The new "Gaurdians of Harmony" toys
« on: September 14, 2016, 06:32:06 PM »
Anyone else think that the new "Gaurdians of Harmony" toys are extremely good looking, especially for Hasbro  :)  I actually own one (the Celestia, to be exact) and it looks pretty good. Funko is good, and all, but their figures were always just standing strait, no movement or anything. These new hasbro ones look really amazing, they are in a perfect action pose. Yeah the paint isn't as spot on as the Funko ones but it's pretty good. It's unlike hasbro to make good figures for once  :P  not sure what you guys think, but this is just my opinion.

I think they have potential.
Though Twilight Sparkle still looks crazy angry.

They: You're too old to watch that show!
Me: Can't hear ya, I'm asleep.

I think they are kinda weirdly aggressive, but I do like a lot of the sculpts and they look like fun toys for kids to play with!

I love Celestia & Nightmare, and these two seemed to be aimed towards adult collectors. Not so much a fan of the movable action figure types, but that's because I like ponies for display rather than play :)

I love how they're in action poses; I do like Funko ponies but I am tired of all the same-same passive standing poses. I always dreamed about getting Celestia in some sort of action pose, and it actually happened. Not only that but she's 8 inches high! And an 8 inch, show-accurate Nightmare to match? I love this line. I'm glad they came out with something a little more innovative. I thought I was done buying pony merch until these came out

I can't wait to get Nightmare Moon, maybe Princess Celestia, and definitely the set with the Changeling!  Oh, and Chrysalis.

So many pony toys.

Very tempted by Nightmare Moon. Is there a Princess Luna one too?

Very tempted by Nightmare Moon. Is there a Princess Luna-I one too?

No actually they haven't released a Princess Luna one that I have seen. I wish they would because Luna is best princess   but they probably will in the future. It's strange that they would release a Nightmare Moon first because (as far as toys go) they haven't really focused on her :/

I really love Nightmare Moon! She looks amazing.  I got Celestia even though her head is kinda weird and she looks demented- but still the rest of her is cool.

What I want now is a PILE of the changelings- I want a changeling army but don't want to have to buy the set with Twi in it.  I guess the factory making these is doing a better job keeping a lid on the factory rejects since we haven't seen swarms of them on Taobao and ebay (have we?)

Agreed 100%. I think it's really weird to focus so completely on aggressive stances with this line. Why does Twilight Sparkle have a sneer and attack wings..? Why does Chrysalis come with a KNIFE from crying out loud!? The 'guardians of harmony' are pretty quick to jump right to physical confrontation for the solution to their problems, apparently.... Wasn't this show supposed to be about the magic of friendship?

But they do look pretty cool. The sculpts are dynamic and the proportions, which were pretty wonky in the early models, look much better now.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

Not even the Transformers have these kinds of aggressive expressions and stances, and they've been fighting a war of annihilation for millions of years.  I think the stances and expressions are compensating, like you can't believe ponies would fight unless they're grimacing.

???

Transformers totally have those aggressive expressions, and they are poseable so you can pose them punching each other in the face, LOL.

Also, this was the face of the most goofy, cheerful, light-hearted Ninja Turtle:

I look at Transformers and it seems more like a glower than a grimace.  Not as intense as the expression on Twilight.

And I had been thinking of the Ninja Turtle's grimaces.  So, I guess that's what the Guardians of Harmony are Ninja Turtle...ponies.  Also, that's quite an arsenal, Mikey.
