Who is the best/scariest G1 villian

To me Tirek will always be the top G1 villain. After I had not seen Rescue at Midnight Castle for many years I still found Tirek to be scary as an adult. Grogar is probably the 2nd best villain to me.

Who do you think is the best or scariest G1 villain?

Tirac for sure!!!! He's the *best*.

They're not exactly scary or "the best" but I've always liked Erebus and Zeb, too. Not sure why, but there you go. I like Somnambula a lot, too.

Tirek is best, hands down. 

To me the second best villain would probably be La-Vahn.  Extremely creepy design after he turned into a crystal being.

Tirek! Still just as scary as he was as a child, unlike some villains he has a real 'presence' to me

Somnambula. She turns you old and wrinkly in the space of hours. So underrated.

My favorite though is the smooze  and the witches who created it. Such personality.

Definitely Tirek. Even adults find him creepy (I know I do)! It's that voice. And the way he first appears in shadow. And the way he casually threatens to decapitate a small dragon. And turns ponies into beasts of darkness....I could go on.

I think my second favourite is probably Grogar. I also like the idea behind Erebus - stealing shadows/souls is pretty scary - but he's a bit more comical in person. Zeb always makes me think of the kind of smarmy creepy sort of guy that kids are warned against going off with - maybe that's the idea.

Must agree, Tirek and Grogar are the best ones, the witches from the volcano must have a place since they are always trying to do bad things, even when there's no hope for them to succeed (trying to get rid of the flutter ponies twice...)

Tirac definitely had a great presence.  That voice, that design, the fact he turned ponies in monsters and threatened to behead babies.

However, I think the prize goes to Grogar as I see it.  That conversation with Bray about how he wanted the humans for their hands showed him thinking.  He was also one step ahead the traitors in his midst and used them to capture the ponies.

La-Vahn was also a great villain (sang his ode to power while standing in exploding volcanoes).  Crunch also made for a good (kid-friendly) survival horror monster.  Erebus had a good and creepy idea behind him and his hammy execution made him all the more macabre.  There was also the terror from the deep, Squirk.

As for best, I'd say it's a close tie between Grogar and Somnambula.

Grogar's episode had great writing, but I didn't find him scary because of his design. He looked a little doofy.  Wish I could see the Tambelon episode in RAMC style animation.

I would have loved to see the entire series in the style of RaMC.  Even for the main series, they handed what was arguably their strongest script to AKOM's worst animation team.  Michael Bell is also no Victor Carole.

I wish "The Return of Tambelon" had been the movie instead of what we got.  It felt criminally rushed in four parts.
