Rescue at Midnight Castle, the very first got me absolutely OBSESSED. It was like Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising Sequence combined with magic horses and a hardcore "child" fantasy that my child-mind could at the time appreciate more. It incorporated rainbows and was all around amazing. My obsession could never really spread to the G1 toys though, because the toyline had recently ended. Now there were G2s. I didn't like the G2 characters. (probably because I didn't know who exactly any of them were) But I loved their designs.) Since I didn't have a pegasus I ended up making cardboard wings for my first pony.

The G1 cartoon was definitely my hook into MLP. It also inspired my own stories and shaped me into the person I am today.

I loved the toys before there was a show. So, the cartoon has always played a minor role in my MLP obsession.

That's a good question.  I'm trying to remember!  I am PRETTY sure that I got a G1 pony before ever seeing the G1 cartoons.  It was a long time ago, but buying Sugarberry is my first pony memory, not watching the show.  I know I loved the show (MLP and Friends and its specials/movies) eventually though.

FiM got me into MLP. Some collector friends were going ga-ga over it, so I heard about it all the time. I assumed it was stupid and blew it off.

It was a while after Seasons 1 & 2 went to Netflix that one day I had nothing better to do, so I turned it on. A few episodes later I was hooked to the show and bent on the thought of collecting ponies.

I always adored the toys, Constantly drooling over my friends ponies as well as any I saw in the stores.

Mainly had fakies myself, but I loved them too.

Still, My absolute clearest pony memory is sitting in front of the TV in the early morning before getting ready for school watching "MLP Tales" with such devotion.
It was much more important to me than any other TV series and I was always looking forward to it.

After it stopped airing I still watched the episodes my mother taped, over and over.

I think I loved the toys before watching the show, but I am sure that the Tales show was what started the "obsession" part of it all ^^;
