Price Check Archives / Re: How much do I want to pay for Starglow?
« on: February 22, 2016, 11:06:56 AM »
I think condition is a huge factor for the GnS prices as well.  Those ponies were particularly affected by sun damage.  Finding one in top notch minty condition can be difficult so people are usually willing to pay a premium for them.  If you're okay with a little bit of plasticizer break down then you can find a good deal though

Pony Corral / Re: Scented pony perfume ingredients?
« on: February 22, 2016, 11:04:23 AM »
I think it's pretty safe to say that the scents are of chemical ingredients, not natural, so they should not trigger your allergies.  :)

This is my bet as well.  At first I thought this thread was ingredients for making perfume that smells like ponies!  Man if you could bottle that scent I would be the first to buy it.  Nothing beats pony room smell :lovey:

Price Check Archives / Re: Price Check- Rapunzel's Comb

wow, my jaw dropped. I thought geeze, the float is about $7. of course you'll get more for your comb! until I looked up completed listings. I honestly don't know what to do here, because if the comb is correct it is for one of the most expensive US ponies. Good luck  selling. :)

My buddy is going to be so happy I'm an upgrade addict. she got my old soda sippin set years back when I bought deboxed ones.

I know right!  One went for over 80$ which is what my estimation of Punzie's comb was if the prices have doubled since 2012 (as the cost of Punzie herself has).  My daughter is just in love with the soda sipping ponies and their floats so I really want to get her one but I also don't want to undervalue or overvalue the comb.  Kitkat you are so right, rare accessories are so hard to price!  I'm going to just put the comb up on eBay and see what happens.  I'll advertise the auction in the Sales arena and facebook and hope for the best :D

Hmmm I tried magic eraser.. took off a fine layer of grime and all the the OTHER marks but no dice on these ones.

i still havent tried 100% acetone.. i have hydrogen peroxide too but its making me nervous, i thought it was mostly for white ponies??

Peroxide cream, acne creams or Remove-Zit can fade color out of ponies and are usually just used for white ponies.  That is different than the liquid hydrogen peroxide that you get from a drugstore in a brown bottle.  The liquid is only 3% (you can check the bottle for the concentration to make sure) and it is less concentrated than peroxide creams which are usually around 10%.  I don't know what concentration Remove-Zit cream is.  The manufacturer doesn't have to disclose the ingredient list because the cream isn't a cosmetic.  However, I would bet that it's much higher than 3% and probably higher than 10% acne cream as well.  Another confounding factor is that acne creams are made up of Benzyl Peroxide which is not the same thing as Hydrogen Peroxide, though both are oxidizers and bleaching agents.

I've used liquid 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on colored ponies with no problem, but I've never used it on a Soft and Sleepy Newborn so I can't tell you with 100% confidence that it's safe to use.  What I've found mostly is that H2O2 soaking results in a brighter more vibrant color returning to the ponies and removes age discoloration.  I have never found it to remove marks from pen, saddle sores or dye transfer or pony cancer, regrind what have you.  So I'm not sure if it would really help you here.  It may be that I don't soak the ponies long enough to effect mark removal though.  I need to get some baits and through them in different concentrations of H2O2 and see what kind of effect it has.

I cant help you with a price, sorry :( I guess too its less than her barettes because those are so small and easy to lose but on the other hand, its the first time in years that I see this comb while the barettes have been up about 2 or 3 times.
Sorry, im no good help :/
But im 100% sure I would never ever trade my Punzie´s comb for a float (If I had even one of those items XD... one can dream...).

I guess my thought was that the barrettes have more display value because you can put them on Punzie and complete her look, while as the comb is just a comb, good for completing the set but not so much for display.  You can tell I'm not super into collecting combs  I found an old thread from 2012 that listed the comb and barrettes as 30-50$ but that same thread listed Punzie herself as 450-500. Prices have gone up soooo much since then.  I'm really unable to guess prices for things anymore  :yikes:

My daughter reaaaaaaly wants a float to go with Chocolate Delight and I've been watching eBay but they are just crazy expensive.  Maybe the best bet would be to throw the comb up on eBay and use the winnings to purchase a float since they aren't a 1:1 value trade?

I bet Punzie's comb is more difficult to find, but I know those floats are super sought after and they always seem to sell for a lot of eBay so I wasn't sure.  Anyone have an idea on a price for Punzie's comb and a price for Choco Delights soda float?  I'm assuming it's less than her barrettes, though really I have no idea.

Any idea on a fair price for Punzie's  comb?  Would it be fair to trade it for Chocolate Delights Soda?   Comb is in perfect condition as far as I can tell:

Pony Corral / Re: Weird marks on pony, removal help?
« on: February 20, 2016, 05:41:15 AM »
I'm going to echo what I said on facebook and congratulate you on an amazing find! Because the discoloration pattern seems to be mainly on her feet, I wonder if she was sitting on a carpet or something for sometime and either there was dye transfer or it was moist and accelerated the plastic breakdown where she was in contact with it. It really looks to regular for mold and I'd think you'd be able to get rid of some of the staining with nail polish remover if it were mold.

As to what to try next, has anyone used hydrogen peroxide with one of the soft and sleepy newborns?  It's difficult because they are so uncommon you definitely don't want to do something to make it worse.  My guess would be sunfading first and then maybe hydrogen peroxide if that doesn't work, but I've never tried either with a S&SN so those are just semi-educated guesses.  Hopefully someone who's had experience restoring one of these guys will chime in.

And again, OMG congrats!  Such pony luck you have :D

Off Topic / Re: I am moving!... what's fun in Indianapolis?
« on: February 19, 2016, 03:57:50 AM »
Wow I'm going to have to bookmark this thread Ashlyne!  We only live about two hours from Indy.  We've been to the Zoo and the Children's Museum (which are both amazing by the way!) but never to many of these other attractions.

I'm going to echo that Indiana has more natural history and areas than many people think. Hoosier national forest is really awesome.  They have some nice backpacking trails there.  I'm not sure how far they are from Indy, but Shades and Turkey Run State Parks are insanely wonderful.  They have rock walls, waterfalls, climbing, a beautiful river running through both parks.  It's just a place you wouldn't think would be in Indiana

Thanks!  I cannot find evidence of where a sample tag would have been, as with the Rainbow Dash, but it almost looks like part of the fur around the existing tag has been cut so it's possible there was a sample tag next to the MLP tag and it was carefully snipped away.  When AusMLP called the company about the sample the rep she talked to seemed really upset that she had found a sample for sale.  It's possible if someone had the other samples they made sure to get rid of any tags identifying them as such.  She is definitely not full size though and as far as I know is the only Sweetberry of that size and may therefore be considered a prototype.

I do love how thick her fur is and how cute it looks on a pony of her size.  She is the most cuddly pony ever!

I have no comlaints about her starting the thread for that reason...i have a problem with her posting my user name having people block me for a misunderstanding and not having her defending what actually happened. in turn making people not trust me...sh can post questions without using my name making me out to be a problem.

Tak's original post did not call you out. People in the thread asked for a name, and the title was modified by a mod.

Since you have given your side, I'm sure the original post will take out the bit about the listing.

This is true.  Tak originally posted here to get info about how to better describe ponies to avoid issues in the future.  It was the fact that a case was opened before she had a chance to resolve any issues, combined with what seemed to be selling of free ponies that prompted many (myself included) to urgently request an ID of the user to be posted.  This is not against the rules in the Trader Support forum and Tak did absolutely nothing wrong by posting your user ID.  Frankly, I would not want to deal with someone who opens a case before allowing me to resolve any issue.  This is a big no no in the collecting community and even if you aren't new to Paypal it can negatively impact your account.  Also, even though the Arena does not offer protection in the same way that eBay does, any transaction in paypal that is not marked as "gift" is protected, regardless of whether it is on eBay or not.  Thus there was no cause to file a claim so quickly.  Besides this, messaging people with BIN auctions on eBay that don't have Best Offer option in order to get a lower price is frowned upon and considered by many to be harassment.  I would recommend not doing that in the future.

Pony Corral / Re: Toy Fair 2016 is coming!
« on: February 15, 2016, 04:36:23 AM »
Wow!  There is really a lot to like here.  Those pearlized ponies, the Library tree, the Crystal Empire Playset, new Fashion Style and it looks like they are really running with the EQG Chibi figures.  I will definitely be excited to see these in stores!

My only gripe- is it just me or is there no Rarity in the pearlized ponies?  Isn't she an obvious choice to make into a pearlized pony considering the crystal empire episode?
