Ikea cabinets for ponies

Do you have a thrift or second hand shop in your area?  We have seen many a wonderful cabinet at our local ones, that are much easier on your budget.

I've been scouting tbem and sometimes I can find a good deal. My model horse china cabinet I got was around $150 but lately the ones I seem to like are out of my price range. Like this lovely $500 dollar one I found recently. I don't know I've been looking a year and thought I might break down and try the IKEA ones. I would prefer to get one locally. We actually don't have a ton of flea markets or thrift shops here with very high turn over. The same stuff sits there for ages. There is a consignment furniture store I check where after so many days the price drops. I've had problems with people snagging before me and they don't do holds over the phone so either I'm there to get t or not. I thought it might be nice to have matching cabinets anyway since I'm redoing the guest room. I do think I'll try my luck at the shops again before ordering thee though.

Well hopefully you shall get lucky and find one there, sounds like it would be better for you budget wise.  I have no issues with mis-matched cabinets, most of mine are that since they are antiques.

I've been hoping they either still have Billy cases when I have a pony room - mainly, I like that they have that nice corner unit for a clean and continuous look, no wasted space!

If so, it's not a corner unit. It's only the 39cm bookcase (15 ¼ ") on a different direction and assembled with special fittings in that way.
We searched it at the store

I have DETOLF cases and they were beasts to assemble but they're great. Perfect size to add tiered shelving as well.

There used to be real corner units before, so if you're lucky you might be able to get it second hand.
I have this one that I bought second hand. And there are small ones as well.
