Do you buy all g1 Ponies that you find?

I often see G1 Ponies in the thrift stores where I live. But they are typically in very bad condition, missing mane and tail, with pen marks and so on. Typically the price is equivalent to $1 Would you buy those? Right now they have one of the sitting G1s (dont remember which) and I have left her at the shelf down there for months without buying her.

I absolutely buy all G1s I can find.  I hate to leave them there, I'd rather make sure they go to a good home, whether it's with me or with another collector.

I never see G1 ponies in real life - in thrift stores or flea markets so I don't really know if I would buy them or not... The collector in me would say YES!, but the practical part of me would say NO... It would have taken time to either clean or sell (or both) and I honestly don't know if I would have prioritized it. But it depends though - I'm a softy... so probably the "poor little pony is all alone in a thrift store" part of me would have won in the end

Generally speaking, I will pick up any g1 for a dollar.  But I admit that I did leave behind a really manky so soft Sundance and another pony one time.  But in that case, the seller was asking for $2-3 a piece and I did wipe her out of most of her ponies.


In your case, the sitting ponies are a little more sought after and if it isn't Bubbles or Seashell then she could be *really* sought after so I would go ahead and get her if I where you.

Either I keep them for my own collection or sell them, I love spending time on cleaning them and fix them up

The only time I found G1 in the wild was at an antique store, priced about $10 each in pretty decent condition...I didn't buy them all, that was a bit too high, so I just selected a few.  If I found one at thrift, I'd probably buy regardless of condition.

No I guess not. The last "wild" G1s I saw were at a swap meet. I was thrilled to see them, but they were in the collectors pose and that's not a pose I'd wanna collect. I'd get them if they were in alt poses though. Bowtie Snuzzle would be so pretty, or a Lemon Drop in the Posey pose. I think if I saw them in the wild again, it would depend on who they are, whether they are on my wish list and if I can live with their flaws.

Examples: I see a Windy missing her tail, she has marks/yellowing on her body, she is high on my wish-list. I can live with that by painting her white again and ordering hair for a new tail. I would be glad to take her.

I see Tootsie with marks, symbol loss and a missing mane and tail. I could fix the tail, but don't feel comfortable trying to fix the mane. I'm not good enough to match paint to that shade of green and I can't draw for squat.  She's not on my wishlist, so I leave her.

Usually I do. But this one time I left a scary rusted bbe baby lofty at goodwill. She was in a toy bag and I wasn't going to pay $3 for her in that condition.

I've left a few behind when their price didn't match their looks. I particurlarly remember one young woman wanting 50 sek (4-5 usd) for a rusty tailed, dirty and yellowed Pony Bride. I offered her half of that thinking I was generous, but instead she told me she could get several hundreds for her online..

But if I feel the price is right I do buy them. I've even saved a few G2s.

For the most part yes. There's a seller at the flea market here that has a ton, but they're asking $10-40 for them because "they're old and they don't make them anymore." Oh, and they're absolutely convinced that I'm one of the other users here, and keep asking me about a wrestling custom pony. Anyway, THOSE I don't pick up, but for the most part I have a "no pony left behind" attitude!

If I feel that they are beyond my repair then I will usually leave them behind. I saw a moldy Medley and a So Soft for $8 at a flea market a few times and passed them up. Now I am trying to get a deflocked So Soft collection going and I went back to the flea market and they were gone I was really kicking myself.

For the most part mold, bad age spots and a lot of marks keeps me from buying. I found a Fancy Pants pony a flea market a few years ago and she was missing a lot of hair plugs and scuffed symbol. Currently I am working on her making my first custom.

I left like 10 at a flea market once, because I was all out of money from buying g3s >_> I've been hard-pressed to find one or two at a time in the wild since.

Definitely for $1! And since you're in Denmark, there's a chance it could be a Nirvana or European exclusive.
