In the spanish latino version of the G1 cartoon Whizzer was a boy so I thought all this years he was one until I joined this forums, LOL.

When I was young I also believed Tuneful was a boy, I even had "him" as a couple wit the BNG Billiant Blossoms

Then again as I joined this forums I found out "him" was a girl, I was compleatly shocked.  -_-

Speedy was a boy, to me all twins were boy and girl:) Cuddles was a boy that always got laughed at for his pink hair, and it was always my boy Steamer that told him pink hair was cool hahahaha. I miss those days of playing with my ponies:)....hehehe sometimes I still do

I always thought Firefly (thought she was a boy) and Medley were a couple from the Midnight castle movie.. seemed a bit more than just "friends" if you ask me :)

Oh yeah Cuddles (BBE) and Medley were also boys in my herd as a kid too.  Medley was married to Firefly and Cuddles was the brother to the BBE Baby from the Baby Bonnet School of Dance (having a blank out moment on her name).

I always thought Majesty was a King and Princess Tiffany was his Queen. Princess Sparkle was sometimes a girl and sometimes a boy depending on who else was paired up at the time

Majesty is another one I thought was a boy.

I'd say Kingsley is a boy.  As far as I know, the pony friends never made it on the cartoon so their genders were probably quickly decided by whoever was typing up the backcard stories!  I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that "she" on Kingsley's card was just a typo.  Besides, most children know female lions don't have manes (I sure did- loved lions as a kid!) so even many little kids would have identified him as a male.

On the other hand, I seriously doubt it was Hasbro's expectation for kids to keep the genders they assigned based on backcard stories, comics, or cartoons.  It would just be near impossible (and confusing) to have gender neutral characters.  If I want my Blueberry Baskets to be a boy, then he is a boy!  If you don't like it, your Blueberry Baskets can be a girl! :)

I always thought Zig-Zag was a boy. Why I thought a bright pink zebra was a boy I have no idea, but in my mind he still is one.

He had fondness for Creamsicle, and stood up for her, even though he was very short. He had a heart of gold.

I doodled this of them a while ago. They're so cute.

Peppermint Crunch (aka: Sundae) was Firefly's (aka: Lightning) husband when I was a kid.  And Galaxy (aka: Dipper) was a boy.   And a bad guy, because his eyes are scary.

... all the ponies in my herd had different names.  :lookround:

Applejack and Bow Tie were boys in my herd, until I got Chief, then I think they became girls  :lookround:

Are there any boys with regular legs/hooves?  I thought boys were identified by the hairy feet??  So, I guess I assumed all the ponies were girls unless they had the special feet!!  (Am I wrong?)

I could be wrong but I think just the Big Brothers were the hairy hooved boys.

Only male ponies have hairy hooves, but some ponies without hairy hooves are male.

Doodles

Baby Schoolbag

Sportstime

Sniffles in the UK--maybe in the US too, I was just checking the Sniffles/Snookums backcard and it never actually SAYS the twins are girls, so maybe I was assuming all this time?  Lavender and pink baby boy--why not, Steamer is totally pink.

Baby Lucky and the ponies in his mold--not sure what's going on with his feet, but they aren't hairy, ha ha.

Daddy Meadowsweet, Daddy Sunbright, and Daddy Berrytown

There was also one UK book that had a pony named "Prince Bad Temper" or something like that, and he looked just like a flutter pony except he didn't have wings.

for me Dance 'n Prance Swinger was always a boy (and Bon Bon's husband). I could never understand those stuff he came with, especially the earrings  :P
I thought Majesty was a king as well. I still think of her as a boy most of the times, but recently I occasionally find myself thinking of her as a girl (unlike Swinger, who still is a boy, and will remain one, I guess).

I seriously thought Baby Racer was a tomboyish girl for quite a while when I was little. But I really thought that every single pony was a girl, and my herd was all moms,  sisters and aunts.

When I played with my friend, some of her ponies would be boys, but mine would always be girls.

I always thought zig zag and creamsicle were boys.

In my herd as a kid we always used Applejack and Glory as the boys. We did know better, but we didn't have real boys :)

Oh and I'm totally in on the G2s. I had no idea any were boys. I certainly can't tell!
