrong name even though it was in my email address, signature, etc :blink: You might be able to find someone in another country (have you tried Canadian BABW?) to mail you one. I'm unsure if from the UK would wind up cheap - the bears are slightly more expensive than in the US, plus postage as Trixie is online-only, and they won't sell them unstuffed, then postage to the US....
Failing that, you might be able to find someone to commission a child-friendly plush for around $100 as Trixie's colours and design are fairly simple.

I started selling my BAB ponies ,space and lack of proper storage for these are an issue, prefer to sell them before they get too dusty or show signs of age on them :)

I have to agree. I have been wanting to sell off mine too but have been putting it off because I don't think I will make my money back. Mine don't have the tags and have been gently played with by my daughter but some of the hair is already getting frizzy. Rarity is the worst. I brushed it 2 times and the tail already started getting all fuzzy at the end and Fluttershy has terrible hair too. I think after the holidays when I have some time I am going to sell them off (I only have 4). The only one I would consider getting is Shining Armor depending on what kind of hair he has....or of course Big Mac. Speaking of........I really hope we get some pics of Shining Armor soon!
