MLP Nirvana / Re: New to Nirvanas! Quick question about Italy Starflower :)
« on: February 07, 2015, 04:10:24 AM »
Thank you all for your help!

Lady Starflower I've sent you a pm.

I personally don't think it's the lighting, I see the body and orange as different shades. Even the pink in her mane. Maybe it is just strangely faded
If there is only one version, then that's a relief :p Though that darker blue is pretty!

EDIT: After some playing around, I do believe someone has shifted the hues of that second photo to get the different colours. I did the same and got what looks a bit more like the Starflower we're familiar with:

MLP Nirvana / New to Nirvanas! Quick question about Italy Starflower :)
« on: February 05, 2015, 11:14:34 PM »
Apologies if this is a noob question :p I have noticed that there seem to be 2 variations of Italy Starflower in my hunt for her:
A light blue version who is similar to regular Starflower, and a darker blue version with slightly different hair colours, such as the orange in the front of her mane.

Pictures belong to shira**MLP4LIFE and My Little Wiki

Firstly, have I got my facts right or is the lighting in every photo I've seen just playing tricks on me? And are those the only 2 Italy starflower variations?
I have been after her darker blue colour for ages, but every version I come across seems to have frizzy, dry hair like in the photo. Is this normal for that version? Does the hair look sleek and shiny out of the box?

If anybody has any information, pictures, or a dark blue Italy Starflower they're willing to sell, please let me know :)

Many thanks!

Nope, I feel a little bad for leaving her behind  :sigh:
She was in one of those bags full of other toys. I hope she found a nice home!

I feel your pain, $50 for a pony doesn't even sound shocking to me because I'm so used to seeing it xD I don't want to think about the amount I've spent on ponies over ebay.
The only G1 I've found at an op shop in recent years is a tailess parasol and I was very surprised! There are often g4s and 3s about, but practically nothing earlier.
I DEFINITELY have better luck at flea markets though, and even school fetes, so don't forget to try them!!

- I like G2 and think they look pretty and nostalgic, I don't mind that they're so different from G1.

- I don't like flutter ponies' faces!

- I like the G3 donkey pose. I still don't quite get what's so bad about it.

- I like G4, but only the simple plain brushables. And the show is ok, but I don't relate them to one another. So I couldn't care less about show accuracy.

- I don't like customs made out of G1s. Not cause of the age/value, but cause I just think they look weird as customs! Like, the molds are too classic looking for such fancy paint jobs.

- I also don't like the idea of rehairs, not even to restore a pony to its original look. It kinda bugs me that it's not the real hair :/

- I despise plushies because they usually look really off to me!

- I love when ponies have a different tail colour to their mane

- I love bride pony's pose (it seems like a lot of people don't) Sweetheart sisters too. But I kinda don't think of them as G1.

- I'm fine with the amount of G4 characters that have been released thus far. As they're very similar to each other pose-wise, I sorta don't want too many to buy.

- I don't see the appeal of styling size ponies! Their proportions are worse and the eyes are very often at an unflattering angle/size compared to the brushables.. plus they're too big for my liking.

- For similar reasons, I also don't like the funko vinyls. And their paint jobs, yikes :p

I tried to balance the likes with the dislikes :)

Auhhh I went from sudden excitement to sheer horror in less than 5 seconds xD

Crazy tatts with thick black outlines?
Ah well, new characters are always nice.

So does the first release have softer /longer fuzz?  How are they different?

Sorry, I only have a North Star currently so I can't compare her to anything :p

Quick question, does anyone know if all So soft ponies are flocked the same way/same amount?
Because I vaguely recall hearing someone say that one of the sets was softer and more fully-flocked, or something to that effect..?

Spot on! Thank you everybody, you are all wonderful! <3

I ordered the golden collection on dvd not long ago. Lots of fun watching the characters and style evolve over the years, through the hands of many talented animators  :worshippy:
They're perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon!

Galaxy, thank you so much! I didn't expect to get a reply so quick :)

And Sebby, I thought that too, but it looks to have different eyes than the in my pocket series (which I think have printed eyes) Unless it is an older generation? I'm not too familiar with them.

I think she's quite darling! She appears to have mlp-like eyes, and a letter "B" as a symbol.. looks as if it might be from a Barbie set? If anyone knows where she's from, please let me know  ^.^

While I'm posting, I saved a pic a while ago of another little cat, but silly me forgot to note where it came from..

Any help about the kitties would be appreciated, thank you very much!

I would love an Angry Beavers movie.. I think a great film could come out of that series!
Bonus if it were given a similar aesthetic treatment to what the rugrats films had -- that is, the extra shading and details, special lighting etc.

I accidentally voted on having a funko black comic con version, but I read too fast and thought that was the funko blind bag mini.
Like others have said, they really messed up with her expression on the large funko figures, so I won't be getting any of them. I do like her character though and really hope she gets released as a brushable.
Her smaller Funko blind bag mini also looks much better than the large ones, one of my favourites of that series.
