How is your eyesight?
« on: January 26, 2013, 01:39:26 PM »
My vision is like 20/80.  Someone with normal eyesight can read the chart 80 feet away whereas I have to get within 20 feet to see it myself. Or that's how it's supposed to go. I think I need to be within 2 inches to see it, personally. :P

I dabbled with contact lenses about 9 years ago, but for some reason I couldn't use the computer comfortably with them in. Gave me a bit of eye strain. Still, I kind of miss having them because I think hubby says my face is so pretty without them.

I'm sure my children are going to inherit my family's bad eyeballs one of these days. :nerdy:

And you? How many bespectacled Arena members are there?  :)

My vision was bad before, but after an eye injury about 2 years ago which left me blind for a month, it is awful!!

I wear contacts, but I still have problems with light and sensitivity!

I wear glasses! I'm not sure what my actual eyesight... rating? level? whatever is, though.

Strangely, I can actually see better to read or use the computer without my glasses on.

I got glasses when I was in middle school or something like that. I was so happy when I got my contacts though!

I'm probably a bit weird, but I can't stand wearing glasses because of the frames. I hate having my vision limited, so it's contacts all the way!

I looked into getting laser eye surgery a few years ago, but the doctors said it wouldn't be safe with their current level of technology. Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll be able to get it. It would be nice to wake up and see.

It's pretty bad. xD

I know that, without my contacts, I can't see anything unless it's pressed right up in my face. x.x  I'm severely nearsighted.

I got glasses when I was in first grade, but switched to contacts when I was in middle school.

I failed to mention that I prefer reading without my glasses, but I'm pretty much unable to see without them. They're so old and scratched that I hate going out in the dark. All the traffic lights and headlights have this terrible "halo" around them and it makes it hard to see. Maybe one of these days, we'll be able to get me a new pair.

My vision was bad before, but after an eye injury about 2 years ago which left me blind for a month, it is awful!!

I remember that! It was scary just hearing about it so it must have been terrifying to experience it.

I'm also really, really myopic.  I will probably need bifocals one of these days, but for now I'm mostly a glasses gal.  I used to switch back and forth with my contacts, but a chalazion has prompted me to take a break from the lenses for a while.  Fooey. :nerdy:  I've never liked my glasses (and utterly freaked out in fourth grade when told I needed them) and can't wait to get the green light from my optometrist for the lenses again.

Blind for a month?  That's like one of my worst fears, how did you cope?  You're one brave pony person, kittybethy.

I don't wear glasses but my eyesight hasn't always been perfect either.  I had an illness 5 years ago that paralysed all my muscles, including the ones that move my eyes.  I had double vision for months when it was coming right.  Thankfully there's no lasting damage!

I wear contacts during the day/at work. I wear my glasses at night and in the morning :) I take off my glasses when reading/doing computer work because my eyes get sore and dry xD I've had contacts for about three years. My favorite part about contacts is being able to wear sunglasses :P

I'm blind as a bat xD!

Had glasses since I was in like.. 3rd grade, but only for distance. However, they broke the first day I got them so I was terrified of wearing them again and never did so my eyesight got increasingly worse. I now can't see far from my face without glasses, sigh. I also think I have astigmatism, at least I believe that's what I was told last time I was at the doctor. Bleh, I worry for my inevitable offspring. Bad eyes run in my family...

I would have a perfect eyesight... but I have a bad bad astigmatism. My glasses have a ~ 3.5 cylinder on both lenses. I hate this not only because I can't see anything clearly near NOR far, but my glasses also cost a fortune because the lenses need to be custom made every time. I paid like 500 euros on these glasses I'm wearing now.   >_<

I have terrible eyesight! I'm very nearsighted and I have astigmatism in both eyes. I wear both glasses and contacts. Glasses at home and contacts when I go out because I look horrible with glasses on :P Contacts are a hassle to put in and they sometimes burn my eyes and get dry, but it's nice not having smudges and foggy glasses ;)

I've been wearing glasses since I was 8. I think it runs in the family because both my mum and my brother wear glasses too. I can hardly see without my glasses unless it's really close in front of me, it's really bad.  :)
