Ants have infested my Funko Octavia D:

We've had a few nasty instances of ant invasions at my boyfriend's place, recently. A few weeks ago they completely coated the inside of an old glass Coke bottle I was using as a vase (it had no flowers, but I'd previously put a little sugar in the water to keep them alive longer. They had formed a bizarre raft of ants across the surface of the water). Then, the other day, it was a seemingly innocent wooden box (all over the inside, complete with carrying their eggs.) Earlier this morning, we found some living in the front door. And now, it's Octavia D:

We put her in a plastic bowl with some Ant-Rid crystal stuff to kill them all off. They're getting inside her body through the seam between her white collar and her hair, and there are a lot more than there are in the picture, too. It was a horrifying thing to discover. This is a pony! One of our favourite ponies! Why?! Could they be after the sugar in the glue, I wonder?

They might also be looking to set up a base inside her.  I know ants were moving into the solar cells for our outdoor lights once because they had empty spaces to store eggs, larvae, and pupae.

Yes you're right, she would make an awesome base for an ant colony.  I don't know about the ants where you live but we have black ants that are a nuisance but don't bite, and red ants that can bite humans and just give a little sting.  Most annoying for children playing on the ground.  Most annoying is how they dig out the sand and soil from certain areas and then you find you've put your foot in it or a greenhouse has collapsed etc.  But they are nothing like as bad as the ants you get abroad.  Unfortunately I dislike them very much,  and I am not very Buddhist about getting rid of them.  I used Ant Stop Bait Stations in my last address, where I had a ground floor address with weak foundations.  I'm not proud of it.  I caused a watership down scenario for those ants.  But I can't abide them.  So good luck and thanks for a very funny post!  That picture absolutely turns my stomach

Oh no! Poor Octavia. And poor you and your boyfriend! Hopefully they will abandon Octavia, and the house, for good.

Can ants freeze to death?  Is it possible to put her in the freezer?

That is so strange! I feel your pain. Ants are really bad where I live....I am constantly battling them through the summer. The worst is when they get in the car!! I have never had them get on a pony though! I would take it outside and submerge it in water for as long as it takes until all the ants are dead.

Freezing is typically a good way to kill insects that are in something small. I would avoid an insecticide bomb unless you have a major infestation, and even then, I'd have an expert come check first and see if their are more targeted options you can use. Fumigants can be dangerous and aren't appropriate for all kinds of infestations. And yeah, I agree, looks like they were trying to move into your pony...weird.

I know this problem well.  When we moved into to our current home we had such an infestation of ants you wouldn't believe.  They didn't touch my ponies though so this is odd.  I can suggest using ground cinnamon to pack into whatever hole they might be coming from. It's nontoxic and they'll probably just find another hole unfortunately but it worked for me.
