This thread has definitely helped me get motivated -- now that I have a bunch of dirty ponies on my kitchen counter I have to clean them! ;) I don't plan to make the dishwasher thing a part of my normal routine -- it was just a little experiment. I think it was a big success for me, but again I will stress that I used really, really simple dishwasher soap with very few chemical ingredients (honestly, the stuff I use has only about three ingredients total). So if one were to repeat my experiment with whatever dishwasher soap one has lying around the house without looking at the ingredients, there could be drastically different results!

Also, the dishwasher pretty much just removed the top layer of dirt from the ponies (and any dirt that was inside -- though that sea pony is still pretty dirty inside!), so I'll still have to magic eraser them.

I simply find that the temperature lends itself very nicely to ponies who are smothered in pin dot mold.  The warmed plastic has way more give to it then a quick dip in boiling water.  But yes, I definitely am in agreement as far as using as few chemicals as possible and making sure the settings don't get TOO hot.  :)

Ringwraith, try denture tablets for inside your sea pony.  Or a bit of mild soap, some baking soda and vinegar.  Either way, foamy pony.  ;)

Hmm, thanks for the suggestions! My stepfather has dentures. I'll see if I can get any from him. ;)
