I work third shift - it's dark when I go to work - dark when I come home. I've never been afraid of it - I used to take long walks in the woods at camp in the dark without a flashlight when I worked there - used to scare all sorts of campers sneaking out of their cabins at night...

I find the dark to be comforting actually.. I feel like I'm hiding under the blankets and it makes me feel safe instead of scared :p Who knows why!

I'm not too fond of the dark, though it has become a lot better as I grew older. I sleep best in a room that isn't completely dark.

I don't believe in anything supernatural, so scary movies don't get to me after dark. It's real life things that get me nervous. I'm usually okay in my own home, but I really don't like to walk alone after dark.

I'm really only scared of taking scraps out to the compost bin after dark.  I'm terrified of wetas and they always hang round my compost bin.

I work 3rds, but am still super terrified of the dark, past creepy experiences, can't stand being in a house alone unless all the lights are on. Also wetas are terrifying looking!

i've never been afraid the dark itself, but more nervous about what I couldn't see when it was dark. Still, that only happened when I stayed up way too late, I'd get paranoid.

Night driving terrifies me, but that's not the dark, that's being blinded by lights doubly reflecting off my glasses and windscreen. So so so scary. especially in the rain.

walking around in the dark feels nice, and natural to me. I love it when everything is quiet. Just wish I lived in a safer place to appreciate it.

Maybe I should learn to wield a sword.

I generally find the dark nice and restful :)
I remember being a little scared of the dark as a child, but it was the kind of squeal and jump in the bed before the monsters get you kind of fear. A bit scary, a bit fun! It's kind of fun to be scared sometimes, lol!

When I was a child I was so terrified of the dark I would scream and cry if the light bulb on my nightlight went out. It meant a night of no sleep for any of us if we were out.  Which really is dumb, mom could have just turned the bathroom light on for me but, she never thought of that. I didn't have a light in my closet.  To this day I can not sleep in a dark room.  There is a reason for this which I will not go through in this thread.  For me its post traumatic stress.  Sad really that even now..no way will you catch me in the dark for long.  I have tons of battery operated nightlights should the power go out.  Its a real thing for me.

I'm not afraid of the actual dark, but I am wary of taking my dog outside when it's dark. He's really tiny (6 lbs.) so I'm worried that an owl might swoop down and pick him up or a coyote might jump out of a bush and grab him or something.

Oh, yes -- this too! One time I had to drive home from work in the dark, and it was raining about as hard as possible. I couldn't see ANYTHING. My eyes are pretty bad, even with glasses, and when I saw headlights they only made it even harder for me to see. I ended up driving at about 20 mph and it took almost an hour for me to get home (it normally would have taken me about 20 minutes). It was one of the most stressful nights of my life.

I'm only afraid if my cats get nervous.  They can see better than I can.
