Hello all, it's been a long time since I've last posted but still happily lurking around. I have a small collection of G1s and have often wondered about this girl I found in a lot. She has the usual pink tinsel in her mane but multicolour tinsel in her tail. No evidence of being tampered with that I can see. Does anyone know if mismatched tinsel is commonly found in Star Dancers or other sparkle or princess ponies? Is she a variant or factory error? Many thanks!  :lovey:

My collection is small but much loved! 1 have 3 G1 ponies left that I'm still on the look out for:

Sweet Pop
Pina Colada
Pretty Beat (Blue hair)

I would love to find these ponies in as close to their original condition as possible (preferably without their body and hair colours faded).
If you have any of them available, please let me know. I live in Australia. Many thanks!

Off Topic / Farewell James Horner :(
« on: June 23, 2015, 04:12:21 AM »
I'm so saddened to hear about the loss of James Horner this morning.

He was an amazing composer, conductor and orchestrator. He wrote many beautiful film scores through the years that moved me and inspired my love for soundtrack music since I was little. Seeing his name in the credits of films always delighted me.

A few of my particular favourite pieces of his include:
The opening theme to An American Tail
"Heritage of the Wolf" from Balto (the music during the white wolf scene)
The theme to A Beautiful Mind (which is also my favourite piece to play on the piano)
And of course Titanic, and many, many others :listen:

So long Mr. Horner, thank you for all you've contributed.

Off Topic / Can anyone identify this little plastic pony please?
« on: April 08, 2015, 12:09:55 AM »
I had a small, all-plastic pony figure in the nineties that I keep remembering, and am really curious to what it was. I don't recall a symbol so I don't think it was mlp. Here is a little pic of what I believe she looked like:

The pony was white with (I think) red, yellow & blue hair.
She was rubbery and hollow, and there was a hole on the underside of the base about the size of a marble.
The pose was kinda condensed (similar to the picture), with no gaps between the legs or the base.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

MLP Nirvana / New to Nirvanas! Quick question about Italy Starflower :)
« on: February 05, 2015, 11:14:34 PM »
Apologies if this is a noob question :p I have noticed that there seem to be 2 variations of Italy Starflower in my hunt for her:
A light blue version who is similar to regular Starflower, and a darker blue version with slightly different hair colours, such as the orange in the front of her mane.

Pictures belong to shira**MLP4LIFE and My Little Wiki

Firstly, have I got my facts right or is the lighting in every photo I've seen just playing tricks on me? And are those the only 2 Italy starflower variations?
I have been after her darker blue colour for ages, but every version I come across seems to have frizzy, dry hair like in the photo. Is this normal for that version? Does the hair look sleek and shiny out of the box?

If anybody has any information, pictures, or a dark blue Italy Starflower they're willing to sell, please let me know :)

Many thanks!

I think she's quite darling! She appears to have mlp-like eyes, and a letter "B" as a symbol.. looks as if it might be from a Barbie set? If anyone knows where she's from, please let me know  ^.^

While I'm posting, I saved a pic a while ago of another little cat, but silly me forgot to note where it came from..

Pony Corral / Quick Question for those who own G4 Plumsweet
« on: April 10, 2014, 08:40:13 AM »
Is the light pink streak in her hair fading pink?
I swap my display ponies every month or so and have brought out Plumsweet today, only to realize the light streak in her hair looks very similar to my Love Melody (who's hair *I believe* is in minty unfaded condition)

Can anyone confirm if her streak is prone to fading? The room gets quite a bit of sunlight during the day so I'm a little paranoid :/

I recently learned that FIM's animation is done in a Philippines-based studio called Top Draw. Overseas studios animating popular cartoons is certainly not news, but I always figured this eventually died down in the early 00's when digital animation took over?
The reason I ask is that I'm interested in a career in animation, but, if most tv series' are sent off to be animated in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and so on, how does one make a career out of this?

I've been to my local Toys R Us and back 3 times this morning, trying to find a decent Rainbow Rocks Deluxe Rarity pack. I swapped her twice and no improvement, pretty disappointing :(

The doll was fine, but the pony had the same issue in each of the packs I opened-- the neck seam was a mess. Gaps galore, and an ugly bulge around her neck where it meets the body, yuck.

Above is Rarity number 2 (I didn't take a pic of the first one, but she was exactly the same.) Below is Rarity 3, the one I ended up keeping:

By the third pony, I didn't want to go back yet again! It's not so obvious in the photos, but the 'swelling' goes all the way around her neck like a ring  :yucky:

As if the neck isn't bad enough, the Rarities all had an issue with their face.
The face is wider, yes, since it uses the new head mold, but when did her snout start, er, melting? Her mouth is nowhere near as crisp and pronounced as any other G4 I've seen. Her nostrils are almost invisible. I've tried to get a clear pic:

So, did my TRU just get a bad batch, or are all the new Rarities like this? I'm in Perth, Australia.
I'm thinking of trying another TRU, but if they're all like this I won't bother. So please let me know, those of you who bought this set, what is your Rarity like? As for mine, guess I'll be hiding that unsightly neck seam with hair for now :p

Pony Corral / Hasbro favouring Blind Bags // The future of G4 brushables
« on: August 05, 2013, 09:06:27 PM »
Is anyone else disappointed that lately Hasbro have been putting so much effort into blind bag/mini collection ponies and still neglecting brushables? As much as I adore BB ponies, and the many new molds that are currently surfacing, the more I see of them, the more I'm reminded that we still only have 2 poses for brushables, and haven't had a new character for some time other than Wysteria and a few babies.

I just can't love those little chunks of plastic like I do brushables, no matter how show-accurate they make them. And you can't brush their hair and style it to make it your own. I sincerely hope brushables aren't "over" and that we see the variety they deserve before the whole G4 line is over  :(

I'm sure most of you who have ordered the new Mrs. Cake brushable on Taobao or Ebay may have noticed a few little differences about her head compared to the other G4s. I've included some photos for an easy comparison with a regular G4--in this case, Cherry Berry :)

- Her head is raised slightly higher than any of the other brushables. I personally think this is cute and adds a little variety

- Slightly chubbier face! (edit--Taking a second look, it appears Sunset Shimmer also has the same chubbiness in her face as Mrs. cake, except her head isn't raised.. huh.)

- Very noticeable mold lines on both sides of her head. I've tried capture it the best I could on photo but it really is more noticeable in person to the point where it's kinda annoying x[ I might have to use a bit of sandpaper to smooth it out. There was not a seam in sight on previous G4 heads.

I'm curious about these little changes and wonder if they'll carry on into future G4 brushables? (I hope the mold lines don't x[ There's another thing to look out for when inspecting a G4 before purchase)  But the other changes I'm okay with. Irks me that while they're making subtle changes like this, we're still not seeing any new overall poses. But I guess you never know!

Pony Corral / Sunfading - Am I going about this the wrong way?
« on: March 08, 2013, 06:46:16 AM »
I have a handful of creamy and stained ponies that I've been meaning to whiten for some time now, and after reading several tutorials, I've decided to finally give sunfading a go!
Because there are no suitable windowsills inside, I tried to come up with a way that I could keep the ponies outside for several months without worrying about the wind, rain, insects, cats and other little things like that.

So here is my setup--

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

First off, am I doing anything that's a complete no-no? The ponies are hanging off the line in plastic sleeves-- is it safe to leave them in there for as long is it takes for them to whiten? And will it work through the plastic?

My other concern is that I've used clear sticky tape on the ponies' symbols and eyes, so that I could colour over it with a sharpie to cover the paint. I've heard of she sharpie idea working well, but has anyone had any success working with clear tape? It wasn't particularly sticky, but if it does leave any residue, would it be a problem or will it come right off? (Those with glitter symbols --Baby Glory and Baby Moondancer-- have their tape over them upside down, so that the sticky side isn't touching the symbol.

Thank you for any help, I hope it all goes well!

Wanted! / Sweetapple's wishlist :D
« on: November 06, 2012, 08:45:23 AM »
I've recently sold off my small collection of G1s I had found at garage sales and such, and want to start fresh. I've had a long and hard think and decided that I only want a small number of G1s (the ones I truly love the best :) )

So here is my list. All ponies are US, except for Starflower, whom I would love to find the darker blue Italian version.

Adult
US Gusty
Speedy
Sweet Tooth
Blueberry Baskets
Confetti (Posey pose)
Italian Starflower
Seashell

Babies
Baby Starbow

I live in Australia. Also, can only send payment via Paypal, sorry!

Thank you kindly!

..and now wants me to pay for return shipping.. I shouldn't have to pay return shipping for a mistake they made, should I?

The auction was for 3 ponies--- Skyflier, Satin n' Lace and Blue Belle. It clearly stated, quote from listing--

*Blue Belle  ('82, Y1) is an ash-blue adult earth pony with lavender hair and blue eyes. Her symbol is a pattern of twelve blue stars of varying sizes.  She is in the Flatfoot Pose. Bluebelle was re-released in Year 2 as a Collector Pony. Flatfoot ponies were the first My Little Ponies, printed in Year 1, in 1982. All of them were printed in the same pose -- the Flatfoot Pose -- with their heads facing forward and down. Their name derives from the fact that they were the only My Little Ponies made so that the undersides of their hooves are flat rather than concave. All of the ponies in the Flatfoot set were reprinted the following year in the Collector Pose, which is very similar to the Flatfoot Pose but has concave feet and longer front legs, and stands with the head held a little higher. The Collector Ponies were otherwise identical to the Year 1 Flatfoot Ponies: their names, colors, symbols, accessories, and packaging were all the same.

FF Blue Belle was the whole reason I bid-- She is one of my all time favourite ponies and I really wanted her Flat Foot version, so I was thrilled when I finally found one in a lot with some other ponies I was after.

So I received the package this morning and was disappointed to find she was a concave instead of FF (now I have 2 concave Blue Belles!)

I wrote to the seller kindly about the situation. She replied, though I can't make too much sense of her explanation
---

hi, i looked on the bottom of the foot & it said '82 so that i put Y1. the information also stated about the othern type of foot so. if you are unhappy with your items please return them at your own expense per Ebay rules & i will refund you your purchase price. the other alternative is that you can keep the items & i can give you a 10% refund. thank you for your time.

So I am expected to pay for the return shipping or receive just 10 per cent refund? Surely that can't be fair :( I'm a little unsure how to go about replying now. What do ya'll think?

[moving to TS ~ I am sure you ll get some great advice over there ~ many thanks ~ hathorcat]

Poor pony, just look at her odd face :( Of all the funny looking pony plushies I've seen, I think this one takes the cake. Does anyone own her or seen anything similar? Is she even a real MLP? For some silly reason I didn't even think to check her tag
