Pony Corral / Re: Retro ponies, Heart throb
« on: September 13, 2020, 03:11:41 AM »
Oh interesting. I actually ordered both.🙈  I asked in a Swedish MLP Facebook group and someone posted a photo of a new and old Heart Throb. Can definitely see the difference. Didn't think about the tail of Sparkler, just that the mane wasn't curly. I'll might have to search for the originals anyway then. (Of course it's more fun with an original pony but I don't feel like searching for it.😄)

Pony Corral / Retro ponies, Heart throb

Hi!

Main question: looking for photos of the retro Heart throb that aren't official. Also, is it not Hasbro that make the retro ponies anymore?

I haven't been here in a long time and haven't bought a pony in a long time - original or retro. Did get Starshine when those retros came out and now I got interested again when I saw they had released Sparkler (hard to find a good original one). While looking up Sparkler I saw some other retros I wanted. But I feel there's something off with Heart throb, besides the mane not being curly. Does anyone have it and can compare it to the original?

Very pretty. I did definitely not have that. I would have remembered.

Was this during the 80's? For me it should have been ca. '84-'88, most likely '85-'87 to narrow it down some more.

And you're also from Sweden! Hm, wonder if it was something local, like those mugs?

Thanks. Not the ones I were thinking of but also, I don't know of this is a real memory or not. I asked my childhood friend and she didn't remember any sneakers, hm, but those horse shoe patterns feels so vivid.

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes, pictures would have been nice. I've seen the roller skates on the internet but not the shoes.

Not sure if it was me or my friend that had them because if they were mine they would definitely still be in my possession today. :)

Pony Corral / MLP 80's sneakers?

Hi!

Haven't been on here for ages, not even just reading, so an extra hi.

I was wondering, were there ever My Little Pony sneakers during the 80's with a horse shoe pattern on the soles? My mind might be playing tricks on me.  I was out walking in my sneakers and there were tracks from horses on the path and I remembered, or thought I remembered, that I had MLP shoes as a child in the 80's. True or false memory? I usually have a good memory but this one is a bit uncertain.

I have her. Saw an ad for probably "my little ponies" on an auction site, it was Sweet Pocket and two fakies, I sniped and won. This is the before photo, I never took an after photo and to be honest her pink hair is still messy. :P The colour is good but it's frizzy. This is my first and only precious pocket pony, I was surprised that she was bigger than the regular G1s. I was too old for ponies when this set came out. I think my favourite of this set is Bunny Hop.

I'm an only child too and yes I got many toys when I was little, I also have a tendency to get overly attached to things, so I loved most of them. I say most because sometimes you got things you didn't like or wanted, like dolls.... *shudder* However I can still feel nostalgic even about the things I wasn't fond of. Guess I'm "nostalgically wired" in general, if you can say that. I have my childhood toys stored at my parents' and I had to go through them all searching for lost pony items a while ago. :)  Speaking of that, I still get really sad over toys that I have lost, MLP ribbons, an MLP sticker, the boxes I threw out as an adult etc.

Do you know if she's been treated with benzoyl peroxide? Maybe that could have caused the yellowing? It doesn't explain the dark spots though.

I haven't sold much so can't help you with my experience but out of curiosity, did the person keep something or was everything sold? If everything was sold again, then ... weird. If not, maybe there was just a thing or two they wanted to keep?

Also, is there a MLParena FB page?

Pony Corral / Re: Show me Moondancer!

I'm a bit nostalgic about her because she was in my childhood friend's heard. She was one of the first ponies I got when I started collecting but it wasn't my intention. I was going to get a SS Buttons and the same seller had a Moondancer so I bid on her too just to "save on shipping". She looks whiter in the photos than in reality. I did sunfade for a short while though since she had yellowed.

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 8/31/2013 Moon Jumper
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:21:29 PM »
When I first heard about her I just loved the name or perhaps more the symbol. Luckily I got her from a friend who had Moon Jumper in her childhood collection. ^.^ The pony was in a bit of a mess when I got her but she cleaned up well. I eventually got rid of the stains by sunfading. Unfortunately I haven't taken a photo of her with the stains completely gone where she's not wrapped up in tin foil yet
