I am surprised at the cmc being that price. I'd really expect them being the same as Spike esp given no cutie marks, aside from the smaller size.

The first Rainbiw Dash and Muffin Pony were $14.50, but I don't know when the prices started to climb. But I am fairly certain that the increase is on Hot Topic's end rather than Funko's, because aren't they around $12.50 at Barnes and Noble? Probably cheaper at FYE, too.

^This.

Funko isn't hiking the price, Hot Topic is.  Blame them.

I'm so excited for these new ponies and minis! But I started in the glitter game late so I still have a few I need to find before I'm all caught up >_< and I don't usually collect the minis but I'll make an exception for this wave ^.^
Oh hey, I didn't know you joined the Arena! :P

Haha, hi! Yeah I joined back in January but I've been more active here in the last few months when ponies took over my attention :) at least until the SDCC Pops were released :P Now I'm splitting my time :P

The glitter game is a slippery slope, be careful!!!

Omg, I know! I started collecting glitters when I found Discord at HT. I promised myself I would only collect a few and not try to complete the set since I started late and now I have 5 in the mail and will only need 3 more to be all caught up with past releases  That promise didn't last long at all lol

Hot Topic jacks the price up on everything. Unless they have that coupon/hot cash deal going on, I won't get this set of Funko vinyls from them. I'll wait for the inevitable arena or ebay sale.

Price is agreed between manufacturer and retailer - Hot Topic cant sell at a grossly inflated price unless the manufacturer agrees. So I doubt Funko are blameless in this situation - its most likely a joint agreement.

That's true, but it's weird to me that HT jacks up the price on EVERYTHING in comparison to other stores.

Although, as I was typing this out, I realized maybe HT gets away with it because, for several months, they're the only ones with certain figures, so they charge more because there's no competition (I'm assuming).

Eh, whatever. I'll just buy the figures during a sale as I've always done. Saves any price complaints coming from me. If anything, they're at least consistent with sales and discounts, so you never really have to pay full price for these things if you do it at the right time.

Other retailers probably know that as the figures have been available else where they are only getting the secondary market. So a sliding scale of price due to being second to the release may be something thats also agreed perhaps. Tends to happen with a lot of brands which do exclusivity deals so would make sense for a similar agreement to be in place here.

I think in the US the retailers have the right to charge what they want. I mean MLP blind bags are like $6 at HT when they are like $3 everywhere else.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Everything in their store can be found cheaper elsewhere, and it's crazy to me when they have the same blind bag waves as Target and Walmart, but charge $2 or $3 more.

I'm not a fan of the CMC, I'll pass on them, or maybe if they ar ein the next wave of Mini Bling Box ?

So far I think we will have in mini blind box: (since we have them in Vynil and we saw some prototype)
Celestia
Luna
Cadance
Shining Armor
Spike ?
Chrysalis
Maud
Cheesy
CMC

So usually there is 12 mini, who I am missing ?

I don't think either series has had 12 characters (only counting the black figures, not any of the exclusives), so that list could easily be all of them.  Actually, this would mean that series 3 will have most characters.

Series 1 had ten, series 2 had seven.

Yeah and with 11 commons in a box of 12, they can do 4 exclusive variants with a 1/72 rarity. Or just make it all kinds of crazy if they want to make some of those 11 more exclusive, plus exclusive varients!

This is true-
Funko doesn't control the retail cost. In the US the manufacturer can suggest a retail price, and it is up to the retailer to follow that suggestion or to set a different price.  It is then up to the consumer to pay more or less than the suggested retail.

People are always complaining on the Funko board that Comic shops or retailers are "scalping" certain figures and exclusives- but Funko won't usually get involved unless they get a LOT of complaints- and there is some true gouging going on (they did step in once before on an exclusive issue)

I've noticed Hot Topic's ponies are ALWAYS higher than retail-  I think they set them that way on purpose so that they can sell for retail once they go 30% off (which happens around when the exclusivity ends).
