« on: June 16, 2015, 02:54:50 PM »
I purchased a Barnacle with the idea to bait him as my OC Sailor - (here)

His hair is fried - He has other issues (pictured- and not pictured)-

Like yellow stains and some pen marks on his bum /tips of ears. I could alt rehair but he the color in body I need for Sailor.
Is he baitable ? Or should I alt  rehair him ?

Alt rehair at most for me I'm afraid. However, Barnacle's hair is almost always like that, so personally I'd probably sell him on and keep looking, I know it's a nuisance

He's your pony of course, and you can do whatever you want with him, however I would not bait or even alt. rehair him if he doesn't at least have age marks. Big Brothers are so hard to find in decent condition.

I actually think he's fine.  :)  I don't think his hair needs to be touched - a deep conditioning and some styling and he could be looking mighty handsome.  :)  It's still got lots of the original wave to it.  It's a bit tricky to get it back to the way it's supposed to be, but completely doable.  (BTW...I'd be interested in restoring him if you're wanting a new home for him.  ^.^ )

I have some good conditioner, about how long should I leave it in?  And what about a hot oil treatment ?  Go or no go?

He has pen marks but no age marks, I bought him for about 20.00 (including shipping in that price)

I agree with the others, he looks like all he needs is a bit of conditioner. His body looks bright and his hair looks pretty decent for Barnacle, so I personally would leave him as is and find a worse condition one to customize.  ;)

ps: hot oil I wouldn't use... I usually leave conditioner in for an hour or so before rinsing out and styling.

pss: your OC is cute, I hope you find a suitable bait soon.  :)

Honestly, I leave a GLOB of conditioner in overnight until the hair has dried to almost a helmet (comb it through w/a large tooth comb).  :P  Then rinse w/cold water.  There is a way to restore the wave set to his hair, if you have some straws, rubber bands, and napkins.  Takes a bit of practice and patience, but doable.  ^.^

That is actually a pretty nice condition Barnacle.  I most definitely would NOT use it as a base for a custom!  :(

I cringe to think of using that Barnacle as bait. He's beautiful! So often the blue color of him and Quarterback fades to a dingy blue-gray.

He's your pony, so do what you like and maybe its not apparent to us but it looks like a deep conditioning and maybe a touch of paint on those yellow spots would make him all handsome again. On the other hand I also think he'd look fantastic as your OC pony and I'd love to see him brought to life.

Definitely no on the hot oil.

I say no. He looks pretty nice, especially in color. He's nicer than the one in my collection at the moment-- I think.  If you decide to bait him though, I'd love to take his tail off your hands.

I think most of his bad hair day hair is because it needed a good wash with shampoo - It's got much more soft with it. I will do one more conditioning treatment with him but his hair is much better already.   I can see why , when I bought him, he had 8 watchers being newly listed and more people viewing him.

that barnacle is in GREAT condition.
Please look for one with symbol issues, age marks, and worse hair issues (his looks normal)
