I prefer loose ponies! Unless I have no other option like with half my g2 collection being MIB and I refuse to open them, then ponies run free otherwise!
I do like my glitter funkos in their boxes as well

Used to open them all, then wanted them MIB ,so lately not very many get unboxed , Space for open ponies is scarce in my pony room ,and keeping it mib on a wall is much easier, I rather have MIB than loose now, but unboxing a pony is fun,If I want a loose pony I  mostly get them loose from China if available and cheaper than unboxing a new one :).
but a true complete pony someone said on here before is a pony with their box :) and I agree :)
My last unboxing was Sunset Shimmer FS ,had to get her twice though ,so yep one to keep MIB and one loose is my preference:)
I'm even extending this preference to my G2's ,MOC and loose of every pony if I can :).
G3s not so much ,1 of them MIB or loose is ok ,unless I fancy the pony so much ,then is both mib and loose like Minty,StarCatcher :)

Yup. With as many as I want, I have no choice but to de-box about 98% of them. My misprinted Fluttershy and special edition ponies I dont open however for obvious reasons. All the other brushables are freeeed!

Because 99% of them are easy to find and produced in so many numbers - not to mention how many are still available MIB/MOC - I happily release pretty much them all!

I display my G4 Ponies loose on top of my dresser. I just can't stand to keep any of my toys, Pony and non-Pony, in boxes.

Only thing I have mostly MIB (Couldn't get the figure out, was glued to the plastic) is the Shadowbolt RD TRU exclusive. The hair on Shadowbolt Dash was glued, so I decided to leave her as is. Everything else is spread out over whatever shelf space I have in my room.

I do the same thing with my glitter Funko figures, since those are probably the rarest of anything G4.  ^.^

The regular Funko figures are out of box, always.

Yeah I unboxed my FS Sunset Shimmer very quickly as well, couldn't wait to see how pretty she looked under that turquoise plastic tat!!

Most brushable G4's I do unbox.  I can leave Funko's in their box no problem, I cannot brush them anyway!  I have the Train set MIB - I do not have the room to display it outside the box, plus why do I need another loose Pinkie, same with the Sweetie Belle train carriage I have MIB.  The Fluttershy FS Styling strands I have MIB mostly because I haven't yet worked out what I am gonna do with that hair.  I have the Sweet Sounds Pinkie as well MIB, but she is quite HTF outside the US, and was a Pinkie grail of mine!

I do.  I admit it.  The cure is to send me tons of MIB ponies so I can practice not opening them!  :D
