I pre ordered the TRU favorites collection and have been anxiously awaiting it. My white Celestia is due to be here Thursday, but I got an email from TRU saying:

I don't know how long it will be before they "become available" but it seems to me like they should have sent the ponies to people who pre ordered them instead of shipping them out to stores. So frustrating! :( Did anyone else who pre ordered the Favorites Collection get this email??

I think you and I are in precisely the same boat............I just got the email.
My white Celsetia should be here tomorrow or Thursday, but now I have to wait however long for the favorites.
This is far more upsetting than it should be.
Hurumph to Toys R Us. This is pretty unacceptable, I haven't seen the favorites pack in either of the 2 tru's near me yet but this is truly unfortunate.
Pre-order was placed on July 11th for both. Ugh I'm so frustrated now. >.<

I'd love to know, also I'm pretty sure we couldn't cancel the pre-order either as we will already be receiving the "free" item in a few days.
Unless the prorate the rest of the cost of Celestia which would add another 20 dollars bringing the total for her to 31 dollars ......... what the heck!

They vanished from the site in the middle of the bogo sale back in July.
Pre-orders closed (aka the page for them went bye bye) sometime after the 12th when I ordered mine.
I think i remember the page being gone like the 15'th or 16'th or so when I told my friend about the sale.

Gosh! You would think pre orders alone would have given them a nice indication of popularity.
Not the first time we have seen them, and other retailers act this way unfortunately.

Yup, I got the same email. I'm so mad that this and Zecora are out in stores, but they can't manage to honor their pre-orders :( And there aren't any easily accessible TRUs near me, so I'm stuck waiting.

I got the email for this and the zecora I preordered. I am going to be writing a very unhappy email to TRU as they shipped to the stores instead of filling their pre order obligation first. I suggest we all do it. Mass emails makes for quicker response.

I am writing to you for some emails I received for 4 items I preorderd stating that they are now on backorder. I want to state my displeasure as I am a member of the My Little Pony forums and have received word that many TRU around the country are stocking these items on their shelves. It is very displeasing for me to know that TRU does not fulfill their pre order obligations before they ship all of their products to their stores, making the people who have already paid for their items wait indefinitely for a product they already paid for. I would have asked for a refund, but know that the products are not yet in a store near me.
I demand to know an ETA for the products I have already purchased from you.

I got the same email and this morning I got a second that stated that if they couldn't ship it in the next thirty days, the order would automatically be cancelled. So we might not get it at all. Wasn't the point of preordering to make sure we got this popular set?

Ok this is weird....I got the first email, then I got a second confirmation email saying my order was being processed. When I look up the status of my order on the TRU site, it says that it has been "located in stock."

They just sent a confirmation to me as well, but it is for only one of the two sets I have under the same order number, but no word on the two zecoras I ordered.

I have never ordered ponies through TRU, only MH, which has never been an issue (except for being overpriced, of course!) What the heck is the meaning of "One Color" in the description on the last email?????

I'm in the same boat as elish, I think. I ordered two of the Favorites collection and just received an email that one shipped and the other is backordered. Pretty sure this is a way to collect double shipping to get back at me for getting a $40 set "free." ^^;

If they did not think the bogo through that is their own ault. Of course I bought two high priced items to get one free. That is not the consumers fault tat they included te items in the bogo, as not all Mlp items online were included in it.

Oh the joys of dealing with toy companies. Backordered items can take a while sometimes. Hopefully everything will work out okay and it will arrive when they anticipate you should see it. Sorry, I know thats frustrating.

I got the first message this morning also, but not the next two. I think this is a good sign that they're fullfilling these orders. I got the first two messages for my Zecora order.
Perhaps they're placing these on backorder so that they can fill online orders first without having the stores make more orders? I know some stores have gotten them in. Maybe they were early orders.

i think a lot of people are getting the emails. becuae they sent them to the streos. i dont think they were supposed to go out yet those that got sent to the stores were proably store pick ups. and instead of doing that.. they simply put them on the shelves. that is my best guess here.

I just got a msg about backorder on zecroa too. When I ordered her, there was no backorder msg.
She is the only pony coming out that I have to have, if I don't get her I will NOT be buying anymore new pony toys from Hasbro. I've just had it with Hasbro!

My Zecora status said "back-ordered" for a long time, but now it says "Special Order: Awaiting inventory". So maybe that's a good sign?
I also got the new back-ordered status for my Favorites Collection too. But someone just posted that they got a back-ordered status email, then an email about cancelling the order if it doesn't ship in 30 days, and then right after that they got a shipping notice that their order was processing. So it looks to me like TRU is finally sifting through our orders and straightening things out. At least I hope that's the case!

Right, I just spoke with Customer Service at TRU, and I was assured that it's not the case that orders will just be canceled due to lack of stock and that I will get the items I ordered. ... and, I find myself trusting the person I talked to, but nevertheless I'm still freaking out a bit. This really is rather ridiculous to have the items showing up on the shelves while those who preordered are empty-handed.

I also got a message about a backorder from Toy R Us and Babies R Us (which I read as babysaurus, lol) concerning my Zecora. I don't believe that TRU understands what a preorder means. :P :P

We got the two emails so my wife stopped at our local TRU and bought one just in case they cancel our order. Really poor management of these pre orders by TRU. My daughter would have been heartbroken if we couldn't get one.

I cancelled my order for the Favorites Collection and White Celestia last week after I found Celestia in-store. I feel like I'll get the Favorites Collection quicker if I just stalk my store every week.

I've heard about kmart pulling stuff like this with cancelling orders, but I've never had this with TRU...I hope everyone gets theirs (including ME!) *hooves crossed*

Eek, this is worrying. I was desperately hoping to secure one fo these sets for my youngest daughter's birthday next week so I have trade buddies in New York, Dallas and Phoenix all looking for me, but so far none have found this set. If it's going to make it to me in time via international post then I need to find it and have it posted in the next two days. Order delays are a worrying because it suggests their stock levels are low right now, so there's every chance I won't be able to get a set in time. :( Pony feathers. Time to start looking for a plan B gift I think.

What is the point of pre ordering? :( He said there was an unusually high volume of orders. I think they should have foreseen this. My Little Pony brand and FIM have a HUGE fanbase, plus buy one get one free? Yeah, of course there will be a ton of orders. They should have been more prepared I think.
I would suggest to anyone who has pre ordered to go ahead and buy one if you see it in stores. You can always return it if the other one comes in. This just has me so upset :sad:

That is highly frustrating! I thought pre-orders were done so a company could prepare enough of an item that they think is going to be high volume?

That is just BS. They shipped to the stores before fulfilling their pre order obligations....
Per their own policy it states they are to ship the items once the release date hits. Not backorder everyone because they decided to ship to some stores first.
"Pre-Order items are available for purchase on the Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us website in advance of the manufacturer's general public release date. Pre-Order items are shipped directly to you once the stated release date arrives and you will be notified of your order status via email. You will not be charged for any item until it is shipped to you. Expected shipment time for each item will be shown in your cart. What they are trying to do is make you pay for both items by cancelling your orders and making you go into the stores since there is no more bogo.

I didn't think of that! They would certainly make more money that way. I bought the favorites set and got white Celestia for free (she's due to be here tomorrow) I wonder how that will affect my order. Will they make me pay for Celestia?

Also by the way this illegal as it is a bait and switch tactic and is a form of fraud.

Yeah, I heard of people doing that with Beanie Babies back when they were really popular. A store would sell them for like $3 each and after the purchase, they would contact the buyer and say they made a mistake, that the Beanies were really for $6 each.

ahhh figured it out. Those who ordered them on the bogo are receiving emails that only one of the preordered items have been shipped...and it is the free one. They are trying to avoid a mass lawsuit by giving the free item so as not to be hit for fraud.

I just went to TRU today and picked up the Favorites set. I was able to cancel my Favorites Collection preorder over the phone without it affecting the free Celestia which had already shipped, I also did not get charged for any shipping.

This is so very distressing. I can only get to tru once or twice a week due to my work schedule.

I'm patient and don't at all mind waiting but not having the peace of mind that I will get them is just out and out wrong.
This is exceedingly unfortunate that they did not properly fulfill the per-orders.
I paid for shipping for both items with my free Celestia.....this is just not an easy situation from any angle.

Well, I saw the favorites collection at TRU today and quickly snagged one with the fewest factory errors. I haven't canceled my order yet; that's promised to my room mate since he can't afford the collection at the moment. Still very frustrated though, and wondering if I'll be getting Zecora or not... :(

I don't know why Hasbro can't just get it together with preorders. I mean, I know it's not something painfully difficult to organize, but it can't be THAT hard to keep track of your records...can it?

I also got a backorder notice on the collection set. I did however get the white Celestia today.
I'm just going to have to check a few TRU on the way up to the VA Pony Meet this weekend and see if I can find the collector set. If I do find it I an always cancel my order.
What kind of ticks me off is I ordered this item back in July. I thought Pre-order was for a reason now I'm kinda wary on ordering anything from TRU now on Pre-order....cause what is the point if they're arriving in stores before I get what I ordered a month in advance?

They seriously need their act in gear... I took your advice and went to Everett and Alderwood TRUs and they had the slot for Favorites collection BUT ALL GONE!!!!!

I work at gamestop and I believe there is an algorithm for determining the number of extra copies of a game we need for in store purposes when compared to the number of preorders. For example, Sleeping Dogs at our store only had about 15the preorders because people didn't think it would be big. We are required by company policy to ensure that the copies preordered are set aside for the customers that reordered and we have the remainder for sale. Typically one copy extra for every 3 preordered. This gives us a good range at the expected hype for a game. We still ran out of extra copies, but that was because not enough people preordered at our store. If tru would do something similar they could come up with the average of extra sets they would need based on the popularity, much like what Hathorcat said. It doesn't make logical sense to offer a Preorder service and not uphold to it. Technically, preorders are a advertised goods and denial of advertised goods when ensuring a product is pretty bad customer service. This is so frustrating...

I'm sorry to hear that the people that pre-ordered aren't getting them FIRST. I just walked in to see if they had Venus McFlytrap (MH doll) or the Princess 3 pack, but there sat the collectors set. And I got it. :/ Thats just dumb Hasbro...

To be fair, I don't think Hasbro is taking pre-orders for this are they? I was under the impression TRU was taking pre-orders through their site. Hasbro, as the manufacturer, just makes the stock according to the order TRU places with them, which would have been determined a year ago in all likelihood, when they negotiated this exclusive. If orders exceed demand, then it's up to TRU to commission more and Hasbro will go make 'em. That's my understanding of the process anyhow.
Doesn't help me get mine of course! LOL.

This is insane. It's like they set up a pre-order and then completely went against the purpose of a pre-order, which is to ensure that they have enough interest to stock the product. I think it's been established there's plenty of interest!
I can't help but be suspicious that this is somehow being affected by the BOGO offer. Did too many people order 2 of the product? Did TRU not expect this? Did they decide it was more important to get products to stores than to fulfill people's 'freebies' orders? Oh to be a fly on the wall at the TRU processing locations!

Sounds similar to the coupon offer they just put out. The $5 off coupon was supposed to be good until today, but they removed it from their Facebook page yesterday. I'd be upset if my preorder got cancelled while other people were picking up the item in store already. Note to self: never preorder from TRU!

I got an email reply from someone at TRU and she basically just blamed it all on Hasbro. She wouldn't even take responsibility for the fact that they were the ones that screwed up and just said there was nothing she could do because it was the manufacturer's problem.

Ugh! I checked my order status for the favorites collection today and it says back ordered! I also got that email too! It's not fair that stores are getting them before pre-orders! :pullhair: The only reason I pre-ordered was because I knew this was going to be a very popular and HTF item in stores! (and also because of the BOGO). TRU should've known that based off of the amount of pre-orders! I wanted to guarantee that me and my sisters will be getting our sets but I guess not. :( At least I can look forward to my Zecora coming. :)

Well I got my shipping notices forthe favorites and white Celestia but they last minute back order on zecora I know my tru has gotten at least 5 of the favorites sets so I might have to go pick up extras for people who missed out.

And this is why I don't preorder things at TRU.com. Preordering should mean you get the items before they're available in stores, not after. Thank god I didn't ask my dad to preoder them.

Probably the wrong thread for this, but if there's anypony out there that would be able to help a dad out in landing one of these for his daughter's birthday next week, I'd love to get her a set. This set isn't going to be for sale in New Zealand, where I live. Only thing is, being interntational, it'd need to be in the mail today or tomorrow to make it in time. I pre-ordered a Zecora and received the back-order email the other day. I emailed TRU's customer service two days ago and still haven't gotten a reply. I'm definately never going to pre-order from TRU ever again.

So I reached my limit with Hasbro and TRU. I am going to cancel my order with TRU, so I bought Zecora for $39.95 free ship off ebay. I don't care I had to pay more--its worth not having to deal with Hasbro and TRU.

Wow Hasbro and Toys R Us aren't mom and pop organizations, it does seem strange that I wasn't able to pre-order since the pages were taken down and yet was able to pick up both within a week of each other (zecora was there on the 8th and the favs was there the 15th). Of course it did require multiple trips to various stores but I enjoy the hunt and now have a Nightmare Moon on my desk.

Slightly off-topic, but doesn't it seem odd that 2 big name retailers have essentially done the same thing within the same week? Best Buy failed to honor pre-orders of Jaws on Blu-Ray and put them all on the shelf instead.

I hadn't received the "backorder" e-mail for the Favorites collection (I did with Zecora though), when suddenly today I got a surprise cancellation notice on the Favorites out of nowhere. For reference, I have already received my white Celestia in the mail, I did NOT preorder it with the BOGO deal, and last I had checked, the status of the collection was "In-stock: awaiting shipment" or something along those lines. Not happy.

According to my order info, I placed the order for Celly and the favorites on 6/22/12. :( I hate going to TRU because the location is terrible and I feel like I'm going to get in a car accident any time I try to go there, but a trip is in order today now.

Mine came today, however...I got it off of ebay. The thick box was absolutely crushed thanks to USPS I'm sure...so Nightmare Moon's part of the box looks horrendous. No pony flaws though.

I got mine too the same way! It was in a gigantic box and it was open!
Still only one of the two I ordered. I think I might cancel, but I have to be sure they are up here in Near me first. I swear I need to take a pic of how the stores around me offer so little MLP stuff. Barely anything, it is hard for me to get stuff.
My Zecoras are listed as waiting for stock...well I hey didn't ship all their stock to the west coast stores, I would have mine!

Well I got my Fav. Set today but no Zecora. My set was in great shape. All I can see is Pinkie has head/body color mismatch but no biggy for me.
I called again today about the zecora and sadly they still can't give me a date :( She hasn't been to my local TRU either...she is the one I Really want!!

I asked this on a different thread but our TRU that had the favorites set now does not only not have them, but they have removed the shelf price sticker. For those of you that work for TRU, what does that mean? Does that mean they won't be getting anymore?

The stipulation said one per customer. So I seperated it into two orders, hence being a customer twice. Not sure if they will cancel one though, but that was my reasoning on it.

I think I saw someone mention that something similar had happen with MH - for the were twins - the tag was removed and then came back along with the stock.

All of the TRUs I've checked haven't even had stickers for Zecora or the Fav Collection. I think you guys on the West Coast somehow got them earlier than you were supposed to. Have any East Coasters found either set yet?

This is absolutely unbelievable! The level of disrespect towards the customers is truly baffling :S I hope this is all just a bad joke on their part and that all of you get your orders and soon :hug:

My Zecora is on backorder and I never did get to pre-order the favorites set. Neither are in my local TRU store.

I just picked up the Favorites set in Nashville, TN yesterday. I haven't found Zecora or Lyra and the other girls yet.

Went to TRU last night and they had two of the favorites set. I'm due to get mine in the mail tomorrow though so I didn't pick one up. They had no Zecoras or stickers for Zecora either. Hopefully they'll get her soon!
I didn't see Lyra and the others, but I did pick up the scooter set with Rarity and Daisy Dreams and the BB wedding set :)

I am on the west coast and got the set and Zecora but there was no price stickers for either at any of the stores we saw them in and got them at.

Yay, just got a confirmation email that they are processing my zecora order!

According to my order status, the free fav set is expected to arrive today, but the one I paid for says "You can expect to receive your item(s) between 08/27/12 and 08/29/12". At least it updated!

I got the notice that my Zecora will be shipping soon!!
My Favorites Collection is still on back-order. If they cancel it, they'll be hearing from me, because I got in on the BOGO and it would be real shady of them to cancel that order like that to force me to pay full price.
I'm in central Indiana and one of the TRU's here had the Favorites set for a very short time. To my knowledge, we haven't seen Zecora in the stores yet though.
It's possible TRU are removing the product tags when the items are out of stock if they either don't have any more on order, or the order has been placed on hold by Hasbro.

Got my Nightmare Moon set today, same issue with the box! Huge box, one piece of tape that was holding it had come apart and you could see right into the box! Everything was okay though... now the night will last FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

(on a non-evil note, TRU really SUCKS and I'm sorry for anyone who didn't get their pre-order. If I happen to see any at my store, I will scoop them up. So far nothing though)

Thank you and it is a an very day mantra at work especially on truck days when we find large pieces of furniture on top of crush-able and breakable jars of baby food.

Okay gang - time to chill I was able to get the SKN today and there is a HUGE open order for my regions DC alone, plus I imagine that the other DC's will have similar open orders. To honest with the size of the order for our DC alone we could take care of every collector posting here five times over. Our DC alone is expecting over 2,000. So yeah chill time gang.
So I would take a deep breath and give your TRU a break till next week and then you can start calling and asking if they got them in. When you do call, give them this SKN 802180 and they can check.
Also someone asked why the shelf tag was no longer there. We are supposed to leave them so we can mark they are out of stock but not everyone follows that rule. Also if other new merchandise came in they might have just ditched so they would have room to put it.

The reason the box is so big is that we only have certain size boxes. So if that is the closet size they can find that it fits in that is what they ship in. They will then fill with air packs. All stores are now set up to ship from store, so if online is out of something and we are the closet store to have it in stock we ship it out. So we get an assortment of boxes which for most part do not fit anything well and often have to do the same thing, use a huge box to ship something out.

Nah we take photos when it is really bad and joke other times, then figure out how to get the stuff off the truck so we can stock it out.

Gosh, I hope so, Diamond. We had two on order (one for me and one for my husband), and they sent us the WRONG items. Talk about a very unhappy unboxing. :(
Since the item number was removed from TRUs website, and the store couldn't find the item either, we just had to return them and get refunds- no exchange possible. So I have been trolling our local TRU, with no luck. Now that there is at least a SKU I have hope that I might be able to snag one without resorting to ebay.

Well, I got a shipping notice for my Zecora, and my Favorites Collection has arrived. I have to say, I am really sad about the way they cheaped out on DJ Pon-3 and just printed over the regular unicorn eyes. It looks terrible!

This. I haven't seen the set in person yet, but that was the first thing I noticed in people's pics of her. The fact that you can still see the eye outline through her glasses really bothers me.

I got mine yesterday, yaaaay! It was in a HUGE box, lol! Only slightly crushed though ;)
I'm happy for you guys that Zecora is starting to ship!! :)
Edit to add that I'm also very disappointed in DJ Pon-3 (who is a boy in my herd) The glasses don't even go all the way around the eye outlines, bleh!

Why I understand your frustration with this quality issue if they had done a new mold or retool to do just that one pony you would be paying twice what you are paying for this set. I appreciate to you die hard FiM that it is horrible but still Hasbro is overall marketing this to kids as well as collectors (it is being sold at a toy store after all) and are keeping an eye on there bottom line. Not saying it makes it right, but maybe it will give you some insight as to why.

I wish they gave DJ some glasses that weren't painted on.
I'm having a horrible time opening the set up... I'm going to cut myself on the plastic or with the box cutter, it won't budge.

I'm not really a "die hard FIM" fan, I just don't like poor quality in my ponies :) And honestly, I wouldn't mind paying more for better quality. Without a mold retool, they could also have just made some plastic glasses for DJ Pon-3 that would look better than the wonky print she has now.

I wrote them to let them know that I was disappointed in the way this was all being handled, with pre-orders going unfulfilled while stores are getting new stock of the same item. I flat-out asked them if my order was at risk of being cancelled because I got in on the BOGO deal. Here's the response:

I told them again to NOT cancel my order, that I would wait out the time limit since some people are slowly getting their oders filled. I asked them to forward my comments on up the ladder. This was handled poorly and a lot of their good customers are getting jilted, and this is feedback TRU needs to hear if they're are sincere about their customer's feelings.

My second BOGO Collector's set (the non-free one) shipped yesterday. So TRU has now completed all my online orders.

We know that's bull because Diamond has said that there is a massive order for them. I really think they are being pushy about cancelling because of the bogo. Their mission is probably to get as many orders cancelled as possible, so there's less they have to fill and less money they lose. So of course they are going to lie.

The canceling of bogo orders is pretty nonsensical. I along with many others I assume had the favorites pack as the more expensive item. I was already shipped my "free" White Celestia.
So if/when my order is canceled they will be losing money not gaining any at all unless they up and charge me the 20 bucks for her. Which would be incredibly shady as they already charged me tax and shipping for the entire order. I'm at a loss here >.<
I check at least twice a day to see if the status is ever not "back-ordered" this is far more annoying that it needs to be. My order will be auto canceled on the 7th so hopefully something lucky one way or the other will happen before then. I'll keep checking the tru's near me in the mean time.

I think maybe the guy just didn't see the item on the website and assummed it had been discontinued. There was a small mixup like that when I called TRU's phone number regarding Zecora.
My second set from the BOGO shipped earlier this week; hopefully more of you will get similar notifications soon.

Well... it could be considered "Discontinued" because Hasbro had the factory make, what they made... and that's it. No more going back to make more...
So whatever is on, or was on... that slow boat from China... is IT... *shrug* Who knows!
I just want them to show up HERE already! My TRU said there were 56 at the DC... but only 1 or 2 TRUs in the Valley have gotten them at all (and of course, they are goooone...)

Ashlyne you should try calling and see if you get another customer services rep. It wouldnt be the first time the same question was answered differently by Hasbro.
With the number Diamond has mentioned as coming in to stock not to mention this is a product which is clearly working for them and the bizarre shipping of FOC items before the "paid" for item, I would suspect they have indeed had more orders than they thought therefore its taking longer to fulfil them than planned. This is also probably why its not online - they are stocking stores and sending out orders before they start selling them online.
Often customer service reps are working to the same website as we shoppers are! So if the item is not showing up "online" the advisor may have assumed it was no longer available and hence discontinued.

They each got a total of 4.

My order has finally shipped today. It's about time with everyone finding them in stores already. Basically defeats the purpose of pre-ordering if you're not going to get them that much sooner. I'm just glad it actually shipped though!
