Pony Corral / Re: Build a Bear Fluttershy image!! :D

Aww, she's so adorable!  ^.^ I've been tempted by the BAB ponies in the past, but I think I'm going to have to finally cave with Fluttershy once she's out. I like the rooted hair on these gals, they remind me so much of the G1 softies.

Thank you for posting this melipuffles! I've been really looking forward to seeing what they had planned for Fluttershy, and she's perfect!

lol, I love the, "Did you know? 1 in 5 Guests buy more than one pony at a time?"

I'm completely smitten with them! I told myself that I wasn't going to start up another collection any time soon, but I just couldn't resist. I have the medium-sized Buttershy and Elfa and they automatically make me smile whenever I see them. I may have to grab a few more in the future. Like many people, I'm dying to find Miss Clover.

I've only come across them at my local TRU so far, and the medium-sized ones get absolutely wiped out from week to week, they've been very popular. I'm hoping that these start to pop up in more stores soon. :)

They do remind me of Brian Froud's goblins. Because of the shape of their heads, I instantly thought of "The Dark Crystal" and it's Gelfling characters (which of course, was also conceptualized by Froud) when stumbling across them for the first time.

I went with Rapunzel, though Ariel's a close second. For the heroines outside the typical Disney Princess category, I also love Megara and Esmeralda. :)

Cute set! :) I haven't been this tempted by a new MLP release in some time now, I may have to pick this one up. I don't own any of these characters, so I'm glad that I've been seriously dragging my feet when it comes to G4's.

Pony Corral / Re: Are you an active or retired collector?
« on: August 14, 2013, 10:39:41 AM »
I'm not an active MLP collector anymore, but I have more ponies than I could ever want, and then some. I've actually been slowly going through and getting rid of a lot of them, and only keeping the ones that really mean something to me. I sold off all of my G2's, and all but one of my G3's (March Daffodil was always my favorite). I'm good on G1's, which is what most of my collection is comprised of, but every now and then I'll grab a G4.

I love the FIM cartoon and I was really excited about G4 when it first premiered, but admittedly, the toy line has gotten a bit stale for me. I have a few of the blind bag-sized figures, and while I think they're cute, they're not something I wish to collect, and this seems to be where Hasbro's focus for the franchise is at the moment. I much prefer their brushable ponies, but they're not putting out anything that's new and different enough in this regard to hold my interest for long. Wysteria and Sunset Shimmer appeal to me though, so I may have to pick them up eventually.

All in all, I haven't purchased anything but a Funko vinyl when it comes to ponies this year. I still love MLP, it was the toy that defined my childhood and it will always hold a special  place in my heart, but aside from the random addition here and there, I think I'm pretty content with my collection at the moment. I've also been more into Monster High dolls for the past three years, and for my wallet's sake, I'd like to only focus on one collection right now.

Pony Corral / Re: New Equestria Girls Dolls Pictures

I really wanted to like these dolls, as I think their animated models had some potential as a one-off, but I'm just not feeling these at all. I'd consider picking one of them up if they end up on clearance, but I don't feel their price point puts them in great competition with the other popular doll lines currently on the market (and on the horizon). These just look like cheap Monster High Taobao fakies to me.

I'm glad this is a spin-off and not a complete overhaul of the MLP franchise itself, but it's money saved for me at any rate, so that's a plus. :) I wish they had put their effort into bringing Jem back, I would have been all for that. Maybe once Integrity has run the gauntlet on their limited edition dolls, Hasbro will throw their hat into the ring with a playline revival and give us something more affordable.

I have a strange urge to customize some MH dolls into better versions of these...

« on: June 05, 2013, 10:39:00 AM »
I recently started watching Mad Men and The Borgia and I've been flying through both of them. Apart from that, I'm a huge (obvious) fan of Game of Thrones and can't push it on people enough. I'd also recommend Rome, Deadwood, and The Wire for slightly older, yet great HBO dramas.

For lighter TV, I also like How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Community, Archer, and Parks and Recreation.

I was really looking forward to, and dreading this past episode. The second the Rains of Castamere started playing, it felt like that "Here we go!", breathless feeling you get right before going over that first major plunge on a roller coaster. That's a chapter I still have a difficult time re-reading, so I was trying so hard to keep it together while seeing it all unfold onscreen.

I was pretty excited going into it because I got to watch it with friends who are really into the show and have never picked up the ASOIAF books, so they had no idea it was coming. I looked over at them when the credits started rolling and they were just sitting their with their mouths open, speechless. They didn't know what to say, though I think it finally convinced them that this is a series worth reading.

I'm always amused at the shared, sick satisfaction so many people already in-the-know seem to get for putting their friends and family through this series. My boyfriend and best friend both just finished A Storm of Swords just before getting into Season 3 and both flipped out on me when they got to that point for suggesting this series, lol, though I know they still love it.  As sad as it had made me, I couldn't help but bust out laughing at seeing their reactions. I knew it all too well.

I remember reading that chapter and just feeling sucker punched. I also remember throwing my book across the room in frustration and not picking it up again to read for about a week (which I was very glad I did once I continued on). Despite Robb and Catelyn not exactly being my favorite of characters (I find myself liking them much more in the show, but the actors and plot focus probably has a lot to do with it), I was still so heartbroken at how everything went down for them, and the show did a really good job at capturing the absolute devastation of that event.

Season 4 is going to be amazing! I can't believe we have to wait another year, It feels like 3 just started.

I'm really hoping for (future spoiler)

Spoiler
Lady Stoneheart to make an appearance in episode 30, considering the name of the episode. I'm really curious how that storyline will play out in the series.

I actually think HHB Looks somewhat better with her hair down, like a version of her....200 years ago. lol But for some reason, it looks like she has Nefera's head mold. >,<; Or maybe a Nefera + Spectra mix.

I genuinely thought that she may share a head mold with one of these girls when images of her first started popping up online, but I compared her to everyone else in the line so far and her mold is unique to her. I'd say that description is pretty spot-on though, she does look like a cross between the two. :)

I found an image on Taobao (from the same source as the Die-ner Exclusive pic) of the new MH plushies.

I believe that Frankie was the only one shown at this year's Toyfair. Not really my cup of tea, but they're kind of cute. I wonder if any more characters are planned?

Mandy, do you have any idea if we'll be seeing (anywhere, but hopefully in the U.S.) those plushies of the Monster High pets we saw before? Like, large Count Fabulous, Neptuna, and such. :)

I like these (they look shiny!) but I don't know about flat strips for hair. I know I really dislike it on the those Funrise pony plushes, at least. The yarn hair of the button-eyed line is awesome!

As far as I've heard, the pet plushies are only going to be made available to the European market unfortunately. They supposedly hit the market some time around Halloween last year, though I haven't been able to find much information regarding them, other than what was revealed by Gispy Toys at the Nuremberg Toyfair. Their company used to have a homepage, but it seems to be down.

I've seen the larger versions available through some ebay sellers, though I have yet to see the smaller versions that come in little coffin-shaped purses, or the clip keychains seen here, so I don't think they've hit the market just yet:

The ebay seller tigerootoys has the first wave (Watzit, Count Fabulous, and Crescent) of the 7-8" plush toys for sale at the moment, but they're a bit pricey. Neptuna, Shiver, and Sir Hoots-A-Lot are supposedly coming out later this year for the holiday season.

I really hope that listing on EE is the real deal, and not a fluke like some that have access to the Mattel retailer list are saying it may be. I need a new Holt!

I found out a few months ago that my mine had snapped, due to the stress the strung elastic caused on the lower torso. I have no idea when this even happened, considering he spends most of his time on his stand on display. He was one of my earlier MH dolls, and my heart sunk when I saw it.

I've tried epoxy specially made for plastics, high-strength glue, and nothing I've tried has worked. The material is just too thin, I've only made the problem worse at this point by causing the plastic crack further by messing with it. I wish I had just left it alone.

He can still stand and is held together for now, but I hate having a broken doll. I've been debating getting one of those Taobao rejects on ebay just to re-body him, but a re-release would be a much better bang for my buck. ::crosses fingers:: I know it's likely that they could be releasing him again regardless, but July would be great. :)

Awww, it's cute! :) I love jumping spiders, I used to see them all the time in the garden at my old place. Most of the ones I ran into were black with white stripes all over. There's so many varieties and subspecies with these guys, I still run into some every now and then that I've never seen the patterning of before.

B&W Frankie was the only doll to come with a booklet packaged on the inside, while Scarah & Hoodude had diaries in the outer protective box (some people were actually missing these, or had two of the same character, rather than one of each) and Deadfast Ghoulia had a comic that you had to pick up at the booth separately. I'd say to double-check with your source on making sure you get it (if there is one this year and it isn't within the internal packaging), just to be safe. I'm banking on it being a comic, but it could go either way. :)

I'm so anxious for official preorders to go up. :D I just sold a bunch of stuff to make sure I have the funds set and ready to go.
