The Hunger Games
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:36:14 AM »
I was just wondering if anyone eles is as excited to see this movie as I am!!!

I can't wait to see it. The previews look so good. And there saying its going to surpass Twilight!! Woo Hoo!!! I'd love to see that!!

The books are so awesome. Even if the last one wasn't as good as the other two!

Anywhy just wanted to see if there were any fans around.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

I'm worried about watching this- because I'm going to compare it to Battle Royale. Anyone else think the premises are too close?

I'd like to read the books though!

You know... I wasn't interested at all... then my co-worker bought the audio versions of the books and played them during the day while we worked... Now I'm in the middle of actually reading them.  They are amazing... I can't wait for the movies.  Hopefully they do the books justice.

I am SO excited. I have been waiting for this movie for a year+ now! My best friend and I have tickets to see it at midnight on Thursday, and I have a Katniss and Peeta tee shirt and a district ID badge I got for free from CafePress via Facebook. I hated Mockingjay, but I love the first two books!

Also, this is cool, my friend went to high school with Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) and knows him personally. Blows my mind.

I'm wondering how explicit they will be in showing the actual games although I don't think the first book was as bad as the third.

I discovered this series in my local library a while ago, and am a fan of the books, but to me the topic (basically children killing children) is more for adults really so to make a film for younger teenagers about it makes my uncomfy!
Don't know whether I'll watch the film. I know what the characters and places look like in my head from watching the book. I think LOTR is the only film that has got it right in my mind adapting books into films!

They better not ruin it  :hmm:

IF they don't, i'll be very very excited to see it! The series overall gets very dark though, and as one critic pointed out, they're going to have a hard time making these movies anything but incredibly depressing and graphically disturbing.

I also can't help but feel this giant sense of irony that the books are being made into movies when a large part of the book details how people on the capitol have become frivolous and superficial and make everything into this big fake production. While it's obviously not real, we're repeating their actions by making this into a production and somehow that weirds me out.

I want to read the books first.  But I'm cheap and don't want to buy them, lol.  (And our wait list at our library is suuuuuper long).  But I might read them on my iPad with the Kindle app.
