Title: Southeast Pony Meet! (Georgia, US)

I posted an interest topic on the old forum and sadly it didn't get many replies :( So, I decided to wait for the new forum to get settled down before making another here :)

About the meet:
This will be it's second year! Last year's was the first, and AWESOME! It was in the summer, and after a survey it seems hosting it during fall will be much better! It I have a group posted on Facebook for it, if anyone would like to check it out! If you would like to add me I will gladly invite you the group! :) I have posted pictures from last year, so hopefully they will give you a good idea about what it'll be like! It will be in a clubhouse located in the neighborhood I live in :)

I would love to hear from anyone that would be interested in coming! The more the merrier! :lovey:

Fee: $9
Children are half price! :)

Items Checklist

-Food (We do have some who can's eat gluten):
-Drinks(juice, soda, water, etc):
-Plates, forks, spoons, napkins:
-Prizes(ponies, pony merch, etc):
-Decorations(Optional):
-Raffle prizes:
-Activities:

RSVP!-- Ended!!

Walk ins will be accepted, however I cannot guarantee there will be enough food and will not get a name tag. Since it would be unfair, walk ins will also be liable to pay the fee. When you RSVP, title the email "RSVP: your name". Only RSVP if you know sure that you can go ^.^ I will only know the cost of admittance after RSVPs are over as I am dividing the cost of rental by the number of people attending. I will be taking the fee at the door :) Those who RSVP, when I figure out the cost I will be letting you know how much it'll be, mainly for those bringing more than themselves! ^.^ This is simply to help keep me organized. ;)

Beginning time: When I get the date reserved officially
Ending time to RSVP: September 8th

Name:
Username(if you have one):
Number of people coming with you(specify if they are children or adults):
Number of tables needed(only if you are bringing to sell/trade):
What you will be bringing(prizes, food, etc):

Also,I am entertaining the idea of contests! I have three categories: Costume, Customs, and Art. Let me know if you would be interested in any of these :) And, I was wondering if anyone would like to hold any kind of mini panels or anything? ^^ Like on certain steps to customize, just as an example. I would LOVE yo hear from you! :heart: I'm trying to get a nice schedule written down :)

LOL Well, as long as I don't have anything else that interferes (and is more important than ponies; hard to be that important! ) I'll be there! It was a blast last year (Holy Hooves! those GF cupcakes were da Bomb! I'm still talking about them!! XD ) and my RLBFF and her girls had a great time, too!

I can't wait to see everypony again!!! :cheer:

I can't wait to see you all again for this meet either, will be great fun! I think the date is good, gives me plenty of time to recoup from the fair, should still have stuff to sell at the meet as well. Let me know if you need anything in particular!

There should be an icon on the message bar, of an image (mona lisa, if you hover over the icons it will tell you what each is for) also if you have an photobucket account you can login directly from the arena and select which photos to upload. Any image hosting site will work, using the direct link or [ img ]visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I seem to remember you telling me that you didn't follow any one recipe. I used to be a decent baker; I'd love to try my hand at those lovely little delectable morsels!

Vertefae would be coming from the West side of Atlanta and prolly meeting me and my friend Margaret some where in town. (Or coming with my friend Margaret and I'd be meeting them both 'round town!) The Air Force does keep throwing orders at her, though. So, it looks really touch-and-go for her, atm. I do hope, hope, hope, hope that you can make it my sweet, vertefae!!!

And here are the ponies that I came up with a month ago!! XD Jeesh, did I drag my feet enough getting them posted here?!! :drunk:

I'm also playing around with the idea of making 'Lil Peach' a rainbow pony with Year three coloured hair. If anypony would like to see that do lemme know! ;)

Mine is simple, I want PERFUME PUFFS! Lol :) And many, many G2s. Those are what I'm trying to focus on now. I would totally be interested in customs, but my funds are quite low ATM. Hopefully they'll be better around fall! Lol I would love customs of my ponysonas like uuuumph! Haha x'D

And I am so happy there will be many new faces this year, I look forward to meeting you all! Everyone is welcome and sure to have a great time. I am excited to see what some of you have to bring. I may be pretty wiped after the fair but I'll probably have some ponies left and tons of 80's items.

As for cooking, who knows I'll try to be more creative this year! Is there a place we can grill out there? 'Cuz that might be perfect for me :P

Also *shameless brag* I was promoted at work so my responsibilities have increased ten fold, we should come up with the date soon so I can make sure I have it off, I generally need about a month in advance.

I think it should be after Labor Day but before Halloween.

I primarily attend meets for the buying/selling/trading aspect, though my wishlist has gotten more and more specific over time so I don't come home with the hauls that I used to. I do enjoy simply getting to know new and old pony friends as well though, and it's always a fun experience to hang out with people who share the same obsessions that you do :-)

EDIT: MNN, I think you posted right before me. lol. Last year they had a table where only fair merch, blind bags, and the fair pony was sold. It opened at 10 am (I think) and it was first come first served... but the line was loooong.

I was going to make a post about it in the Arena but as far as I know he hasn't put it on his website yet... Basically he buys original reels of old unpublished TV shows and publishes them himself. Lol, I will have to watch it with an eagle eye then. ;) I paid $40 for the frame thing, but I wish I had had more money to buy more! I think he sold all of the ones that he had at Dragon*Con (which is where I bought that and the DVD). I don't remember how much the DVD set was... $20 maybe? It was a pretty standard DVD price. The website says that the store will re-open soon, so I guess they are doing some maintenance.

Also, question -- my friend Amy, who came with me last year, has two children who are interested in ponies (age 11 and 8, I believe, though they might have birthdays before the meet). Can they come with us, too? I don't think they will be a bother to anyone, and they're both so sweet and polite! I know we had a discussion about children last year and Amy had decided not to bring the kids, but I know they would want to come if they can. ;)

Last year I was probably the one person who expressed being most uncomfortable with having kids around, but when I got there and saw that the kids present were well behaved, I felt like I had over-reacted in my prior anxiety. Amy's kids actually wanted to come along last year, too, but I had thought that we were trying to limit having children around, so they didn't come. Of course, if the consensus is that we should have no kids there, I will support that completely.

Amy might just bring her older child, anyway (who will be eleven or twelve at the time of the meet). Her younger child is actually a boy who is interested in ponies. :) He's one of the sweetest kids I've ever met, which, coming from me, is definitely saying something because I'm usually uncomfortable around kids. :D

They are well behaved children who I personally trusted enough to bring along. I am more than happy to visit with children who are behaved but I have a very low tolerance for any child who is Not well-behaved. In short, I say that if the parent can say "Yes, I have good children" then they should be welcomed. If the parent cannot in good conscience make this statement then they should leave the kids at home.

Cherry: I'd love to have a customs contest, but I don't think we have more than a couple customizers in the group right now. :P I be happy to do a custom demonstration if anypony would be interested in seeing a custom come to life in person. What about a coloring contest or a name that pony game? I'll have to pull out my old MLP Fair 'Schedule of Events' and see if we could mimic them on a smaller scale. :)

I told them very nicely that that wasn't nice to do to the dollies, and their mother jumped down my throat saying it wasn't my business to discipline her children. Well, she sure as heck wasn't doing it!

This year, me & MN plan to setup a table to sign in, collect a fee (for renting out the clubhouse)--there might be a reduced price for kids, assign tables, and give out name tags. We want to get all of this out of the way before people start bringing in their items.

We are also going to ask for people to let us know how many tables they need before the meet, so we can set them up before everyone comes on that day.

Just trying to make it more organized!

Wow, that's so not cool. I think we're a small enough group that that sort of behavior won't be tolerated. That's exactly why I'm afraid of kids, though! So many parents don't teach their children to be respectful, and kids like that should not be brought to adult events. :(

I'm so jealous! Really, really really. How often will we get opportunities to go to the fair so close to home? The only reason I'm not there myself is because I made arrangements to pet sit for someone during this time before I knew when the fair was. :(

Well there really isn't much of a difference! Haha Other than the fact that they are much smaller scale :) Not to mention that makes it a lot easier to get to know people individually rather than getting lost in a crowd! :3 And we also bring food! CapnChan made some AMAZING food for us last year and lots of people brought in other snacks and goodies ^^ There are lots and lots of ponies for sale and/or trade, of course! :heart: It's so much fun! :3 I uploaded pictures I took from last years meet to the FB group. Although I think this year it looks like there's going to be a lot more people! :biggrin:

It's too close since the fair for me to whip up another pony costume and after cobbling the shoes for the costume contest..I am done making costumes for now :P

Also I am going nuts looking everywhere for the copy of the recipe I used for the cupcakes last year, no worries I know it by heart I think but I want to be sure, I used about 4-5 different recipes to put it together then went even further to substitute the rest of the ingredients with healthier counterparts. Did you know according to my calculations last year, each cupcake was only about 35 calories! I really wanted to make a blog about it and make it available to everyone but I became sidetracked. Either way, expect them again this year maybe even better!

@Ring wraith, please please please bring the MLP Tales DVD's! I've actually watched only about 13 episodes over the years but after the first episode I really enjoyed them, so much so my grails have been the UK Tales ponies for two years now. How would we do this? At MNN house or can we set up something in the clubhouse so we can watch them? Anyone else but me getting a hotel room? I live 4 hours away and last year it worked out well for me to get a room to relax in, if so we should aim to book it at the same hotel or I'd be at least willing to play the DVD's in my room nearby!

On the matter of children attending, my professional opinion is yes they should be allowed as it's practical for parents and sale boosting. My personal opinion is; yes, yes of course they should be allowed! I have always deeply believed that at all costs little girls around the world should have access to MLP's of any generation. It's these types of event where they are able to experience and share their friendship and love for ponies in a public setting. Something I know for a fact...none of us ever had. I will be bringing many uncommon and even rare G1's along with super rare merch, I realize the "risk" of having children there can be worrisome but if it's any consolidation to other attendees, I am quick to speak up and make parents aware of their child's disruptive or damaging behavior, if need be. The sweet, little girls who attended last year were so grateful to be apart of it and loved the balloons I gave them, I am sure any other child belonging to a wonderful pony fan would be just as well behaved.

P.S. so the meet date is officially Oct the 6th? Works fine for me, just wondering, and same club house?

Also as for watching MLP Tales, I would gladly offer that everyone could come to my house and watch it that would like to! I literally live across the street. Haha And we have a nice basement with couches and such ^.^

I think someone last year was also allergic to red food dye.

After today I felt she was necessary. I call her Humidity.

Today I got the plushie making bug. I decided Humidity would be my first ~~victim~~ attempt! If I'm successful we could raffle her or something? I don't know what else I would do except keep her. Her eyes and cutie mark with be painted on with acrylics.

Hello darling, and welcome to the forums! :) This meet is not invite only and open to everyone! It's mainly to get together and meet other pony people! Lots of people bring ponies to trade/buy/sell and there will be lots of fun activities and food :) There will be a fee that everyone has to pay at the door, and that is still being determined. It's to help pay for the rental of the facility ^.^ Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will be happy to answer them :heart:

To save on lanyard cost, I've made up some pin buttons that say "Southeast Pony Meet 2012" and name underneath a G1 pony image, for only about 2 bucks each. If anyone else wants one, let me know!

As for panels, yes please to a customizing one! I've been out of it for awhile and would like some new insight. To throw the idea out, what about a restoration panel? It's my forte and my only real attributable pony related talent :p This may not leave a lot of time to tend my booth so (as a sidenote) if you need or want anything please just approach me.

I am also willing to donate some G3's as prize items. I'll try to think of more stuff to add for the event, I have plenty of ideas but not sure how realistic they would prove timewise ;P Do we know the time it starts?

I'll be bringing a huge Pinkie Pie plush to sell, maybe some modified WalMart pony plush where I fix their scrunch-faces and scrappy manes. If I finish these fakie customs before then, they'll be there too, and I want to make some sort of small, low-priced item like fridge magnets or buttons or something.

As for food, I really want to make these cookies I heard about called "unicorn poops", but if everyone is bringing desserts, I'll bring pigs in a blanket or something else more savory. Love sweets, but I can't operate that many hours on just sugar, or else I'll be a very zombified Iris!

As far as bringing stuff I've got bits and pieces from most Generations (lots of baity) and a mix of vintage 80's and 90's toys. I live about 4 hours away so bringing food is out of the question, but I can bring drinks, they're not likely to go bad on the trip lol. Who likes what?

Also I'm willing and able to pick up a bunch of FIM trading cards and blind bags from my area. We can give them out as door prizes or what not. If anybody is looking for a specific one I've cracked the codes on the bags so let me know! :P

I'd be interested in bringing some things for trade, and some customs. I'll probably get there via MARTA (unless I can hitch a ride), so I don't know how much I'll be able to bring, unfortunately.

Also a nametage would be cool if they're still being handed out. : D Prince Ichi/Sam is fine.

I have never been to a pony meet before, and I'm not sure if I should price my stuff or just reserve it for trade. I would prefer to trade because I don't think my ponies are worth a whole lot.

I don't have a lot to trade so I will personally be buying if there's something I want. Maybe get prices and have the option open to trade?

Good advice, and I was totally going to forget to bring change for buyers :x

All my items are priced for the record but literally everything is open to trade, just ask :)

Btw all my pricing is based off eBay completed listings negating the shipping cost, so if anything seems off just let me know. I am leaving to teach in Mexico RIGHT after the meet, as you can imagine I need to push as much as I can.

that helps for the codes, the codes is stamped on the back flap. five digits, and you ignore the 1st, 3rd, and fifth number. so, mine has 31208, and my pony is #10. Hopefully, you can find some third wave still out there for Eternia! as for me, any wave AJ will do!

Wave 3 is 19, wave 4 is 2!

At Toys R' Us, the box was overstuffed, but it was 80% the same thing, with only four varieties in total? I managed to find one wave one Applejack, and I went ahead and snagged the only kind of BB pony they had at Wal*Mart, which turns out to be Amethyst Star. Poor Amethyst! Apparently she is just the reject nobody wants. Either that, or the blind bag distribution is absurdly ridiculous and they're packing these things with only one variety per box. o_O

'S weird, man! What's worse is, I dunno when we'd get new stock in the stores, since the boxes are literally full of ponies. They're just all... the same ponies...

And I hope you guys all like cheese fondue! Finished the set up tonight and think it's going to work out well! I made sure to get gluten-free products as well for dipping. It's made with a Mexican beer base for the record but it won't get anyone intoxicated :P

Getting really excited! I am about to start all the precooking, for treats and such. I forget how the kitchen set up was last year but I think the clubhouse has everything for me to prepare with there, to make most of it as fresh as possible. Asides from the fondue I am brinigng my favorite deviled eggs, rice krispy treats, guacamole and salsa with corn tortilla chips for the movie time, and recreating my cupcakes from last year but they will NOT be gluten-free, as plenty of people are bringing GF treats. I managed to get all wave 3 boys for MNN with an extra boy for sale aaaand I found a metallic Applejack for Alicat! I snagged whatever they had left, all wave 3 no duplicates. I am only asking a dollar on top for $3 dollars each. None of them have been opened. I also picked a Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie plushie, if anyone is interested.

I forgot to post the buttons, here they are! I used the G1 designs off my DS skin hehe, they seem well liked.

Is anypony at all interested in seeing reborn babydoll? She's not for sale so I'm on the fence on whether or not to bring her. I know a lot of people think reborns are creepy, so I won't bring her if anyone is freaked out by dolls that look like real babies! XD But, I love them personally and would love to show her off if anyone would like to see her. Ahhhh ha ha ha!! I do try to be considerate with art that is 'alternative!' I really, really dislike gory art and always appreciate a warning. XD I'll just leave her at home; it'll save me that much room! LOL

I'll be bringing two BJDs, one tiny Bobobie girl (points to her avvie) that I'll prolly carry around with me in a pocket or something. :silly: But, my big AoD girl will be at my table in her box as she's only just arrived at my home, is a bit of a tlc project and is still half nakie without even any hair! :yikes:

The only thing I can't seem to find is GF bread, everything else is GF though but bread is typically eaten with cheese fondue so unless I can find some I'll only have regular bread, didn't want anyone to miss out but there are tons else to dip with and fill up on :)

I'll be up attempting to clean all night, but most likely pass out soon. Can't wait to see you all! And snuggle that huge Pinkie Pie ;)

I loved tasting everyones delicious snacks! Iris patches "unicorns poops" were so creative and yummy, not to mention her massive Pinkie Pie I never wanted to let go of! I just had the best time and can't wait for next year! Even if I am overseas, I am flying back :P Sorry for those that couldn't make it and for your job issues :( We made some buttons with your names on them though and just let me know if you guys ever want them. I hope you guys can make it next year :D
