And there are many others! I have to admit I love many of these movies more than Disney. The darker themes and just something about the characters, I'm not sure

Also, I'm sad that while so many got one or more sequels, the quality fell immensely. Non-Disney traditional animated sequels never came close to capturing the magic of the originals

Scruffy

I think I had this as a kid. Is it about a dog?

Oh, I remember having scruffy as a kid. Tikibirds, It's about a pup who tries to find a permanent owner. For a while she settles with some dog friends as a stray (whilst trying to avoid the dog catchers.) Its pretty sad at times, but has a happy ending.
She and her best friend Butch look a lot like Lady and Tramp.
