Pony Corral / Wow! Major blast from the past!
« on: October 23, 2013, 10:14:58 AM »
So my sister visits my Grandma fairly often, and last night after a visit, she came home carrying a huge, though thin box. She handed it to me and I was instantly flabbergasted. It was a G1 MLP board game I used to play with when my Grandma babysat me! WOW! I honestly haven't seen this thing in years, and until now I had completely forgotten about it!

Sadly I don't have any photos and a quick ebay search found me nothing, but it's called Pony Round Up, 3-D Stand Up Game. The game originally features 13 different ponies (Medley, Firefly, Glory, Bubbles, Lemon Drop, Peachy, Applejack, Blossom, Twilight, Bowtie, Moondancer, Seashell and a blue unicorn with white hair and a sun as her cutie mark...I don't know who she is!), though I only have about half of them, and the '3-D' builds up two little hills with a waterfall as well as a stable. It's so cute! I remember I didn't even play it as a board game, I just used the set up as my own little ponyland to play ponies with

The poor game is so run down and falling apart, but I absolutely love it! Has anyone heard of this game, or maybe has photos to share?

Customs / Repainting eyes?
« on: October 21, 2013, 10:57:43 AM »
So, I FINALLY found my Mrs.Cake and Twirly Treats set! YAY!  :frolic: It had always been my intention to only keep Twirly Treats and sell on Mrs. Cake, but now that she's here...gosh darn she is so cute!

But her eyes. Man. Her EYES. I really, really can not stand the design they gave for her eyes. : / I know the basic idea about removing her eyes and painting her new ones, but I've never painted such fine details before and I don't have a steady hand in the slightest. I'm afraid of making her look worse than she does now! Your opinion, should I try anyway? Find a customizer? Do customizers tend to simply tweak one small thing like the eyes? I'd love to give her a new name and turn her into Cupcake's twin sis, but I'm nervous about ruining her!

Help!

Hi! So I'm trying to get a headstart on gift shopping for the holidays this year, and I'm focused on my little 2 year old cousin right now. She absolutely LOVES carousels and merry-go-rounds, and I thought it would be super cute if I got her a little carousel toy that she can spin around and play with at home. I'm only concerned however since a lot of the toys I'm finding come with a lot of little parts, or seem a bit delicate (she's a little immature for her age). But I don't want to get her an outright baby toy since, well, she's a big girl!

So I was wondering, since a lot of people here seem to collect other types of toys, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm especially trying to find Mickey Mouse carousels since that's also her favorite, but I think anything with pretty horses would do.

The Dollhouse / Sending out dolls for customization?
« on: October 16, 2013, 03:32:36 PM »
So, I've been out of the BJD community for quite a long time. I'm trying to slowly ease my way back into it by completing some of the dolls I already have, and this starts with giving some of them face-ups. I've found quite a few artists whose work I admire, but I find myself very...VERY nervous to send any of my dolls out. Of course I would insure them and be careful that the artist was trust-worthy, but most of my dolls would be impossible to replace if anything were to happen to them as their sculpts are very limited.

I know an option is to customize them myself...been there, many times, don't like it XD Trust me, I gain absolutely no sense of personal satisfaction in attempting to paint them. So...advice? Before I used to try to stick to artists only in my state, but there are just SO many talented artists out there I don't like limiting myself! I still would want to stay in my country, but the US is quite big!

Pony Corral / Can I please see ALL the pony buildings? :)
« on: September 07, 2013, 09:38:18 PM »
So, I've got absolutely no space and no money. But somehow I find myself daydreaming more than ever about building a little town for all my ponies <3 I know about Paradise Estate and Dream Castle, and my personal favorite, the the perfume-bottle shop (eek! What's it called again?), but I know there are SO many others out there from ALL the generations (I also really like one the nurseries from the Newborn cuties line), and I certainly don't have a clue about them all!

So please, can I see all the buildings from any gen you have for your ponies? Preferably not the Ponyville sets since those are too small for anything much bigger than blindbag ponies, but really, I'd just love to see your shops and homes and castles! <3

Pony Corral / Please show me your loveliest ponies...
« on: August 20, 2013, 07:40:12 PM »
So, you know that feeling when it seems like your best friend wants absolutely nothing to do with you and you have no idea why?

I do.

I've been trying to distract myself from breaking down and crying by going to my bin of flea market ponies and cleaning them up. There's something relaxing about taking an old dingy pony and doing your best to make her beautiful and loved again.

Can I please see your prettiest and primped ponies? G3's are preferable but any generation will do. No need to show "before" pics if you don't want, I'd just really love to see some pretty ponies that have been given a new chance instead of just being tossed away in the garbage.

Pony Corral / The nice thing about Pinkie Pie...
« on: August 09, 2013, 12:12:30 AM »
...is she'll never be difficult to find!!

So, somehow (through no fault of my own ;) ) I have somehow wound up with 3 FS Pinkie Pie's, all different versions of her. I was planning on regifting the standard Pinkie to my cousin (packaging her up with black tie Pinkie's car), but now that I'm looking at them all together....I realize how different they all are!

Oh dear  :drunk:

I really don't want an army, at least not of Pinkie, but I just love what a soft shade of pink standard FS Pinkie has for her mane and tail. She's soooo tempting to keep! But I know I don't need three Pinkies (and black hair Pinkie was the ONLY Pinkie I wanted to keep! Except now even the black tie pinkie is looking tempting to keep...I had no idea her hair was two-toned!)....

What to do!    I'm just so glad that if I regret giving her up, a regular FS Pinkie won't be difficult to replace!

Off Topic / Fashion advice? Tights!!
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:23:14 AM »
Hello ladies (and gents), I'm here with a predicament. I really really love the look of tights since they're so classy and look more grown up than socks. My problem is the FIT. I'm not plus-sized but I am admittedly very very pear shaped and I'm one of those kinds of people who just can not stand any sort of pinching or pressure around my waist at all. This makes finding tights a problem.

I'd love some suggestions on tights that truly stretch without feeling uncomfortable. I always make sure to buy the next size up, but once even when I bought a pair TWO sizes too big they were so tight and icky I took them  off the second I put them on!! I've been told that dancers tights can be very comfortable, but when I look up reviews on Amazon I keep reading that the waistband is very pinchy on a lot of brands. Of course the brands themselves are going to say their tights are super duper comfortable but clearly that isn't always the case. The only brand I've found that I truly love is Legale's fleece lined tights, but they're a bit difficult to find plus they are so warm (what with the fleece and all) I can't wear them during the spring or summer.

I would wear thigh high stockings to avoid the problem but they too never seem big enough for my thighs and always roll down  >_<

Medley- First up we have Medley! This little lady sadly isn't in the best of shape. Her markings are quite a bit faded, she seems to have some marks and possibly pindot mold on her and her hind leg is a tad bit squished. Still, her hair is very soft and she's still got the cutest face!

Rainbow Dash-This beautiful girl is just lovely! She has some teeny white marks on her display side along her tummy, very small and she still displays very well. Her hair is absolutely perfect!

Strawberry Swirl-This cutie looks like she's covered in teeny tiny freckles! Don't worry, she most definitely does NOT have mold, but just some super tiny specks on her that look almost like glitter. It doesn't cover her entire body, just a little around her hooves and neck.

Unnamed Pony-I'm not sure who this mystery pony is, but she is absolutely perfect! Her body is completely flawless and her hair is super soft and smooth. She looks like she just came out of the box!

Sunny Daze-This sweet gal would be completely mint were it not for some very faint smudges on her front left leg. Still, the marks are very light and the rest of her is just beautiful, plus her hair is simply gorgeous and silky!

Blind Bags-Time for some G4s! All these little darlings came straight from the packaging and one lucky winner will win all five ponies which include Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle and Firecracker Burst!

Thank you all so much in advance for your support. Not to veer too much off topic but this really is all for the dogs and our efforts for their continued care and protection. If you'd ever like to help out more and or offer your support please don't be shy to post on our facebook page!

Good luck!!  :frolic:

Pony Corral / So, about "black tie" Pinkie Pie?
« on: July 11, 2013, 11:40:10 PM »
Sorry if this is a really obnoxious question, and I've seen that the new glitter Pinkie Pie will be released soon, but I was wondering if I maybe missed anything on the Fashion Style Pinkie Pie with the black ballon and black/white hair? I LOVE this pretty girl and now that I'm finally succumbing to the lure of fashion style ponies I really really want to add this girl to my collection.

So, any word on if she might actually be released? Or as far as we know is she still just a prototype? I don't want to get her now and risk missing out on some cute accessories she might come with, but then, I don't want to miss out on her for a reasonable price on ebay when her price could skyrocket later.

Pony Corral / The new TRU Favorites collection?
« on: June 28, 2013, 06:30:13 PM »
I'm sorry, my search skills are really awful (I must not be typing in the right things) and since the Sticky's pictures are down at the moment I wasn't able to check there either  >_<

Can someone please let me know which ponies will be released with the new TRU collection set (or a photo would be lovely)? Is there an estimated time for when it will be released?

Thank you!

Pony Corral / How long were each "wave" of G1s sold in stores?
« on: June 23, 2013, 10:27:15 PM »
So, I was curious about that other thread asking about which ponies were made for each year, so of course I had to snoop and check it out for myself XD I was surprised to find that one of the 1989 ponies, the Prom Queen Sweetheart Sister Pony Pretty Belle is actually a pony I've had since my childhood! And since I highly highly doubt that anyone in my family went searching exclusively for a pony made in the exact year I was born, I can only assume she was actually given to me as an infant <3

Still, I found that my other childhood pony, a Baby Ballerina Tippytoes was released only a year later, so I'm once again so surprised that I would have had both these ponies since I was born, and still have them after all these years! And I got to thinking, were G1 ponies released the same way ponies are now? With each wave coming through the stores, sticking around a few months and then they were gone? Or did each wave maybe instead stick around a little bit longer, and there's a possibility whoever bought these ponies for me could have bought them maybe when I was a few years older?

Pony Corral / cutie mark and symbols?
« on: June 02, 2013, 11:45:21 PM »
So, I know the term cutie mark is primarily a G4 thing, but they're still referencing the same exact thing as a symbol-that is, those little pictures on a pony's flank. Again, they both literally mean the same thing.

Now personally, I think the term cutie mark is really adorable, so I like using it even when referencing my non-G4 ponies. Yet I've seen quite often that many folks around here seem to get a little uppity when someone doesn't refer to G1s as having symbols...why? I really don't get it. If they weren't the same thing I could understand, like when some fans confused Flutter Ponies and Pegasus as the same thing as they're both very different, but a symbol and a cutie mark? Unless I'm really out of the loop and a symbol ISN'T the same thing as a cutie mark? Or does it really just come down to G1 v. G4 subconscious rivalry?
