Why have I not read this book before? The Last Unicorn

I've read the book once, but it took years before I did. I enjoyed it, but for me in this rare case, it'll always be the movie that has the magic for me (I think a lot of it is the music). Plus I have probably seen the movie 100 times throughout my childhood, definitely a favourite.

I really should read the last unicorn, I've all ways admired the film for it's wonderful animation but I could never track down a copy of the book itself when I was young.
I didn't know there was a sequel to the book though, how interesting, and all the more reason to start reading it!

I've loved the movie for such a long time. I'm afraid that reading the book will ruin the movie for me. However it was interesting to find out that there's a sequel to this novel... It's fun being friends with Beagle on facebook!

I thought that too- but it is not the case.  They are so similar because Beagle wrote the book and the screenplay- so it's not like the usual scenario where someone takes a book and hacks it up to pull out what they want.

The book is a little more melancholy maybe-

I've been watching the movie for years and found out a couple years ago from someone here that it was a book first so I had to read it.  I ended up ordering it from waldenbooks before they closed at our local mall.  It was only paperback but still an awesome read.  I have the soundtrack to the movie as well and a custom made by MBryan.

The book is much more elaborate than the movie.  More happens plot wise and there's more internal stuff.

I have two paperback copies , as that my original one is wearing out because I have read it so many times.  I still have yet to get the soundtrack for the movie, the songs get stuck in my head all the time.

One of my local libraries recently got the book, so I'm going to request it as soon as I finish my other reads. I adored the movie, but the book is probably even better. <333
