^ ooppsies! Sometimes I get you and Maddie confused x3 but yeah the southern OK area has a tor count of about 5-7. I wouldnt stress out too much!

Your work doesnt give you hazardous weather pay!? :O I work overnights at Walmart and distribute toys and I also work in the backroom and pick/bin merchandise. We also do not accept doctor notes unless its an STD or LOA but if we call in and the weather is bad either in my work's area or my home area we get what is 'hazardous weather pay' for that day. We call-in, select 'hazardous weather/natural disaster', and when we go back to work we go to personel and let them know we called in for that so it doesnt count agaisnt us or effect our paycheck. It might depend on managment too.  I hope its actually not that bad because i get to put out the newJurassic World toys tonight!

Anyways I really hope everyone in the southern plains is safe! Husband is looking into (when we get a better house with a REAL backyard) making a storm shelter by digging a huge hole in the ground, filing it with a broken down school bus, and pouring it with cement and then covering it with earth xD Sounds thrifty but with the clay and Austin chalk here basements are a no-no. He saw the image in google, you use the back emergency door to enter! Kind of neat. So weird for tornado alley houses to not have basements!!

Oh, don't worry about it. I just wanted to make sure you were referring to me and not her... She has no presence in this topic whatsoever so it confused me. xD

Yeah... There was a story in recent days of a lady who drowned in her storm shelter, so... You can't win either way. o.o

I think the lack of basements in my area also has to do with the composition of ground material (LOL I'm clueless, as to whether it's clay or not, sorry). Taking cover for us is going to the innermost bathroom. It's terrifying beyond belief, and it really doesn't help that we also have three dogs that are not usually out together.

^ It has to do mostly with the clay! It actually moves nderground and holds water pretty well, then dries out. Causes major problems with basement walls and results in leaking/cracking! Its the exact problem in my area, but with Austn chalk and red clay.

As I am typing this, a huuuge thunderclap happened! It made my lizard jump and set off car alarms in my area! xD

I have a way to make storms less scary!!! My friend and I used to do this allllll the time as kids but pretend the rain, lightning, and thunderclaps are legendary Johto pokemon!:D Raikou is the lightning, Suicune is the rain, and Entei is the ROAR of the thunder! It made it a lot less terrifying for my friend, we pretended all 3 were battling in the sky! x3 I STILL do this even to this day! My husband is in on the joke, he told me just now Entei is here!

I know i keep posting in this thread....   but sonething incredible happened today! Mother Nature shows mercy in my city. Im absolutely convinced! So there was anice-sized funnel forming in Frisco this morning near 7am. My friend who lives near the high school said the sirens were going off! Im driving home at the time from work. This was the sky as I was going home:

7:13 am It was really trying to drop a twister! You could see the rotation in it very clearly with little low clouds under it, but it stopped and just traveled east. No sirens went off though where I was! I loved it, I thought is was very beautiful but I really hoped it wouldnt hit an urban area. Luckily it didnt!

Then just black for about 10 minutes, followed by lots of rain.

As soon as the funnel was over mid-western Mckinney the funnel disapated! It wasnt until it crossed over our city that it dropped hail, heavy rain, and a tornado over Tyler which is still pretty far away! IDK whaaaat it is about my city but for sone reason ANY severe storm that comes over us is always 'skipped"! I wish I could shate that with the reat of Texas and Oklahoma. Could it be maybe our rivers or city atmosphere? This isnt just luck, something is going on with the weather and my city! The same thing happened last year too- tornado off 380 outside Mckinney, it just sprinkles in Mckinney, then as SOON as it was country a tornado dropped! :O

This afternoon was supposed to be really bad? I fell asleep, though... I woke up and according to my parents it all stayed to the South. Thank goodness!

May's not over yet, though. =(
