Just need to pick out some fakies and I am totally in! I have a question though, I recently got some fakies at Dollar Tree that look like G3 donkey pose ponies but they are roughly the size of a G3 baby, would they count at as hasbro or no? If you need I can try and get a pic up of them later.
you know what? I have fakies and I think this might give me the kick in the butt to try to give them a better life and customize them.I'm in the exact same situation! I have two who I have "started working on" which means one has her hair removed and the other has her paint removed (the poor girl didn't really have much hair left). so I'm basically nowhere with them. in this state, would one of them qualify as my entry (do they still count as "prepped for baiting, work not yet begun")? I think I have "before" pics of both of them.
My hubby is still awaiting approval of his account from the Arena admins, he's worried he won't get accepted in time.

she's a well-done girl for a fakie, but she definitely is a fakie ^^ she had so few and bad quality hair (that's all she had what's visible, no missing plugs), her plastic is more lightweight than that of a regular G3, and she has no stamps on her feet.purple G3 fakie:That looks like a non-fakie G3 to me

She has had a tail like original MLP's and has had one row of hair, but all that is left of those is the washer inside her and couple of hair tufts on her neck.

oh Tsuki, the CPK fakie is so beautiful! are you sure you want to customize, not only rehair her? I am in love with her symbols <3The poor CPK pony has a bunch of marks that I haven't been able to remove, so I'm hoping to make her pretty again. I most likely start on 20th, I have all I need with me here at my parents' house so I can start as soon as it's allowed.I will most likely have no time to die on the 20th XD during Easter we always have a big family gathering in my grandmother's house either on Ester Monday, or (like this year), Sunday. Mother has a biiiiig family, so it's always a very busy day during which I can't do personal stuff, and after which the only thing I can do is lay down and fall asleep (sometimes with clothes on) :lol:

Prepping is fine, however I believe the sculpting of new eyes is part of the customizing aspect, not the prepping.
Snapdragon, I love the shade of that Hasbro-pose fakie :D Can't wait see what you do with her. I also love the airbrushing on that other fakie, kinda shame it's so scuffed, but I'm sure you'll make something beautiful of her, too.

I don't trust my skills to do much sculpting on mine, I've not had a lot of luck with it in the past and don't think I want to practice it with these babies, but I have some interesting ideas.
I wouldn't make her look "too pony-like" if I were you, I happen to think the individual looks the fakies have on their own is a big part of their charm.
One thing I have to give fakies credit for over hasbro is they are not just all recolours of the same pony.

But I remembered that my very first custom was made with a Tara pose, so I figured it might be a nice check-in with how my skill has progressed, and hope my second attempt doesn't come out as nightmarishly as the first, LOL!

on Thursday I became super sick (I went to work in the morning, got sent home a couple of hours later because I looked awful, and ended up in the emergency during the evening with a high fever :sick: ), so I am not sure if I'll be able to go to the family gathering tomorrow. but even if I stay at home I might not be able to start working. I hate to just lie around and do nothing, but due to the fever basically my whole body hurts, my fingers hurt as I type, so to start rehairing might not be the best idea in this state -_-
she's a DG fakie baby in the EXACT same mold as G1 newborns :)now I had to stop and think this over again, and I just realised that I don't own any Earth newborns, only unicorn and pegasi - maybe that's why this mold skipped my mind as being a Hasbro one. thank you for the explanation! this means then that my name indeed needs to be moved to the Hasbro mold group :)
the one you have looks very very close, but has a rooted tail. I think she looks a little funky because her mold and plastic are not quite as good as the DG one, but I would count it as hasbro mold. your purple one you pictured is hasbro mold for sure...

I so so so hate that it's already dark or starting to get dark by the time I get home (but at least it's starting to get dark later, this is the main reason I'm waiting for summer), I just don't like to do anything artsy-craftsy under artificial lights >_<ugh I hate working 40hrs a week... makes it hard to do any work on ponies

is it even legal to work 60 hours a week? my company sometimes also makes us do such lovely things (they were only unlucky coincidences though. if it was regular I'd have already left the company), or at least did, but they recently failed an audit as it isn't legal.
my non hasbro fakie just got a little detail to wings, a larger horn (the original horn is the base underneath it), and a little nose horn.
He will be the prince for the princesses lol. I can't wait to take a finished picture of him with his trio of lovely ladies :blush:

I have finished sculpting the kimono on the dg fakie baby (hasbro mold), so after a little sanding both fakies will be ready for paint!I almost melted mine when I took paint of as the plastic didn't handle acetone too well. :yikes:
I've been working with sculpting and painting, progress is slow but it's something totally different from what I'm used to. :)

I'm rapidly learning that fakies are WAY different to work with compared to MLP and McD's figures...They have some funky plastic that is seeming to be more sensitive, in my case it worked better than sanding the base as the acetone kind of smoothed/melted it..

I'm afraid I just can't get my hands to work for sculpting anymore :( arthritis wins this round, so I'll have to drop out, but I'm SO looking forward to the big reveals! Good luck everyone :):( I am so sorry sweets, hopefully it will ease up some soon.

I have been highly procrastinating, and gotten no farther than the original base coat...which doesn't even fully cover said pony. >.> but she is a pretty shade of Leaf Green!
Will start doing a bit more work on her tonight xD

Just a general notice, each entry has a small before picture and one larger after picture UNLESS the custom has removable/changable details. I did my best to select the most appealing pic out of collages, but one image keeps things fair for those artists who are not as experienced with collages and professional shots.
