It's really going to be disappointing if these aren't released. I would really have liked a Nightmare Moon to go with the others

Pony Corral / Re: G1's Cotton Candy and G1's Sweetheart were first release as blank flanks.« on: February 24, 2016, 09:31:15 AM »
There are no photos of either of those ponies being released, made as toys, without symbols on the link you provided. The image of Cotton Candy in the RAMC movie is an example of poor animation. You will notice many, many errors in all of the G1 movies including but not limited to missing symbols, ponies being the wrong color, incorrect voices coming out of ponies etc... Many of the stories talk about symbols changing or how ponies get their symbols but that doesn't mean all ponies are born without symbols. What about the babies that are the offspring of adults and have the same symbols? Did they earn their symbols that looked exactly like their parents? The toys all had symbols because they were designed that way. The stories often told stories of why the ponies looked that way because it gave kids a back story to go with their toy. The term "blank flank" did not exist before G4. Do you have a back card or a comic that you can point out from the 80's with this exact term? 33
Pony Corral / Re: G1's Cotton Candy and G1's Sweetheart were first release as blank flanks.« on: February 24, 2016, 09:03:10 AM »I don't think I'm following you.... to my knowledge there were no prototypes of Cotton Candy or Sweetheart that were released without symbols. Also, the idea of ponies earning their symbols isn't something that was well established prior to Friendship is Magic. It's true that it is hinted that Baby Ember has to earn her mark and was released with no symbol but all subsequent baby ponies, even newborns, were released with symbols. If it's true that a pony has to earn her mark in G1, then why would newborns have symbols, when they cannot even talk yet? I don't really think I'm making a mistake or misunderstanding anything here. I've been collecting G1 since the early 80's and watched all the shows as a kid. I've read most of the back card stories and I literally have no idea where you are getting these ideas. It's fine for you to have this perception of G1, but it doesn't make it what the creators of G1 actually intended. Answer my question then- if G1 ponies had to earn their symbols as in G4, why do newborn babies have symbols? Why is Ember the one and ONLY pony released without a symbol? ETA: The idea is so silly... I kind of wonder, are we being trolled here lol And also, can you please post photos of where Cotton Candy and Sweetheart were released without symbols? 34

Never! I did give my childhood collection to my niece though because she adored them and even though I still liked them I wanted them to be actively enjoyed, if that makes sense.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Ebay help needed urgently! Update: not good« on: February 24, 2016, 06:58:16 AM »Thank you everyone for the advice, it was much appreciated! I'll update what happens:) I would just message her back and nicely explain again that you understand her disappointment but there was an error in the listing as eBay chooses international shipping by default and you do not ship to Italy. You can even explain that it is against her country's laws to import toys other than wood so you can't even guarantee that her item would get to her. It stinks to disappoint a buyer but there isn't much you can do in this case other than eat the shipping cost. Even then, she could still file a claim if her doll gets held up in customs and then you'd be out the doll and shipping costs. Also, if she does buy from the US frequently she should know that it costs more than 7$ to ship to Italy. You aren't forcing her to pay more shipping than you originally promised. She has that option if she wants the doll. Likewise she shouldn't force you to give her the doll for free and pay out of pocket for shipping it. ETA: You could even explain to her that if you sold her the doll with the original shipping it would cost you money to send the doll. You would get nothing for the doll and you would be paying out of pocket for the shipping. I think perhaps she is reacting so badly because she miss-understood that you wouldn't ship to her just because she's in Italy. 36

I'll have to throw a thread up in the brag arena soon. Here are photos of the ponies I have on display with the new addition of Rapunzel. I don't have too many of my ponies out right now as I have limited room to display them. You can see on the bottom shelf she has the ponies celebrating Baby Shady's birthday and going to the hair salon. Pony Corral / Re: Sweet Dreams Crib Variations?« on: February 22, 2016, 06:29:06 PM »Seems likely Hasbro reused the SD Crib for another toyline? They did that with quite a few accessories, like the Sweetie Pups got MLP baby bottles. Actually those are puppies on the stickers, aren't they? Wonder if this was also a Sweetie Pups repurpose. The moulded wheels would have made it a bit less expensive - fewer parts, less assembly. We have a winner! I just googled Hasbro Puppies and found an image: http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/petsurprise-puppy.htm It's all the way at the bottom of the page. Weird! Well now we know where it came from ETA: Here's a link with more info about it: https://sites.google.com/site/timpersock/accessories-sets Looks like the Mobile doesn't belong with the crib. 42

Okay I've updated the first post with photos. So, does anyone know why this crib is different from the standard yellow release?

Pony Corral / Re: Sweet Dreams Crib Variations?« on: February 22, 2016, 03:15:00 PM »
It is definitely a sweet dreams crib. It looks the same in terms of overall design with the main difference is being the color of the mattress and the wheels being completely different design on the headboard and footboard. Also the stickers are different. In the other sweet dreams crib I have the wheels can roll and can even come off the headboard. But in the pink version they are molded to the headboard and footboard. It's so weird!

Pony Corral / Re: Sweet Dreams Crib Variations?« on: February 22, 2016, 02:42:16 PM »I don't know about a pink mattress version, but I do know of variations of the colour of pieces within the set. This is all the images I have for the issue we had here, which I am 99% sure is the same as in continental Europe as well - but I don't know if there are other variations...as you can see, yellow base on box, insert and playset so :-/ Hmmm now I'm even more curious! I will take photos of both versions and post them tonight. What really has me stumped is the different stickers/decals and the molded wheels on the pink version It's like... a completely different design than the yellow release. I have to tell you how much I love your website! It's always on my top list of places to get pony info because of all the detailed descriptions and photos. Thank you so much for this great resource. 45
Pony Corral / Sweet Dreams Crib Variations?« on: February 22, 2016, 01:37:36 PM »
Hi All,
I have two different variants of the Sweet Dreams Crib in my collection. One has a yellow bottom (mattress I guess) with blue wheels and another has a pink mattress/bottom with white wheels that are actually molded into the crib head and foot board. Each version also has different decals on the front and headboard. Does anyone know if these were two different releases, like a first edition and a second edition or maybe a US and a Euro release or mail order vs. non mail order? I'm really stumped by them. Until recently I thought all the Sweet Dreams cribs were the yellow with blue wheels variety and all the sites I've looked at thus far only list that version. I can post pictures later tonight if that helps. Thanks in advance! Here are some photos of the pink Sweet Dreams Crib. As you can see, the primary differences are the molded white wheels, the different stickers and the pink mattress. Any ideas why this one is different than the standard yellow release?
