I was thinking novice customizers could enter whatever they want to in the three contest categories and whichever novice gets the most votes in general gets the prize? It's up to the novices:D
I vote Maple Valley, just to give it a try, the drive really doesn't make a ton of difference :) I love to travel. I'd drive to B.C. if I had to :D I think having it move around would be fun :)
I feel like we should have show n tell, customizing demos (I cannot remember which ones we discussed....), awards and yard sale separate. Oh! And what about an ice-breaker/get to know each other game to start? I have a bunch of those :) Like one where everyone gets an index card and writes something unusual about themselves on it, then someone reads them and we have to guess who it is? Also, name tags are a MUST for the next party. I got about 5 names I remember XD I really really can make buttons too XD

A great free version of a photoshop similar program is GIMP if anyone is looking to do that sort of stuff :) I use it for my sketches when I'm giving customers a preview of their ponies. It's great for adding cutie marks to ponies from the pony creator because it gives you the option of multiple layers and transparencies :)
I think we've just been PMing each other if you want to exchange addresses, though I wouldn't mind helping with the address distribution if we wanted to do it that way. I've gotten addresses from Salli, Galactica, and Painted Hooves. How about if you want to be in the loop, PM me with your address, and then I'll send out the list of addresses next week after thanksgiving to all those who PM'd me. Not an official card swap but maybe that would help with sharing our addresses and knowing who would like to participate in sending/receiving cards.

I keep meaning to customize a big Lala I picked up for that purpose- but now I'm holding off until I can get my airbrushing skills under control... finally got all the parts I need and worked up the courage to get the thing going this last weekend- I definitely need a lot more practice...

But the airbrush will really be to show anyone whose interested- I don't think I am ready for an airbrush pony paint just yet :P

Meeting at a library is a great idea, katgyrl! I think it would be great to try to have the meet outdoors, if possible, though an indoor back-up is a 'must' for sure. I'm wondering if a library would mind if we cancel last-minute to be outside?
Having the party in a Seattle park might work - most of the parks have shelters with seating and tables, and the prices for the shelters range from $90 to about $260 for the entire day. Here's more info:

I think that's a great idea just to have a general custom contest, and we can give prizes bases on different categories like uniqueness or creativity or skill
I wouldn't mind a winter meet, it would probably be the same availability-wise for me either summer or winter, cuz we don't have money to go anywhere. :lol: :cry: I think last year we decided to do it in the summer so we could have it outside, but then it ended up working out that we are having it at an indoor location anyway.

I don't know about that individual Hop Jacks, but I've eaten at one before and its fantastic. The onion rings are some of the best I've had and their lemon drop is to die for. It can be a little pricey though.

We should start an Unsupportive Husband support group. :P Seriously though, whenever he really starts to get on me about how dorky ponies are I like to point out his dorky interests like superhero comics and the HOURS he spent playing street fighter and final fantasy and that usually quiets him down for a bit. ;)

@Salli, yes, I could make ponywear for FS ponies, however I'm super behind on the requests I've gotten, so it may take a while to get to it. I could help you figure out a pattern at the meet if you want, since I know you do some sewing!

I had an idea for a challenge called 'The 12x12 Challenge'. Your challenge would be to create a display that would fit on no bigger than a 12x12 area of a table (BUT you can go higher, maybe a 4' max.)
It can be a single pony that is the prize of your collection, an army ponies, a scene of the apple family reunion or something presented by blind bags, a custom (or more) you made, a pony sticker collection, some factory flawed ponies, some ATCs or other art, art you drew as a child or art your kid drew, etc... No theme, just 12x12 and ponies and a 'G' rating ;) (Also, it needs to be stable, so it doesn't knock over anyone else's ponies). Anything you want. No customizing necessary, but you can if you want. I'd be willing to donate a prize :)

Just out of curiosity, would it make it easier for the Oregonians if our winter meet was a little further South-Westerly than the Seattle area? I know a majority of us live in the Seattle area, but I think it would be awesome to make things more accessible to people slightly out of the area so we can meet more pony people :)
What if we did some kind of pony dress up relay? With the G1s and their ponywear, each person has to put on a piece of ponywear and we do a race. Maybe that's lame, though. I just bought a bunch of ponywear from Momo and was dressing up my ponies and thinking about how some of them are kind of tricky to get on! ;)
