Equal Rights brag?

Today the U.S. Supreme Court struck down DOMA (Defense Of Marriage Act) - what does that mean?  It means that my wife and I now have all the same benefits as a married couple!  If I die- she gets my house and stuff without having to pay a buttload of estate taxes; when we file for taxes every year, it won't be the huge, snarly, expensive mess that it has been the last few years; and on and on.

Even more importantly, it is recognition that my marriage is just as valid as anyone elses-  yay for equality!

This makes me so happy, and I'm so happy for both of you too!

I wanted to stay home and celebrate (especially since I worked till midnight last night) but dragged my rear in anyway-

SO HAPPY!  We already had a party scheduled for next week to celebrate our marriage, now we have even more to celebrate!

Somewhat appropriately, I built a 5ft Unicorn out of paper-mache and paper clay for the occasion, hehe

High five!!!  I was watching the news with bated breath today!  I just kept checking the headlines and the pictures with the biggest grin on my face.

Good heavens, I want to see pictures of this unicorn.

I've been so happy I've been crying all morning- 

I even had Krispy Kreme make up a bunch of rainbow donuts so I could bring a load in to the office to get everyone sick on my elation



I will take pics of the Unicorn-  keep in mind he was a learning process- I had no idea that paper mache was such a pain in the rear... or that building a huge sculpture out of the stuff would be so tricky!   Still-  now that he has big fluffy hair he looks much better (still a bit lumpy- but cute enough for a party decoration, hehe)  He's been hiding under a rigged tarp on our back patio to hide from the rain (he is actually too big to fit through the door, heh)

My mum has made animals out of paper mache many times, and she says it's really hard and she learns something new every time she tries. Most animals don't turn out the way she intended, though I still think they look lovely. I can't wait to see your unicorn.
