Why have I not read this book before? The Last Unicorn
« on: August 14, 2013, 12:20:28 PM »
I picked up The Last Unicorn this summer at the thrift store to read when I had the time. I got sick, so I ditched my current read, Frankenstein, to read the more interesting looking book. As I was reading it, I kept asking myself "Why has no one ever told me to read this book?!"

It was alot like the movie. It was beautiful, sad, lovely, and it was very well written.

:enthralled: :good: :cloud: :hope:

I will be shipping it off to my sisters so they can get a chance to read it. :read: So, if you haven't read it you need to.   Now no one else here can say, "Why has no one ever told me to read this book?!"

I met the author this year, he was really nice.  I also took ages to read the book.  I just assumed it would be a kids book.

It's one of my favorite books ever. So beautiful and lyrical.

wow I am suprised you never read that book before. Have you tried the little white horse, it's the book the seacret of moonacer was based on. You could try the black stallion or the Snow Cloud, Stallion. Just sugestions for you.

My ex boyfriend told me there was a sequel to this book but I haven't read it yet!  I'd love to get a hardcover edition of The Last Unicorn someday, I only have the paperback.

I do love the story-

I read the sequel and it's quite nice.  You can pick it up on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/The-Line-Between-Peter-Beagle/dp/1892391368/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376512419&sr=8-2&keywords=the+last+unicorn+sequel

Not as amazing as the original- but well worth a read.  I actually like all of Peter Beagle's stories- he's really good at getting across that melancholy/lonely feeling.

I believe he was involved in the screenplay for the cartoon- which is probably why it was so good.

I've read it but for some reason don't seem to recall anything about it. :| Perhaps I should give the Unicorn a second chance?

I've read "The Little White Horse," too, but didn't enjoy it. All I can remember is being seriously annoyed at how the protagonist is repeatedly scolded for being too curious, not submissive enough etc etc.
