I'd hate for them to end up like the "Vehicon" toys ended up being for Transformers Prime. They were short-packed in their wave AND everyone wanted them for army building since they are drones. Trying to find them online wouldn't have been any better. Buying one of them would have have easily set you back 30 or 40 bucks at the height of their popularity so they were also scalped. x-x

Yeah, i don't like their eyes either. Shining also bothers me more because he has a white body. His eyes kinda blend in. Big Macintosh and Dr. Hooves have "dopey", droopy looking eyes on their Funkos, too. They just doesn't have as many toys as Shining Armor so it doesn't seem as prominent for them.

Cadence looks lovely, Shining Armour...not so much :lol: He looks high! I think his Mystery Mini will look better, as his eyes won't look so weird as the whites will stand out more.

Considering we've seen pictures of the Spike figure next to the ponies, I don't think his size will be a guessing game. It'll just be a matter of how he's sold.
That's what I meant :lol: He's a bit taller than my other mystery minis (comparing them when stood next to Lyra), but as the Princesses are taller than the others anyway maybe Funko will make Wave 3 of the Minis have larger boxes to accommodate? He might just be the right size to fit into a Mini box or (hopefully) they'll make a unique box for him...
Ohhhh, okay! I have a feeling he'll have his own unique box down the line. Maybe he'll even be a Target, Walmart, or Walgreens exclusive (I've been hoping for more of those since other Funko products get them)!
Funko tend to only make variants exclusive (like the black Rainbow Dash and the metallic POPs!) so I hope they won't deviate from that formula as it makes it easier for everyone to at least get the core line. It would be interesting to see variants of Spike, though! I imagine they will try to keep him part of this line, too, but a black Spike to match the other Minis would be pretty cute <3

Man, glitter Cadance is a let down. She could have looked a bit more "nice/pretty", you know? She looks more "dull orange" than pink. Glitter Shining Armor isnt too cool-looking, either.
I'm not sure if I am done with Funkos entirely, but I may just pass on this wave/set for now.
Hm- well I am glad they aren't pink... but the colors don't really work do they? Ah well, I have too many Funkos anyway, the completionist in me is screaming that I need all of the releases including glitters- but the other part of me points out that I will just pack them into a plastic crate, since the ones I have no longer fit.

I'm not worried about the release date though, I know the mess of Tia and Luna was because of the Strike and holidays. I'm sure these will be on time with the shipments like other waves were. Stores are always goofy though those sometimes are very late anyways.

I think they look great. I pre-ordered Princess Cadance and Shining Armor for myself. I'm not very fond of the variants. Not sure what I will do if I get one. Try to switch it out at the store? Or if they sell well online maybe I could use the money to buy the normal version and more ponies with the profit.

So I JUST got another email from Hot Topic a few minutes ago.
Like the last email, it provides an apology for the delay, blames the delay on the port strike, and agreed to deduct cost of shipping.

Which means- the ponies finally arrived, and they anticipate it will take a couple of days to get them unpacked and shipped back out.
I imagine most if not all people who preordered these may have received or may receive the same message.

My pair arrived today & it's one hit & one miss! Not on glitters (whew!) but on QC. :huh: This Cadance is the most beat up, flawed, & generally poor Funko I've ever seen. I mean, she has paint splatters on pieces of her that don't have, & aren't even near, any place having that color paint! Rubs, glue, gouges, overspray, places they got paint & tried to wipe it off...Her tail's also falling out, but I got her right off the truck & she was really hot so the glue is soft. I'm tolerant of a flaw or four but she's bad. >_<
Shining Armor, on the other hand, is perfect! Super, minty, LSQ flawless! (I really like his design too - wasn't too sure about the whole uniform thing)

I'll try keeping an eye out. By the way, glitter Cadance and Shining Armor are made of a much softer material than the regular vinyls, so there's no chance of anything falling off. Smart move, Funko! The vinyls themselves also seem to be a bit better, although Cadance has a few minor problems (all of them seem to. I checked the different ones at my local Hot Topic and they had all some paint issues here and there). Overall, they aren't bad.

I'm going to have to return the Cadance I got, though. Her quality is absolutely terrible. Stray marks all over her and her butt is completely flat like she'd been dropped on it while her plastic was still hot. :/ No wonder they keep it so dark in Hot Topic... -_-

That's absolutely ridiculous considering how "easy" it has been for people to find glitter Cadance. She's like the Celestia or Discord of this wave.
And no, I'm not saying that EVERYONE will have an easy time finding her, just that she seems to be more abundant than glitter Shining Armor is based on what I've seen. At least right now. Personally, I'd never pay over $60 for a pony that is sure to drop below $50 if you give it some time. ALL of the glitter ponies have dropped in price eventually, so there's no reason to pay a crazy price. For instance, there was a time when glitter Bon Bon and Spitfire were going for 100s of $, but now you can find them both for under $50. ;) If you're not too fussed about having her right away, you'll get her for a decent price in a few months, maybe even less (I have to keep reminding myself of this with glitter Luna).
I dun Really collect funko vinyl figures in general so I dont really Know the trends about the glitters vs regulars. Thanks tho! Ill just wait and get her in a few months :)

People say the same thing with every wave. The price always falls- usually to the $43/$45 mark. EVEN SPITFIRE and Sweetie Drops, who were released only in comic shops at first, and people swore that the glitter prices would never fall. Well, they did. There are only so many people out there collecting these after all, and none of the waves are limited edition, so if you wait long enough, the demand will die down.
I still think Luna will stay number one for a long time there's so much demand for her, and being such a favorited character, plus one of the coolest glitters I think she will float high for a long time. However your best bet to snag a good price is to get one for a buy it now cheap on eBay that doesn't know her demand. If enough flood the market being lowly listed then her price will fall some. I paid close to $90 for Bon Bon and her price has dropped dramatically since then. She was the only glitter I paid over $50 for, I didn't even pay that much for Spitfire! It hurt me so much that I overspent on her that I won't do it again, even for a pony that looks as gorgeous as Luna does.
Also, when you're moving into a new house, getting married before the end of the year and trying to save up for the pony fair, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to patiently wait for something to drop in price it if means having more money in your pocket. ;) Like, I wish I could spend the money on glitter Luna and get it over with, but my wallet says "no". :lol:
Oh, I also got glitter Spike! My fiance got him on eBay for me for a really good price (I don't understand how he finds these deals better than me) and I should have him on Saturday or Monday!

In a way I was glad I bought Bon Bon when I did because she and Spitfire never showed up in any Hot Topic around here. Which I thought was really weird. It's not like I live in some remote area! I got Spitfire for $50 + shipping thanks to AquaticNeon. All the other glitters I have were either found in store, gotten in my pre-order, or bought on eBay/conventions/from friends for less than $50. So I figure Luna will drop soon, whenever she becomes more widely available. I've been pretty lucky so far, so I can't complain too much when I don't find a glitter right away.
I'm usually a very impatient person, but I think I can do it with these... yup... just gotta keep telling myself that!
what are the average prices of glitters after tbe prices fall? Like 50?It can vary. I'd say around $30 to $50 depending on what character it is.

Rainbow Dash and :muffin: were SDCC exclusives a few years ago, so Amazon had them in stock as well which is why they were so cheap.

Yeah, that's why I said 'were'. Those two are a special case though, since they were limited. So it makes sense for their prices to go up. None of the other glitters are limited, not until Funko decides to start retiring pony vinyls like they do with Pop figures.

I haven't really had the time to go to the mall or anything, but if you don't get help from someone else with this soon, I'm willing to pick up a Shining Armor and Cadance for you.
@Galactica but Funkos are the same size as G1s! Thats one of the coolest things about them plus they make boys, htf ponies, accurate ponies, and cutie marks on both sides everything that hasbro is missing. To display in boxes they do take up quite a bit of room especially if you collect them all however if you display out of box they don't take up much room at all especially if you display them like people display G1 ponies lots of times lined up. Funko ponies are one of my all time favorites they feel like G1 to me I love how they look exactly like the animation since I love FIM. I am so looking forward to more characters and the Hikari line I ope to get all the villains at some point from them. I do hope with the mystery mini line and the vinyl line that we start to see more poses too, however I like the pose they are in a lot so I'm fine with it.

Moonbeam has a great example of how she has hers displayed showing how they don't take up much room. Eily Also has a great setup against a wall stacked up. I still think 15 build a bears would take up an entire room, and zilla ponies, etc are much larger. Moonbeam can you post that photo I saw on your instagram?

She has her orange stripe and besides Rainbow was the first Funko pony to come out so really she was just a test for the line, they have improved so much since them in the accuracy realm. The Hikari ones coming out are even more accurate. Two boys? More like 5 boys now Dr Whooves, Big Mac, Shining Armor, Discord, and Spike. Funko ponies only been around 2-3 years right now while G1 was out for 10 years and didn't even have boys until year 5 I believe? By then who know how many more boys we will have. depending on how you arrange them you can line them up very easily, I think its silly that people think space is such an issue with them, they are nothing compared to build a bear, zillas, fashion styles, styling, plushies, etc. 10 build a bears takes up the space of like 100 Funko ponies atleast.
Um, guys? I kinda just popped in here, but why would we argue about Hasbro vs. Funko, anyway? Hasbro licensed the characters to Funko. They're all ponies. The Funko ponies are just a line of MLP that some people like to collect for various reasons, and some people don't want for various reasons... just like any other line (BBE, SS, TE, etc.).
Anyway, I only have 1 Funko (full size; I do have a few mystery minis) -- I don't have a problem with them; I just don't have any stores around me that sell them, and I'm more able to restrain myself when shopping online. ;) But I might have trouble resisting that Spike! :D Now if only they would make a mini of Spike (which I'm sure they will eventually).

Seriously though- they would all look SO much better with glitter manes- I wish they had gone that direction. Especially for Celestia and Luna. I think that the streak of clear is why I like Luna so much...THIS. In fact- I hate celestias weird hollow mane.
