Do you unbox your G4's?
« on: February 24, 2015, 10:50:20 AM »
I picked up the light up giant Rarity this weekend (she's over the top and tacky and I LOVE IT) and after looking over her box and all the bits and pieces she came with I decided it may be better to just keep her in there. She displays quite nicely that way, I think and I have a much better chance of actually keeping her accessories this way. :p Although I wish I knew why Hasbro thought it was a good idea to leave the diamonds on the box unsealed. -_-

I don't really like how lackluster the cards are for G4 singles, but I think the boxed/packaged ponies actually look quite nice!

How do you like to display G4's? Loose or MIB/MOC?

Loose loose, everything loose  :P really don't have space for MIBs/MOCs. If I had a MIB/MOC G1, I would free them  :P Luckily I'll never own one, so...

I have most ponies loose.  I have some things still in their boxes, but I'll probably keep everything from here on out boxed until after I move this summer.  Then I'll have to decide how I want to display things...

I've got a Cupcake in box but only because she's presumably more valuable that way and I might want to sell her for a loose one someday. Otherwise loose, takes up less room and is easier to play with.

Everything's loose! I'd love to own a MIB of my favourite G1 one day, but just because she's my favourite, and it would be the only one. :)

Loose. The handful of other toys I've kept in boxes have taught me that when I do that the box can still be damaged. Plus, they're toys. I wanna play with them. If I wanted to collect something I wasn't gonna touch, there are many other beautiful things that could / would be lining my shelf. To each their own, though.

As for the accessory issue, if I'm not gonna use the accessories for my ponies I put 'em into their own little ziploc baggies (which I label) and keep them in a larger glittery Rarity tote that I bought. I'll come up with a better system as my collection grows, hopefully, but this works for now.

Loose! I pretty much never keep anything MIB (and the few things I have kept MIB are just to keep them safe until I find a good place for them - I still plan to debox them eventually :P), takes up too much space and I think it's boring, tbh x)

As for accessories, unless they go on the pony I just put them in a zip-lock bag. :)

I've considered the ziploc baggie route, but I'll lose those too! XD

When I started collecting G4 I was quite late to the party and caught up by buying loose ponies via Ebay.  So my standard versions of the mane 6 and common characters are all loose but I didn't cut their hair or anything.  Everyone I buy new now from TRU/Wilco I keep them in the packaging.  I figure they use their magic to come out when I'm not looking and then put themselves back?!  Can anyone remember what it's called when unicorns do that thing where they disappear in one place and reappear in another?

I keep all of my ponies in there boxes. But then I kept all my toys in there boxes when I was younger to. I am kind of weird in them ways about things.

I unbox all of them, unless I've run out of room.  They're a lot more easy to display when they're out of their boxes.  I also kind of like opening them, except for the dolls. So many tie-downs....

I open all my ponies.  I do have some G3's that are in the box still.  One being a scooter pony whom I don't have room for right now with the scooter to display properly.  I also have one of the remake 25th anniversary G1 sets which I plan on keeping in the box, because of the box art and it displays nicely.
