My birthplace of Yuma, AZ is 1,176 miles away from Lethbridge. That is, with the "as the bird flies" way of measuring. It's 1,465 miles away by vehicle. It's still quite a distance from me, but not nearly as far as it between Yuma and Whitehorse. So I'm certainly closer!

i was born in walnut creek, california. i did live in concord which was just a few miles away from there, but then i moved to texas and now i am in utah, so i am a bit closer again. so now i am 716 to 803 miles away depending on the direction that is taken.

My husband, however, is nearly 4,000 miles from his birthplace in England. Kinda puts things in perspective when I feel far away from my family.
