Did a MLP cartoon first get you interested in My Little Ponies?

Was never that much into the ponies when I was little. I was more of a Hotwheels and Barbie girl.
But I did have a few G2s and G3s.

I definately got into it with G4, and found out that while I love the cartoon of G4 more, I prefer G1 toys.

I had ponies back in the early 80's. Not sure when the G1 cartoons started, but I do remember definitely having ponies before I saw any cartoons.

Now I did see and own the movie, and the movie made me want particular ponies, like Wind Whistler, but I already had a pretty good collection going already.

I was pretty young, so I can't really remember completely, but I am mostly certain that I got the G1 toys first.  I really didn't watch all that much TV when I was a kid, and I had several toys for certain.  I do remember watching some of the original cartoon, but the main cartoon I watched was My Little Pony Tales, and I definitely had the toys by then.

My mom is responsible for my MLPs - she bought me Cotton Candy first when I was about 5 (I remember staring in awe at the wall of MOC G1s in the department store) and took me back and bought Blossom the next day.  (No idea why I got two ponies in two days, it wasn't a usual thing that I got toys randomly like that.)

Having said that, however, I'm still firmly of the opinion that Rescue from Midnight Castle is the best pony cartoon ever.

The MLP & Friends cartoon has been around longer than I have, but I think that I would have loved the toys even if I hadn't seen it. I love the G1 cartoons too, of course, they were amongst my favourite cartoons when I was a child (and still!), but they weren't the kick to get me into the toys. My first ponies werent characters on the shows, or any of my childhood ponies for that matter!

FiM got me into mlp ^^ It was when the craze just started, if I recall correctly. Amusingly enough, I don't really like the show much anymore (I prefer the G1 cartoons now). The toys are what I love now, those and the occasional fan music (though I wouldn't consider myself a part of the fandom).

We didnt really have anything but PBS growing up. So no pony cartoons for me. I just loved the toys.

I have never watched any of the cartoons and I have no desire to.  I have only ever been interested in the toys.

I wasn't into brand name toys and never knew how to answer, "what do you want for Christmas"?  I liked Breyer but didn't know what they were called.  I liked plushies but nothing in particular.  I never knew what I wanted until I saw Midnight Castle.  It changed me forever.      The other mlp cartoons didn't have quite the same impact but I loved the toys.

I actually didn't think I would like FiM at all, but Fluttershy won me over.

I got Windwhistler when I was 4 and my sister already had Glory, so for me I think it must have been the ponies (g1, natch) first.  I *must* have seen the cartoon as a kid but I have no memory of watching it.  I know I didn't see the movie until I was an adult.

The g3 line, toys again, got me back into collecting g1s.

I never even knew there were G1 cartoons till I joined the arena! I had G1s as my main toys and they were always my favs. To this day I've never seen any G1 cartoons, and even though I've checked out FiM I don't like it.
