I also enjoy Sofia and Doc so this could be really good. If nothing else, my best friend's son is right in the target age. He'll be 2 in July. You better believe that he will be getting the toys from his "Auntie Mufasa" (that's me!).

Kion looks so cute, although I had hoped he would be Kiara and Kovu's child. xD But yay more Lion King!

I am looking forward to this. I didn't have any hope for Sofia the First when I heard about that and I quite like that show (it's a guilty pleasure show for me, hehe), so I have faith that this one will be good too. For some reason,  I could imagine The Lion Guard being something like a "animal/lion version of Sofia the First" as far as cameos go.

RIP, Kopa dear. I'll see you in Epic Mickey 3, at least!

Heh in my little headcannon, Kopa doesn't "exist" because  (prior to TLK2) Zira killed him, thus enraged Simba and he exiled her and the other rebel lionesses to the Outlands.
But before I read what his name was, I thought it would be Kopa in the pic.

Not sure how familiar you are with the Epic Mickey games, but me and a friend had our headcanon made up shortly after the game was announced - Kopa was forgotten and wound up in Wasteland, living in the deepest part of Ventureland. Hence his sudden disappearance, and Simba's belief that Zira had killed him

Although on the subject of a prequel for Mufasa and Scar... Now that would have been amazing. I would have loved to see the film 'end' just as Simba's presentation begins.

I just came here to post about this, seeing as it was the first thing I saw when I checked my morning RSS feeds, but you've already found it! Oh well!

I'm mildly disappointed it's going to be targeted to such a young audience, but I have little doubt that they'll pull it off. Disney generally know what they're doing.

I know a bit about Epic Mickey, but never played the games. Hehe, that would have been neat if Kopa had actually showed up in the game, since he is really forgotten about (shoot, I bet most TLK/Disney fans didnt even know he existed unless they looked him up or managed to read the book he was in).

I didnt really like the other movies, the original lionking is still my favorit childhood movie, but i am excited for this.

Yep! I have my reservations about "using" masterpiece characters, but at least there is this kernel of conservation ed in the show (and $$ to be made in merchandising, a necessary evil).

That show sounds super cute.  And I like this quote from the article:
"The show will focus on conservation education, the importance of family and community, while also highlighting creative problem-solving skills and diversity."

I don't like the 'younger brother of kiara' approach, mainly because he wasn't created when the movies were out.

I would have rather seen mufasa and scar.  Im sure they would have achieved the same purpose and it gives those that grew up on it backstory or forclosure.
