Pony Corral / Central California Pony Meet - Pick a date!
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:17:08 AM »
Ladies and Gents, it's that time of year again! Time to select a date for the 2014 Central California Pony Meet. If you would like to attend this year's event, hosted by yours truly, please select a date from the available choices. Please note that I have skipped Easter weekend for any religious or family obligations. Also, please understand that the date will be selected based on the number of members who can attend. I want as many people as possible to be able to come. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. More details about the meet will be posted in a new thread once a date has been selected. Thank you so much for your time and please pass along the word to other Cali ponies.

Customs / Baking clay on a TE?
« on: December 17, 2013, 05:34:38 AM »
I have a very sad looking Fizzy, who has holes in her body. I would love to give her a new lease on life and make her into a carousel pony. Would it melt her eye gems if I bake her in the oven? I would really like to hand sculpt a bridle on her but want to keep her jeweled eyes. Just looking to see if anyone has tried it before. Thanks so much!  :)

Customs / Draenei Paladin "Summercycle" and Baby Menorah
« on: December 02, 2013, 06:15:03 AM »
I finished two customs recently as gifts for the holiday season and I'm very pleased with how they turned out.  :P

The first is for a friend and fellow WoW player. It's a custom of her Draenei Paladin Summercycle. She asked me to make her wearing the Jade plate armor set. Her armor, hair, horns and tail were all hand made out of Sculptey clay.

The next one is a little surprise gift for my cousin, who is Jewish. She's always loved my customs and so I decided to surprise her with this little girl I named Baby Menorah. She is made from a DG fakie and rehaired in Brilliant Moonlight from Dolly Hair.

So, a little bit ago, I saw a lot posted up on eBay at a great price. I BINed it and paid right away. The listing itself was less than 10 minutes old. About 30 minutes later, I received an e-mail that my purchase had been refunded.  What the heck!? So I get onto eBay and send the seller a message asking why I had been issued a refund. This was his response:

Dear mlp_jahlila,

I'm so sorry, but some of the ponies in this lot were gone when I listed it. I am so sorry for the mix up. I was going back in to cancel the listing when your payment popped up. I have been researching what to do, and this is it. I have already refunded your money through Paypal. This lot is not available. Some of the ponies have already sold. Again, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you

Needless to say, I am a bit miffed over this, as there were a few ponies in that lot that I wanted. Then, before I can respond back, I get another message from him:

Dear mlp_jahlila,

I'm so sorry. Some of these ponies were already gone. I was about to cancel the listing when you paid. I'll need to cancel. So sorry for any inconvenience. I used the wrong pics and info. Again, I apologize.

Is it just me, or is he trying to cover his tracks and avoid a neg by apologizing profusely? I'm really angry over this. Why would you post a lot with ponies that were "already sold" in it? It makes no sense. I can honestly say I've never left a neg for anyone but this has me really angry. Should I leave a neg? He has issued me a refund and sent a request to cancel. Can I still leave feedback after I agree to the cancellation? ARGH!

So, I bought a pony on a whim last night. I stared at the auction before I finally decided I wanted it and clicked Buy-It-Now. Right after doing this, a message popped up saying the seller required immediate payment or else another eBayer could purchase it. I've come across this before but since I always pay right away, I don't pay much attention to it. I woke up this morning to a message from the seller saying that the shipping was quoted all wrong and that I owed another $21.00. I had a feeling the shipping was off because this person is from South America and $4.00 seemed a bit cheap. I checked my PayPal and there is no record of the transaction anywhere. Ebay shows it's paid for but my receipt hasn't posted. Now the seller said he is going to request the difference via PayPal but I still haven't seen any change in my PayPal account and it's making me nervous. I've never had this happen before through eBay. Should I be worried about this? I really want this pony but I also don't want this seller to think I'm trying to cheat him out of anything.  :help: Am I overreacting?

Pony Corral / Restoration help with lot! Including a Nirvana!
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:35:45 PM »
My most recent lot from eBay came in. I could tell in the photos that they were dirty, but didn't realize it was this bad.  :(

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

These girls have suffered from years of cigarette smoke exposure and are now severely stained. Poor Streaky is tan! Even their hair is stained and discolored. The star of the lot, Brazil Sugarberry, is the cleanest out of all of them. I was told that an oxyclean soak might help them. Has anyone restored ponies similar to this? How did you do it? I want to avoid sunfading if I can and I want to make sure it's safe to soak Sugarberry. I don't want to harm her symbols or anything. Oh great restoration gurus of the arena, please share your wisdom!  :worshippy:

Pony Corral / Taming color changing hair?
« on: July 24, 2013, 05:05:09 PM »
I recently picked up a Seaflower and Shoreline and they both have super frizzy color changing streaks. I read that you can't use the boiling method on the color changing hair or else it will melt. Is there a safe method I can use to defrizz their hair without casing any damage? Thanks for reading!  :)

So I found this girl earlier today....

Does anybody have any information about these banks? I've seen the pictures of them on My Little Wiki but there aren't specifics on when they were released and what countries got which banks. I'm really excited about finding one and any information will be greatly appreciated.

Customs / "Karots" CA Pony Meet Door Prize
« on: April 27, 2013, 02:33:20 PM »
This is my second year hosting the CA Pony Meet. This year's theme is Rarity, so it's no surprise that I made a gemstone themed custom for our door prize drawing.  :)

Meet Karots! She began life as a G3 Starswirl and I received her in a pre-prepped bait lot from eBay. She was cleaned and had sculpted diamonds added to her body and forehead. She was painted with Folkart acrylic paints and sealed with Mod Podge and Triple Thick Diamond Clear Coat. She has been rehaired in Brilliant Moonlight and Death By Bougainvillea from Dolly Hair. Flat back AB crystals were added as accents and there is a necklace in the works for her too. Now, enjoy the eye candy courtesy of my new Galaxy S3!

Customs / Renaissance Faire Swap "Mischief Maker" for MoonHawke
« on: March 09, 2013, 06:35:39 AM »
MoonHawke was my partner for the Renaissance Fair custom swap. She mentioned she loved fairies and dragons, and since I did too, I decided to marry the two ideas and came up with Mischief Maker.

Mischief was made from a Petal Blossom base. She was rehaired with Retrodoll's Ultra Violet and Marina Kanekalon and repainted in artist's acrylics. She was sealed with Mod Podge and Triple Thick Diamond Coat.

CUSTOM CONTEST

This year, we will have two categories for the member custom contest: Beginner and Advanced. Each will have a different theme. We will also have a kid's category. You have between now and the day of the meet to complete your custom. There will not be any work done once you arrive.

Member Beginners: Your theme is Fakie Make-Over! Get yourself a fakie and make it look pretty. You can make them into Hasbro releases or into an original design. Let your creativity flow! :) Only one custom per member can be entered. Cannot enter into both categories.

Member Advanced
: Your theme is Glamorize! Using any generation combo, make a glamorized version of a Hasbro released pony. (i.e. Make a Masquerade out of a G3 bait and use gemstones and glitter to decorate, etc.) Only one custom per member can be entered. Cannot enter into both categories.

Kid's Customs: No theme! Let their imagination go wild!

Ribbons will be awarded up to 4th place and winners will get to pick a prize from my prize shelf.

**************************************

Before we get to registration, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) We are pet owners. We have two cats and will have a puppy by the time the meet is here. We are hoping to have the animals out of the way for the day, but there is no guarantee. We will clean as best we can too. If you have pet allergies, please be prepared.

2) Our house is kid friendly but not kid proof. If you would like to bring your kids with you, please remember to keep an eye on them. We love kids and don't want them running off and getting hurt or into something they shouldn't. I will provide some kid-friendly activities for them to help them feel included. And remember spouses, parents and SOs are all welcome too.

3) If you aren't 18 or over, please have parental permission to attend or your parent/guardian with you. I do not wish to be held responsible or blamed if you drive here without permission. I do not condone lying or sneaking away to come to the meet.

4) We will be serving lunch and beverages. If you are 21 and over, we will have wine or spirits available. Please have a driver or limit yourself if you intend to drink.

5) Please feel free to bring any ponies/merch/other toys you wish to sell. It's always fun to find a new addition for your collection.

6) Civility is a MUST! Last year's meet went off without any problems, but with an increasing tension between old collectors and FiM collectors in the pony community, I feel this must be addressed. We all love the My Little Pony line, regardless of what generation we prefer, and we should all be able to speak about what we love. I will not tolerate bashing other gens, snarky remarks or foul language. If any arguments or fights break out or if any of the previous listed is heard, the offending parties will be asked to leave the meet. Let's all show we can be accepting and open to everyone.

Now, on to registering! If you are planning to attend, you MUST fill out the form below and PM it to me. It will provide me with the vital information I will need to make sure this meet is enjoyable for everyone.

Name or Username:
Are you over 18?
Number of people you're bringing (including yourself):
Any children in your party?
If yes, genders and ages (for goodie bags):
Any food allergies/dislikes?
If 21 and over, favorite wine/mixed drink (optional)?
Favorite generation (for prizes)?
Will you be selling?
Will you/your kid(s) be participating in the custom contest?

If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE don't hesitate to PM me. That is all for now. I will be posting updates as they come. Thanks again, everyone!

Pony Corral / 2013 CA Pony Meet Poll!
« on: January 04, 2013, 05:30:14 PM »
Ladies and Gentlemen, it's that time again!

It's time to start the planning of the 2013 California Pony Meet. This year, I wanted to take a poll to see which day would work best for our potential attending members. Last year was my first time hosting a pony meet and I thought it was a blast!

Quick notes: This will not be the official pony meet thread. That will come later on near the end of the month or once I feel we have good results in the polls. Also, any new members must be aware that I live in a small town in the central valley. I know many of you may be too far away to drive in for the meet and for that, I am truly sorry and hope that you will be able to attend a pony meet closer to you in the near future.

Along with this poll, I would like to announce that our theme this year will be:

RARITY!

That being said, please feel free to discuss anything you would like to see or do this year. I am always open to suggestions on games, food and entertainment. Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing and hearing what everyone comes up with.  :lovey:

Trader & Shipping Support / Stupid eBay checkout!! Can I fix it?
« on: November 30, 2012, 08:06:40 PM »
So, I broke down and decided I'd buy myself a belated birthday present. I was so happy when I came across a pony I've been pining over for a long time and at a good price. I also just realized the seller is a member here too. :) So, I decide to BIN it and use Bill-Me-Later to pay for it. I get to checkout and....... Where is the Bill-Me-Later option? It's nowhere to be found. I leave the checkout page and return several times and nothing. So now I'm miffed and worried because I don't want to not pay for this. So, I use paypal with what little funds I have left. Now, I know this may be a stretch and probably not likely, but is there any way that I can cancel my payment and then try to repay with Bill-Me-Later? Has anyone else had a problem with trying to use Bill-Me-Later at checkout on eBay? The seller does accept it and the reason I want to use it is because I need the money in my bank account for Christmas presents for my nephews and niece. If it's not possible, I'll figure things out. Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.
