Hasbro needs a Disney Infinity/Skylanders type game

And not just for new MLP figures. Well, I mean yes, JUST for new MLP figures. But they should really develop a portal type game. Think about it. With just the big three alone they have enough figures to develop a franchise game. MLP, TFs and GI Joe. They could expand out into DLC, incorporate things like Jem, use several generations of figures. Have an adventure/puzzle game and an interactive sandbox world. Man, I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

I have a hard enough time not getting into skylanders at work! I work at gamestop so I get to look at them aaaaaaaaaall day. I just now got over the "gotta catch 'em all" pokemon disease on the G4 line.


But really, they could do something similar. It could work. They could even make an interactive board game with things like this.

That IS a neat idea! I could see it working for TF and GI Joe, but since video games are (wrongly) considered 'boys only', I could see Hasbro skipping the ponies. HOWEVER! As a girl who grew up playing video games, I really like this idea, and hope it comes to fruition WITH ponies

Definitely yes.  Ponies and Transformers could so use a game like this to its fullest.  And, when it's time to unplug, you have the traditional ways to play with the toys.

I know Hasbro tried something similar with Transformers Rescue Bots. The Beambox or something like that... Not sure if it was exactly the same principle as Skylanders but it did have figures you scanned into a console. I don't think it went anywhere, though.

it would be a cool idea if they REALLY wanted to push for it, though. I'd love to see a lot of Hasbro's various properties intermingling. I think it could work for girls, too... Disney Infinity has Princesses AND Marvel heroes for their game. If they're willing to mix those two I think Hasbro could as well. They'd be crazy NOT to include ponies since they are well aware of the huge male fanbase FIM has.

But no, they'd love a new way to make new cheap plastic figures even more lucrative. Someone should tell them to do this.

As a total video game addict, I'd be so on board with this--provided it was made with quality and integrity, rather than created as shovelware because it's being marketed to girls. (Rant Incoming): For whatever reason--and in 2015 there should be *no* reason--game developers think they can slack off when they are making a "girlie game". Like female gamers don't deserve quality or are perceived as being too stupid to realize how lousy stuff in the games industry that is made for them actually is. (Rant over).

Despite any misgivings, though, I think it could be successful and fun if it was not viewed as a throwaway project.

I've never gotten into Skylanders or Disney infinity, so something like this probably would not rock my boat one way or another.
