The head body mismatch could've been from anything... honestly - if she does have cancer spots in her body it could perhaps cause the whole discoloration. I don't know if a table lamp would really cause that...

Aw, looks like cancer to me...age alone can cause yellowing, but unfortunately it's plastic degeneration that causes cancer...some say a contaminant...either way, it isn't good.  Not contagious to your other ponies, so that's good news.

Is the lamp hot?  If it warms the plastic of the ponies, it could case issues, but probably not at such an accelerated pace.  Sad she's yellowed, it doesn't really seem to be something common with Scoops. . .?  I remember a couple years ago with the restore contest, a gal had a Scoops who had been left outside FOR YEARS, and the pony was still more or less white once she was scrubbed.  Faded, but white.

Thanks guys yeah I had originally thought cancer but then I was worried it might be something worse. It's odd she was perfectly white 2 months ago. You can only really tell when your close to her.. The lamp in question is a standing beside lamp. It's about a couple feet off he ground and she in direct lamplight however the scoops next to her I have two. Is perfectly fine.  So she is ok to put back with my other ponys? Is there anything I can do to slow this down? Thanks..

Do you know if she's been treated with benzoyl peroxide? Maybe that could have caused the yellowing? It doesn't explain the dark spots though.

Hrm, that looks really odd. I agree with those that said it's probably cancer. Are you going to try to sunfade her? That might help bring her back to more of a white color. It might even fade those black marks. I've had a lot of luck sunfading a BnG Bouquet in a pitcher of hydrogen peroxide. Her body was badly discolored to the point where some spots were tan. With a couple of weeks in the window, most of the discoloration (including cancer spots) were pretty much either gone or very faint. I don't think your pony's spots are contagious, but you might be able to minimize their appearance with a bit of sunfading if your're up for it.

As for what caused the discoloration, I'm completely stumped.

The spots look like cancer, which is not contagious to other ponies so she'll be fine standing next to her friends. As for the yellowing that seems common with Scoops, I've had a few that have yellowed bodies and white heads...it's a shame.

Looks like just regular yellowing from age, although, yeah, that IS fast. I would try sunfading, although those symbols are going to be a pain to cover.

Yeah I also wondered about a prior treatment to her body causing her yellowing...

I have also seen far more "faded white body" Scoops than yellow out there... but it's weird that you say she was white just months ago? That is just... odd. But it's not totally abnormal. I have seen that before, a pony I know was in a certain condition, gets stored for a while and comes out with new issues... I think it's inevitable with some of them being more prone to issues than others...

I agree the dots look like cancer of some kind to me as well unfortunately.

As for the yellowing, yes just time and general exposure to the air/environment will cause that. However in this case there is obviously some kind of catalyst or accelerant involved. Its an odd question but have you perhaps taken her anywhere that there is some pollutant in the air or even where there is smoking? If no to both of those then I would not be surprised if perhaps she has had acne cream on her at some point in her past and sitting beside a map has probably increased the speed of discolouring.

She is a great pony to have though and I am sure she still will display lovely. A lot of white ponies tend to be any shade from off white through to yellow :) She is certainly not the only slightly discoloured Scoops in a collection.

My thought was smoking or air freshened or cleaning supplies? I haven't seen a yellowed scoops ever. Hmmm the mystery continues!
