Could you resist?

I've always asked this about myself, and I had to know what others would do.

If you stumbled upon a G1, of any kind, still MIB...would you be able to resist opening it? I'm the type who has to touch. I like being able to brush a pony's hair and just be able to pick it up if I want to. While on the one hand it'd be awesome to find a vintage toy still in the packaging, I don't know how long I could just sit in the corner and rock back and forth before finally screaming and tearing that sucker open. I have very little self control.

I'd have to open it.  But I also peek at Christmas presents.

That is a really difficult question. I don't think I could resist not opening it. But it depends on what kind of pony it is. If it is a really rare pony I think I could resist not opening.
But as you said it would be a lot of rocking forward and backward

The only ponies I have in the packaging are the 25th anniversary ponies. I just didn't have the heart to open them and ruin the packaging because it's so pretty. But everything else...yep...all open.
 
 I would never think that I'd find vintage toys still in the packaging, but it can happen, and I'm as dreadful of it as I am hopeful of it.

It would be hard for me to do, but I wouldn't open it.  I would trade/sell it to someone who collects MIB though, because eventually the temptation would be too much!

I would not open a MIB, but I wouldn't keep it for myself either. I'd sell it and use the money for loose ponies

Probably what I'd have to do, because I'd crack under the pressure.

It'd be pretty awesome to find two of the same ponies MIB. Then you COULD open one without feeling incredibly stupid.

 Not opening it would drive me mad most likely because I love all my ponies to be set free but on the other hoof if it was something like a Nirvana I'd never open it, It'd seem to special. Not that decarded ponies are not special but you get the picture. I also though crazy every day would not open if it was a pony I have already. I would want to open up a origanal G1 because I never had the chance to and I wonder what it would be like. So yah I'm all over the place here.

I have a couple of MIB G1s and I've never been tempted to open them. Any G1 pony MIB is rare.


On the other hand, if I had two identical MIB ponies I would probably open one of them. I would have a loose mint pony and it would make the value of the other go up slightly! xD

I'm not sure how finding 2 MIB would make opening something rare more acceptable...I found 2 MOC babies and kept them for a while, but eventually decided to just sell them. I got money and only spent a small portion of it to buy those ponies loose, and a MIB collector got two more things for their collection. All around, everyone was happy.

I would never open a G1, unless the box/card was in terrible shape.

I just got my first two MOC, I thought that I would want to open them but I have no desire at all!
First of my Bf would get sad, 'cus the looovves MIB/MOC, and well I love it two ^^
I evan have my G4 in their boxes, but that just 'cus I'm affraid that the tiny parts will run away from me

As long as I was keeping the pony for myself, and I liked the pony, I would open it.
(As far as I'm concerned it's off the market forever once it gets to my hands, so I'll do whatever I please).

I would not tell anyone here because that seems to make people very upset.

Deboxing/decarding seems to be a touchy subject.  I really have to open everything I buy, so I avoid buying in box ponies because I know there are a lot of collectors who love MOC ponies, and probably feel it is destroying a small piece of history if you open the box.


If I did end up decarding something, I would keep it a secret, so that Arena members here wouldn't chase me down and tell me off  [size=78%]![/size]

I´m like you Elusive, I also would not enjoy a MiB pony. however, I would never open a G1, I would rather sell/trade it to someone who would appreciate it the way it is. there are plenty of loose ponies for me to enjoy anyway, and just so few of MiB/MiP left
