Goodbye, target!
« on: January 15, 2015, 07:15:14 AM »
So Target had just announced that they are closing all the stores in Canada. I started working there before it even opened, as a price accuracy team member 2 years ago. I quit after 6 months. Wayyy too stressful! I cannot believe it. (But I totally can because they always had trouble making sales) They just didn't make enough money.

The good thing about this is that now I will be able to buy a ton of things there for super cheap!! It's a ten minute walk for me!

Just heard about this a few hours ago. In a way I'm not surprised, but at the same time it's sad to see it go. We don't have one in my city, but there are a couple we've gone to. Definitely will be checking out the sales to stock up on things for cheap.

I hope this isn't a sign of trouble for US stores. My mom has worked at Target for quite a while now......

I think America is safe, target has been there for a long time. target came ere two years ago and they bought out all the Zellers (which was kinda like a target here, had a bunch of everything but it wasn't that great) and replaced all of them with Target. People kept saying how overpriced it is and no one really liked it. I think the target in us is cheaper

Oh no! That is such a bummer!  I've always wondered why the prices were so much higher for the Targets in Canada

Target is actually fairly pricey, imo. They're not as bad as Kohl's but it is still incredibly easy to blow $100 in there. Granted, I'm in California where the sales tax is 9-10% so that does factor in.

I know what you mean! The tax here is 13% so  it raises things a lot

Woah, wait--really?  My sister works in a starbucks, there o.o

What happened?

ETA:  And now im super worried for her since she now needs to work there until she can get her career back in order.  Its complicated, but I think she might be going back to college either in September or next year, after not being able to pass her current course (due to being half a second too slow on a beep test...which I call bs on)

Sales tax or VAT is 20% here. Just sayin'.  Sending good pony wishes to everyone affected by this.
