I had a seller give me a partial refund for items that stank of cigarette smoke. I had to stand my ground a bit as at first he denied he smoked, then said he did, but not in the room where he handled his merchandise, then finally admitted to smoking in his workroom in the past week (pity he was such a piece of work, I'd bought from him before with no problems). If the seller doesn't offer it, I think you could reasonably get Ebay to either cover the cost of return postage or force the seller to, as they haven't properly disclosed the condition of the items and they're a health hazard.
At least she's honest and is offering a solution. If you are wanting to keep them, perhaps you negotiate on shipping costs?
