So I stumbled across a thread where like 99% of people thought Kingsly was a boy the entire time until they were told "he" was a "she". I thought "Don't think I have any mixed up gender ponies..." Turns out I do, and a few at that. xDD

The newborn twins, Doodles and Noodles and Big Top and Toppy, turns out they're girl twins. My whole life is a lie!! I always thought there was a girl twin and a boy twin, Toppy and Noodles being the girls and Big Top and Doodles being the boys.
And then there's that fairy pony, Glow. Totally always thought she was a boy! She just looks so manly!

I mean come on, they totally look like manly mens. They can't be girls! :yikes: Screw it they remain boys in my collection. xD

Have you ever misinterpreted a pony's gender, and if so, who?

When I was a kid playing with my ponies, I always made the manly looking ones boys. I.never had any boy ponies and always felt weird about no boys. Lol. So I made families.

I have always referred Gusty as a he, even now, maybe as a child his/her voice on the tv shows were not as feminine and that influenced me, but I do auto refer some of my ponies as male lol

Also Shady has always been a he to me, I think I always thought that pose was more boyish

My Sunbeam was a boy when I was little and I still think of Sunbeam as a male now. :)

In all honesty when I was younger my herd of ponies was pretty gender neutral :P And I suppose if I thought about it they were all girls but I don't remember it ever concerning me too much...lol...the innocence of youth I guess!

As I have collected now as an adult and aware of back card stories I don't think there is anyone that maybe I still cant get straight in my head - except perhaps Cutesaurus :P

The only area where I can't really tell the difference is with the G2s. All my childhood ponies were female - both in perception and in reality, because for some reason, I never had a Big Brother in my youth.

I have to agree that I have always thought Doodles was a boy...blue for cripes sakes with another pink baby.  Makes you think of blue for boy, pink for girl of course.  As a child I have thought of some of the girls as boys since I never had any actual boys (didn't actually know they existed).  Mimic and Moonstone were always boys as possibly was Windy and Starshine.  Baby Glory was also because his "twin" was Baby Moondancer and she was the "pink" version.  Oh and I also thought Kingsly was a boy too.

Doodles is a boy, according to his backcard story.

Early one morning, a double Rainbow glistened in the sky to announce the arrival of the newborn twin ponies, Doodles and Noodles!
In the nursery, pretty Doodles and her twin brother Noodles sang the alphabet song as they stacked their letter blocks."A,B,C,D!" sang Doodles. "E,F,G!" chanted Noodles. Giggling, Noodles nudged the swaying tower, and the colorful blocks tumbled to the floor.
Newborn twins like to laugh and play in their very special way...and they're twice the fun for everyone.

Sportstime and Baby Schoolbag seem to throw a lot of people off.  They are both canonically boys.  On their backcards, in the comics, everywhere.

You mean Noodles according to the back card story you wrote?  That's the blue one right?

I thought Celestia was a boy who was into fashion until I saw the cartoon - WHAT A BUMMER!!!

jk :)

Yep, seems like Noodles is a boy and is the blue one. I remember Sniffles and Snookums being a girl and boy respectively on the UK backcard or something. Hey, memory ages, so I could have been quite off - don't blame me on that!

I used to think Wiggles is a boy because well he's got a worm. I used to imagine Lil Cupcake and Sweetcake to be little brother and big sister.

of the twin Set Doodles is a girl Noodles is a boy. And Noodles is the Blue pony in the set. In the UK Sniffles is a Boy - though I believe she is female in the US.

Kingsley is the most confusing to me - She is female yet has a Male Lions mane....

My Wigwam was a girl until I got into collecting. You'd think the hat would have been a clue, but no, I missed that one.

Baby Schoolbag was always a girl to me, now I know she's meant to be a boy. I was surprised by the G2s, and I still get confused by the 'parents' in the Loving Family sets (Berrytown, Meadowsweet, etc).

Well, I saw Brights Brightly the first time in Kimono's townhouse (The comic) and there she's male. Took me a while to realize she isn't :P
