I, too, am severely ashamed. I thought we were better than this. It shouldn't be this tight when you look at the two candidates. I did vote, though, and I'm very pleased with who took our state(California) at least.

On the other hand, this country doesn't deserve nice things anyway. We had President Obama for 8 years and people still managed to make it seem like he ruined our country, as if they forgot who was in office the 8 years prior to that.

I mean, I would be lying if I said I didn't sometimes think that America had its problems with sexism and racism as someone who's female and Latina, but I never thought that it would be this overwhelming. Also, the bigots, misogynists, and racists see this as their last chance to leave their mark on the country. Also, too many people want to take a bomb to Washington, and that's what Trump is in their eyes.

And this is what is so scary.

Even though I'm well aware of the amount of sexism, racism, etc. present in the USA, I didn't think that someone like Trump who wears all of these with pride could possibly actually win an election.

Even if somehow he doesn't win (very unlikely at this point, sadly) the damage has been done. It speaks volumes of this nation, and it is not only disheartening but incredibly scary.
