Saw this girl on taobao this morning (the seller only has one and I can't buy her, sigh :(). She's different to the original Minty, with pink eyes, no stripe in her mane and her cutie mark has a black outline... she also looks like a different shade of green?
Fingers crossed this means Hasbro are planning an official release!

It's most likely a testing pony since it don't look as polished as the other type.
I actually dont mind most of the changes...I prefer most of it, only negative are the black circles.

but the CM is kinda weird, I mean, it reminds me of honeybuzz' CM but I like her CM, unlike this one :/

I prefer the older G4 Minty, with the non outlined cutie mark and the stripe in her hair; also, this shade of green is not as pretty. But, I'm pleased to see another prototype come out! Hopefully, that means we'll be seeing her in stores (eventually).

AaaaaH!!!! :D have my prayers FINALLY been answered!? Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosshhhh even if this is just one Minty.... I am excited to see this! This is my favorite Earth Pony!!! Its weird cuz I had a dream about her a few days ago!!! I do prefer the other g4 minty but id be happy with her!

I am gonna wake up from the anesthesia and mumble, "Minty?" =P I wish there was more of them! Seriously.... if anyone runs into more please buy me one too!

-dies of excitement- This is a fantastic sign, yes! I do have to say, though, if she's released like this, I'm going to have to customize one to look like the original one, because she is much prettier than this Minty by a mile.
And you know that I have to say this...if anyone finds any more of them and does a group order, I would love it if you could save me a spot! I'm going to be in and out because I'm watching my sister's dog and I don't know if I'll have Internet, of course if not I understand. That's even if anymore show up!

I actually like her without the stripe - more reminiscent of the G3 Minty in my opinion. But I agree the black outline is a little odd.
Maybe we will get really lucky and she will be in one of the future playful pony waves. :) After all we no longer have TS so those girls need someone to make up the 6th :P

MLPG4merch on Tumblr posted her, so I rushed over to see her here. :P I hope this means a future Minty release! I liked the green body better than the sort of aqua color they've got her in now, but she's still cute.
(And the black outlines do sort of detract from the symbol... I hope that's not something Hasbro decides to stick with, lol.)

Mintyyyyy! Wow, that certainly took long enough. The original prototypes were from early 2011, so they have certainly taken their sweet time with her. I like the new design, black outlines and all. I hope when she is released she looks just like that.

I was thinking it was the lightning or the camera too. I dunno how many pics I have seen of Sunset and many have different sorts of hues on her.

They finally got her eye color right! I miss the stripes in her hair, though. The cutiemark looks weird too, I think they should use a more subtle color to outline it.

This is a really good sign! I really hope we see her on store shelves sometime soon! :) I agree that her coloring isn't quite as nice as the original run of prototypes, but I'd still buy seven of these, all day every day.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy to see Minty being re made but I really like the "green" of the older verision alot better. She looks more blue but then again it could be camera flash? I also really miss the purple eyes. I can live with the outline symbols and no stripe.

I like both, but I definitely like the cutie mark on the older one better. The black outline looks strange. I don't really care what shade of green she is, though, I do like the shade of green that the 2008 Winter Minty is, over the shade used for donkey pose Minty.

I'd personally pay more for the older one because they look better and were true prototypes. You never now if this one is getting a release or not, possible so.

You'd have to take offers. It's really hard to gauge a true value. I hope more pop up...the more I look at her the more I love this version best!

If it was REALLY a problem, it would be easy to rehair stripes in her hair.

There is one thing I am wondering about... Though I have no current plans to sell her, how much do you think she will be worth? I have seen that the previous mintys have gone up to 300 dollar, but this one, well she is a bit of a one of a kind so far...
My guess is that if you sold her right away when you get her, you could easily fetch $150, since people seem to have both prototype and Minty fever. That value will drop though when they come out en masse. The old prototype Mintys may take a bit of beating price-wise too, but not as badly since they are still unique. At the moment, those old Mintys are worth more simply because they have been around longer without being released. If yours does turn out to be a one of a kind, it could surpass the worth of the other Mintys sometime in the future.
The situation would probably turn out like Wysteria and Pinkie Pie. Everyone got excited about translucent ponies and thought they might be buying prototypes after those other translucent ponies were never released. Those ponies are starting to show up more and more though now, indicating a release, so prices are dropping.

Looks more like recent FLuttershy pink, and the light pink on ponies like Star Swirl, very neon under a black light, doesn't seem to be the same as the fading pink, at least compared to a few unfaded G1s.

I kind of wonder this too. They see that a certain pony is wanted or asked for and they make some. I don't believe that is really the case, but you never know!

I feel like in both cases Minty is almost too good to be a bootleg or knock-off. IMO, Hasbro requested that Minty be made but later decided they did not want to market her for whatever reason so they stopped producing her in the prototype stage.
This new Minty screams prototype more than the old one did. The first one was very polished and official looking, I was so sure it was going to be released! Ah well. Only time will tell.

12 was an estimate (I am pretty sure there are less than a dozen). Alright, I did some number digging for Minty. The ebay seller who had the majority of them sold 7 of them (all she had). Someone else bought a Minty directly from Taobao. So, we know there are at least 8. I thought I had heard that there was an additional Taobao listing of 2, that someone else had bought, but I am not sure whether or not that is included in the original count.
So, there are at least 8 of the old Mintys. Now yours can be Minty 9.
EDIT: oh yeah, forgot to mention that I watched most of them get sold on ebay, and I agree with the number that the ebay seller said. I think of the original 8, there have been 2 or 3 re-sales.

Unfortunately I didn't record any of this (I wish I wrote it down), but the sales went approximately something like this over time:
Pony 1: (straight from Taobao ~$5 bucks)
Pony 2: $150
Pony 3: $125
Pony 4: $90
Pony 5: $70
pony 6: $70
Pony 7: $125
Resale of Pony 7: $70 (I bought that)
Resale of a Pony: Ebay said both $400 something and $600 something so I was confused by that
Pony 8: $319
The only numbers I know for sure are the resale of pony 7 and the sale of pony 8, as I was unable to find the rest of the numbers. If anyone has the real numbers, feel free to correct this. I feel like I forgot one of the resales too.
As for timeframe, 1-7 were probably all sold around August/September of 2011. I bought mine Christmas 2011. The latest one was sold November 3rd 2012.
Her manufacture date is January 7th 2011.

If they made G4 brushable versions of the original G1 ponies, I'd not only buy it, but I'd preorder it.
I'd do the same with any previous generation, honestly. I don't care if I'd have to buy a new apartment for all my ponies. I'd snatch up every previous generation that I could get my hands on. The older gens in G4 form are freaking adorable.

I'd love to see more older gen ponies making it into G4! I'm really stoked about that glittery Wysteria.
That being said, I don't like the black outlines. Looks like an error to me. But the rest is still very Minty! I wasn't a fan of the blue eyes. Pinks look more true to the original :)

No they are actually mixed- 3 original and the rest black outlined. Srry, should have been more specific! I meant 15 'Minty' in general. 10 more black outlined have been spotted, I wish the original would appear again.....

Yes, that's what I'm going to keep telling myself. And if these two (Minty and Wysteria) do well then maybe we have some hope for some G1 to G4 ponies. Glory and Firefly seem to be really popular with the retro merchandising. I really, really want a G4 Glory and maybe also Bowtie and Medley....

Yes, so far by my count there are 3 different sellers. Two of those sellers are selling both version 1 and version 2 of Minty. By my count there are about 16 version 2 Mintys and 6 version 1 Mintys on ebay right now.
I do find it extremely odd that there are so many of two different versions running around right now.
OH, here's a thought. Since they all seem to be sharing photos, maybe there is only one version of Minty being produced but the sellers are just borrowing photos of the other version since they figure it is close enough?

I caved and bought version A Minty, aka the original release. I know she will probably be released officially as a fair exclusive, but LOL I have been waiting for this moment and saving up for it since last winter. I went ahead and got one but I dont want to pressure people into buying one especially if they dont have the $. I hope she is officially released for everyone that wants one!!! Whats funny is I forgot I emailed Hasbro a while ago about Minty and tried to make it persuasive so they could push her for release. I dont think I had much part into Hasro releasing her, Hasbro probably planned this for a while! Its just funny to my friends and I heehee, such a funny coincidence! xD

I just bought what I hope is a real Type A Minty as well. Need those purple eyes! Plus, if she IS the fair pony, she'll cost as much as she was on eBay, so I won't feel as though I overpaid. Unless she is still lurking somewhere on TaoBao... I checked a few places, but didn't see her. In any case, I probably trust eBay pictures more than TB pictures and this seller had pics of her from several angles.

Another thing, why do people think the year marked on the foot means the age of the pony? I thought that those dates reflect when the molds were made, which is why Twirly Treats has her foot marked 2011 despite the fact that shes a 2013 pony.

I'm talking about the black numbers on the bottom of the hoof, not the part that's actually part of the mold itself :) The black numbers represent when that specific pony itself was made.

My English isn't perfect. XP (I also never really saw her as a "shout-out" to older collectors. Just a pony with the same name as a G1 pony. I never even saw her as being based on G1 minty. But that's just me.)

If you are into prototypes/unreleased variants, I would recommend seeking out the older version while you still can. I think she will go the way of Drama Pony and be the unreleased variant. I have a hunch that version 2 of Minty will be the released version.

If you are into prototypes/unreleased variants, I would recommend seeking out the older version while you still can. I think she will go the way of Drama Pony and be the unreleased variant. I have a hunch that version 2 of Minty will be the released version.
I will be able to get a Minty, but I wasn't sure which one I should get. I'm beginning to think that as well. Besides, I like her more than the other one anyway, and we haven't seen the other one until just now and a bunch are popping up, so I think it'd be better for me to get the original. I really hope that this one I'm stalking doesn't sell out before I can get the money to buy her!

Well there are still BINs for the black-outlined minty up (or should I say new auctions with BINs) -
And at least one auction for the non-black symbol Minty- and I would be willing to bet large amounts of money that as soon as the current auction is over- another will be there to take its place (much like the glittery Wysteria and Pinkies that just keep popping up again and again).

Yeah, not much to be excited about lately. The past two years I was giddy waiting for summer releases, but this year it's been just, "Meh." Oh well, at least I won't be dropping hundreds and hundreds of dollars on ponies this summer. Another reason why the Minty expenditure is not too bad ^^;

I've looked through my collection and ponies that came in sets often don't have numbers on their hooves. So to me that says if she's released she's going to be in a set of some sort. I'm super excited and hopeful that they're going to release her. :biggrin:

I liked the first one we saw much better, it looked so much more finished. The two-toned hair went much better with the peppermint theme. The new one's color reminds me of a bar of soap and the black outline seems like a very strange thing to add, and is especially jarring since there's no other black in the symbol.
Personally, I think the second one looks like a slapdash job compared to how nicely the features of the first one seemed to blend (even the eye color). I would have guessed it was a factory error/reject prototype if it wasn't for the numbers it was released in.

I agree, so many g3 have been released as g4, and still only Applejack and Spike have been released from g1, do they dont seem have any problems with selling merchandise of Sundance and Sparkler and some other g1s.

I remember reading that Hasbro has some name licensing issues for most of the characters and (from what I've seen) Hasbro's pretty bent on not selling a toy unless they have a trademarkable name for it.
Course, all that means is that we won't ever get a Firefly that says Firefly on the box. It might say "Flyfire" or something else on it, but hey, the fans know;)
As to why beyond that, no idea. Maybe Hasbro thinks G3 is still fresh in people's minds so they go for that (or they still own the names and are all "we could rename Surprise and get it trademarked OR sell Minty. The latter takes less effort let's do that") Still, it's kind of weird that they don't go for the adult nostalgia market and make a playful pony set with G1s in G4 molds. Kids can still have fun with a brushable Gusty. They might not geek out over her like their parents might, but they can still have fun with her.
Shirts and non-toy items don't really count because they probably still own the designs and you don't need to have the pony's name on the shirt:p

I really am excited that minty is popping up again, though. Hopefully I'll be able to get one this time. I don't really mind the outline on her symbol that much.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed the seller might post more, but I'm doubtful. (and I'm sure the price will be much higher given what the auction one is looking like even if they do.) I saw them right before I went to bed and thought I shouldn't impulse buy when I was sleepy and that maybe I should wait and see if more are listed because of the posting of that type on taobao earlier that day. I know Lemony Gems doesn't have one from the Fan Favorites set (at least, mine doesn't).
Nightmare Moon, (taken from the same set) does.

I wouldn't totally give up on that possibility yet. I can't put my finger on what the diffference is, but these Minty A's seem somehow slightly different from the older Minty As. Might just be my imagination or differences in picture qualities, but I think they may have come from a newer production run. And in that case there could be more that appear.

Castle playset: Neither Cadence or Shining Armor have numbers
Crystal Empire set: Celestia has numbers, Pinkie doesn't
Ploomette does, Twilight does not
Starbeam Twinkle does not
Sweetie Swirl does
Sweet Slumbers: AJ does, Star Dreams does not
Daisy Dreams from the TRU scooter pack does not

Creating a senerio: Is there any way in which suddenly old stock would surface alongside new stock? We saw a limited number of Lyrica prototypes pop up before they listed the with sash version. So my guess is that they got rid of the prototype version first then started selling the final version. But with Minty both versions seemed to show up at the same time. We know A existed before B, but I would wonder where they were sitting around for so long if the A is older stock.
Oh to have a flys view of what goes on in the production of these ponies.

Yup I caved, I bid $49.99 on the auction one, someone outbid me so I just went and BINed one lol. There's only one left now. I know I'll probably kick myself later but I'm glad to finally have one. Plus I trust this seller since I've bought from them before, the othe one didn't have much.

Yep, there were translucent versions of 5 of the 6 main ponies (no Twilight) spotted last year. I bet she is older than the glitter Pinkies that are being sold now.

I think the idea that at least one pony in the set would come with a stamp makes sense. And perhaps it varies as to which pony hence why some have stamps and some dont?

Mango just messaged me back, she said no Sweetie Blues turned up anywhere from her suppliers- pictures of Sweetie Blue and psychical comparisons to 'Mrs Cake' were included. She did say they will look out for more, hopefully some turn up soon! *crosses fingers*
*She did also say that the Sweetie Blue are an older model and have been sold out..... makes me wonder about the 5 light green Minties recently but hopefully from all the pictures the seller took its the rare 2011 one! *crosses fingers again!

I wouldn't totally give up on that possibility yet. I can't put my finger on what the diffference is, but these Minty A's seem somehow slightly different from the older Minty As. Might just be my imagination or differences in picture qualities, but I think they may have come from a newer production run. And in that case there could be more that appear.
I hope you are right but the code on the ebay one's foot indicated a Jan 2011 manufacture date, but then again the other ver. had no code.

You need to find an agent that can order for you;) There's a few of them out there but it's murder waiting for them to put in an order for you! And first they have to confirm it's still available, then charge you a paypal invoice, then you have to wait and pray they get the order in before they sell out...sometimes it's just better to wait and snag one off ebay because the process can take almost a month since they check the order in, then send you a shipping charge you have to pay and it takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive:/ Unless you're ordering a bigger bulk order, it's not worth it when half the chinese sellers on ebay have free shipping.

I agree. With all the Chinese sellers offering free shipping on eBay I find it's sometimes easier to just check eBay. However sometimes some ponies don't make it to eBay. If you see one on Taobao you really like you can always try for it and cross your fingers your luck is good that day. You got to get an agent. There's lots but I've heard TB trends and Taobao now are the most popular.

As it seems more and more likely that type B is to be the one that may get a release because more have surfaced, I can't help but think 'What the heck was hasbro thinking with the resesign!?' -_-
Everything about the older ver. seems better to me; the pretty pale color, lack of outline on the cutie mark, 2 color hair.. I like type A's eye color and eyelash style better too. Every pic of type B Minty I see, her right eye especially, the top eyelash seems offset :(

I think I like A better. Mostly because I like that color of mint green. I'm extremely picture when it comes to anything of pastel blue/green nature.

I actually think that i do like the colors on B better. It's just that black outline that is so jarring. Maybe if they had used a darker pink instead?
Either way, I want a Minty and I'm not willng to pay $50 for her so here's hoping she will be widely released in one form or another.

wow, the pinks in the hair are way different. Minty B is obviously fading pink, but Minty A is... much much lighter and more towards violet. ...what colour is that? Fairys breath?

the mismatch is definitely something in the plastic, and I hope this means Hasbro is addressing the issue... A few ponies that were perfectly matched when I bought them have already started to discolor from nothing more than sitting on the shelf.

I just got my Minty A. The number on her hoof is 10071, and I checked which head she have, its an AJ head...well that was pretty obvious since there are only AJ and Pinkie heads for earth ponies. Mine also do have the head/body mismatch but its not that easy to spot at first glance.
One thing I noticed though is that the hair felt different...Dryer perhaps? atleast the white parts of it, it also dont look as shiny as the pink streaks.
We will see how she looks after she dried a bit, I had to wash her hair a bit since she arrived with hair in a bigger mess than the normal box hair.

Im afraid its not that easy to nab one on Taobao...The sales of mintys are sporadic and dont always come from the same seller and they run out extremely quickly...just today I saw 20 type bs disappear in less than half a day. And depending on where you live, you might end up having to pay like 60 bucks...thats what I had to pay for my type A because of the agents cut and the shipping.

I don't think the type A will be released, only one listed on ebay. I do believe type B will be. Lots of those listed and lots of them seen.
So how many Type As have now been spotted? 5-6 previously, 1 from Saku, 6 recently sold on ebay, and now one more listed on ebay that may be from one of the 5-6 originals as I beleive the seller is a member from this site. And with Saku's number reports on her pony, it's one from a couple years ago.

The marks on my Minty A came off easily with a gentle wash using water and a tissue. Hopefully yours will come off just as easily!

Yup they do! Go to Clas Ohlson and search for Fläcksuddare, they come in blue and white boxes. There are other places which sell too but I find them most easily at Clas Ohlson stores.

Seeing them both togheter makes me like version B more. Her colors seem a lot brighter and her cutie mark blends in less with her body color. Though they shouldn't have used black as their outline color...

Seeing the two Mintys together like that have have converted me. I think I may like Minty B more now. It's good to see that they are popping up more now. I really hope that this is a good sign that she's going to be released. Or at the very least, I hope more show up on Taobao so her price gets driven down. I just can't pop $50 for her right now. :(

I like A best, but I also like B. I wonder why they decided to do away with the white stripe in her hair.
I also wonder if she is getting a release or if her slowing numbers is a sign of it being a test. She's showing up nightly on taobao but it seems like only in very small numbers. Seems like it is slowing down too.

A couple pages back someone here who's on good terms (maybe even part of the administrative segment) of the MLP Fair said "glitters are coming" which makes it sound like Wysteria may be a fair pony. Unsure if she'll be a SDCC pony too like last year, because while it is cheaper to sell one pony at both events, Wysteria doesn't really feel like she'd make sense as a SDCC exclusive.
Also, got Minty B two days ago. She's super adorable. I think Minty has..."it". I can't quite explain what it is, but she's got that something special only a few ponies have.
In addition to Lyra comparison, I decided to put her next to Snowcatcher too because well, she's the bluest-green pony I know.
Thumbnailed due to size. Minty also has a small yellow spot on her head that will not come off. I think it's a bleach stain. I just pretend Minty is Hindu and tried to do a bindi the best she could without thumbs:p

Even though I bought her for $50 already that would still be completely awesome!!! I was kinda wondering that too since Lyra has yet to be seen and with Lyra and Lyrica in that set that would be 2 ponies with the exact same symbol. Maybe it's a nod to us collectors by putting Minty in Lyra's place.

We did have confirmation on a press release from Hasbro they were going to filter, but visually you are right we didnt see them. Perhaps size was a factor?

I just received some info from my Minty B whom is on a detour to a friend of mine in America. She as well do not have any numbers stamped on her hooves. I thought this might be of atleast a little interest since she was the first one to be sold.

So many minties popping up every day, I think it's safe to say she'll be released sometime this year SOMEHOW, eitehr a set, or a single, I doubt a special limited edition as there are just SO MANY with a few being put on ebay every day.
Hopefully so I can just hold off and buy several when she IS released, if she isn't snatched up by everyone else of course.

While I absolutely love Minty, I don't value the G4's like say an Italian yellow Minty with green or purple hair to compare Minty-s... or Colombian made ponies to speak of some considered rare MLP

I love me some prototypes, but this prototype isn't that exciting since she looks so much like the other Minty. I'm more excited over White Celestia.

It seems to me that if you start with a high price you'll get less interest. Something about a bidding war makes people willing to pay exhorbitant amounts, heh. Because even though there were at least two bidders wiling to pay $400+ for Minty A in SoSilver's auction, the loser didn't jump at the chance to pay the same amount for this person's. And yet, there is no guarantee if you start low that you'll get bid up to anywhere close to where you hope to be. Luck and good timing play a frustratingly large part in it, heh. SoSilver seems to have a knack for perfect timing ^^;

I think there are probably two people who were willing to pay $400+ for Minty A- one of them got SoSilver's.
The other person probably wants the new Minty A- but realizes that the competition is much less fierce- and probably is less keen on shelling out so much cash without a bidding war...
