Not only immaturity, but also large amounts of fighting and homophobia ("MH says we should be ourselves and I just don't like homos - it's just part of my uniqueness, freedom of speech! Bla bla!!")
I wonder if this will subside a little now that Garrett Sander himself has a tumblr and posts under the MH tag...

I use to occassionally lurk on monsterhigh.com, but never had any desire to join or post there and frankly did not find it as informative as I would have liked.  I would pretty much Google what I am trying to find out and go where ever those links would take me.  On several of those occassions my searches brought me here and I lurked a little, then my good friend Faunabay joined this forum and encouraged me to come sign up.  I am glad I did, I really enjoy it and I have no need to Google anything MH as you guys are always in the know and very fun to talk MH with.  I enjoy the maturity of this board and how well run the forum is.  The Arena, in my opnion, is the best.

I feel uncomfortable and a bit angry at the same time that people would really bring their issues with minorities into MH collecting, or anywhere else for that matter. Bigotry isn't individuality or "expressing oneself"

I'm finding everyone's input so interesting, and am uber glad to know that I'm not the only one who relies on the arena primarily.

I agree its moderated so well and everyone is super friendly and informative.

what I do find odd and interesting(in a good way) is that it seems several folks, like yourself Shahaila(and others?), signed up specifically for Monster High and don't even come here for ponies if I am understanding you correctly? That is so interresting, it's like if I joined a smurfs board to get my Superman information fix...I mean MH and MLP are relatable but its a completely different manufacturer and they're dolls not horses...so it's just very intriguing to me!

It isn't going on all the time, but as of late there have been large quantities of it (thankfully, it's often brought up by the same people and not a problem that concerns every fan that posts under the MH tag regularly.
I stay away from all personal opinions about new characters, I generally stay away from shipping, roleplay or discussions that aren't about factual stuff like release dates or leaked pics.

I definitely don't want to scare people away.
There are many tumblr blogs that feature lovely photos, art and infos. Tumblr is simply great for sharing pictures and to pass on infos in a short amount of time!
I'd just advice you to keep to main blogs and stay away from the comment section and character discussions.
While I have a tumblr acc I have simply bookmarked certain blogs I like and check them out once or twice a week, very primitively, via my bookmark or feed.
That way I don't need to rely to mch on tumblr saviour

And when I say f/f or m/m I'm not talking about sexual situations. Even a photo of two same-sex dolls holding hands didn't get accepted. I hope they have changed this rule by now.

It's so idiotic, since Mattel as a company is super gay and trans friendly and so many gay and trans people work on Monster High, as in: they helped create this brand, you unthankful bigots! *shakes head*

I can read posts here, everybody has been wonderful and awesome and friendly.

Yep you got it right LOL.  I have not even been on the Pony side of this forum, mainly because my husband would have a cow if I started brining in pony's along with MH dolls, and I know I am weak when it comes to pretty collectible things I would probably start wanting pony's if I went there lol.  I am just glad this forum is here, it is a gem.

back to the topic. I think I came here for ponies, but on the other hand I also remember registering so I could see MH pics, so it could be either or. Anyway, I love the community and I have never been this active on the internets, or what I mean is interactive, I used to post on the equestrian forum I mentioned, but I didn't really talk to people like I do here.

I posted some Lagoona/Cleo and Gil/Deuce photos I took on tumblr! People seemed to really enjoy that during some of the fights. As long as I can photograph the love, I'll take pictures of any kind of MH couple!

It's sadly not just an internet thing. Even people who have nothing against homosexuality will often claim that it's "too sexual" for kids. Heterosexuality is "normal", it's pure and natural and clean, it's not even a sexuality, it's love, while homosexuality is only about sex and fetish and going into dark alleys at night to get into suspicious clubs and bars.

Try to explain that falling in love with the same sex is just as much about love and commitment as their own sexuality and they will laugh at you. I've had the pleasure to meet such people IRL.

I am glad there are plenty of nice and awesome people on tumblr too! I always block all the drama people. They are not needed. That fight was just nasty. Definitely blocked quite a few people.

I once posted a picture on deviantart of my Spectra and Ghoulia dolls holding hands and Spectra fixing Ghoulia's glasses. Nothing racy at all, just like, cute shipping pictures... and yeah, I had a bunch of preteens essentially calling me a creep and pervert because I did something "perverted" like showing a picture of two females holding hands. I didn't know that monsterhigh dolls ever had a "no gay pictures allowed" rule. How does anyone even enforce that?

I think it's less to do with tumblr (though in all respects, tumblr can be an insidious place) and more to do with the fact that these people are children and like many middle school aged people are kind of inept, not taught by their parents to respect other people, etc. It's kind of the nature of fandoms that attract that age group. That certainly doesn't excuse their behavior or anything, but it seems it be a trend of that age group to think that being needlessly biased against gay people is an okay thing to do.
