Saltwater Aquariums
« on: April 09, 2015, 06:31:43 AM »
I have two saltwater aquariums, that I absolutely love and wondered if anyone else had aquariums?  I think it is so relaxing and fun to sit and watch the fish. My real love is seahorses! I currently have three and I love them. I just started up a second aquarium just for seahorses and similar fish. I am planning on getting pipefih too! I would love to hear about or see pictures of anyone else's tank, saltwater or fresh :) I would also love help picking names for my new tiger tail seahorses. I don't currently have pictures because they are shy but they are black and white striped. I think they are both females.

This is all of the fish in my other tank eating. I do plan on eventually moving Beauty to the seahorse only tank.

Im soooo incredibly JEALOUS!!! :lovey:

I have always wanted a SW aquarium, even if its just invertabrates! I love love loooove saltwater. Seahorses are actually tied with foxes of my top favorite animal!!! To have a saltwater aquarium with some sea horses....aaaaaahhhhhhh. *is dreamy* I used to livein Florida so the ocean was my backyard and i long for something of home here in north texas.

Yours looks so incredibly nice! SW tanks require tons of work and maintenence and yours is just right!!! I love the lil' snails!!! <3 ever consider or own sea stars!?  Love the tiny sea stars when they.... make babies! xD I go to Petsmart and they are all over the tank walls!

Ooooooh a gulf pipefish is a superb critter!!! I think your aquarium might be very compatable with a pipefish!!! One was very friendly to me!!! My dad took me scalloping back in 2006 and i was terrified because it was my first time in the open ocean. I was petrified when i got in the water because i was scared of sharks and jellies!! Well..... this little guy what looked like a piece of dancing sea grass came up to me and it looked like a straightened out seahorse!!!!! He followed me around as we went scalloping oooommmgggg it was SO freaKing CUTE!!!!!!!

I love all the snails! I also have a yellow tang, 2 clown fish, a diamond goby,3 peppermint shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, 4 feeder shrimp (nothing in my tank eats them), 2 small horseshoe crabs, many hermit crabs and a serpent sea star, oh and a small emerald crab and a few soft corals. I have a lot of very small brittle sea stars and a few of the  small White Sea stars.  I love your story about the pipefish! Too sweet! I am actually fortunate enough to live about 2 minutes away from a very nice privately owned fish store. She said she is going to order pipefish and should have it tomorrow    My sister just got an 8 year old blue tang for her 110 gallon aquarium. It is huge and beautiful. I just love the aquariums!

Your fish are all so gorgeous!

I love seahorses too- and actually have always loved saltwater tanks, the fish are gorgeous.  But it sounds like they can be VERY tricky to keep- I would be really sad if they died.

No fish here, but I have had a few betta in my life, I prefer cats, and would get a tank just for moths and butterflies.

Unfortunately seahorses can be difficult to keep. I lost four of mine in 2 weeks, when I first got them    It was a learning experience and it made me not want anymore for a while, but I can't help myself. I love them. They should do better in a species tank, but it is sad when something happens to them. That's the worst part about fish,  never knowing how healthy they are and not knowing they are sick until it's almost too late.

I've had betta fish and a few fresh water invertebrates before. I work at a pet store and sell only freshwater fish, and being around them all day is so tempting..but I'm more of a reptile/cat person. x)

I'm really impressed, from what I know saltwater is very hard to do and your tanks look amazing!! Have you ever thought about cichlids before?

I've always loved the idea of having a saltwater aquarium one day! I've heard that they can be a real challenge to keep healthy, though, and I just don't have the time for something so high-maintenance right now (or the space, either!).

I love your seahorses, though - I'm so jealous.  ^.^

I absolutely adore your seahorses! I've never been brave enough to attempt a SW tank, but I've got my gladiator red bellied piranha, Ursula. She's a spoiled diva with refined tastes...

Ooooh, seahorses! So pretty  I would love to own an aquarium one day as they are so soothing and I can sit for hours by one if I get the chance. But I don't think I would do well with maintanance so for the fishes sake I will do without.
