Musical Instruments! Who plays what!?

I can sorta play the keyboard but my hands aren't really big enough so I sorta gave up...

I played the cello up until recently.  I have injured a rather important finger and I'm unsure if I will ever play again.

I took piano for 8 years when I was younger. A few years ago I decided to learn to play the bodhran. My daughter's drum teacher knows how to play it, so she's given me a few lessons. It's been fun learning!

I wish I played something. I'm 26 and still think about learning something. I know I'd have to devote a lot to it and know it'd be difficult, but I want to someday. If I could afford piano lessons...

but really I'd play other things too. My sisters played the flute. I think developing talents is one of the best things to do in life. I always devote myself to improving my artwork, I'd like to branch out and do more.
Wonder how many people start this late with an instrument. lol

I've played the flute for a few year but I always wanted to sing so I'm kind of a singer now.
I've also tried to accompany myself on the keyboard once but I'm not very good in playing with two hands

I played the flute for 6 years. I was in concert and marching band through high school, which was pretty awesome. I was a total Band Geek, but it was great to have a niche to fit into.

Haven't played in about 16 years, but I think I still have my flute somewhere in my parents' basement.

Great thread! I've been playing piano for about 10 years (and as others mentioned, yes, it is the best foundation instrument) and flute for about 5 years. My whole family is incredibly musical, and my mom has also taught me to sing since I was little. Right now I'm still taking piano lessons, in high school band (second chair flute! Woot!), and in choir both at the high school and a homeschool co-op.

I play the juice harp! 
Jk  I wish I could play the juice harp.   I actually just play the voicebox but that isn't always as amazing as one would like. haha. I'm a damn good whistler though.

I've played the violin since I was 5 years old. I don't really keep up with an orchestra or anything, but I now own three violins, and its great to just pick one up sometimes and emote with it. 

I don't technically play the piano, but I did learn how to plink on it and make a tune by reading my violin music.

When I was eleven or so, I learned the recorder. I got pretty good with it, but I haven't played it in years, not since Mom moved away and took my recorder with her.

I also sing quite a bit. I love to sing and experiment with my voice and all the weird things it can do. I don't think I'll ever be a concert performer, but thanks to my early music training, I have good intonation and pitch. Music is like a second way of breathing for me.

Hubby played alto sax in high school - to this day I still love hearing the opening of Jurassic Park. Takes me back to high school when they played that song, and the alto's are the primary instrument. So I'd be in math class and hear that song and know it was mostly my sweetie I was hearing (and the other 2 altos, but they didn't matter ).

Ha we played that song when I was in junior high!  I play tenor saxophone even though I have had minimal playing time in the last 8 years.  I've been playing since I was in the 5th grade so about 17 years since I started.  I love playing movie, TV, broadway musical and pep band music.  I actually had wanted to play drums but when our class was to try out instruments at the end of 4th grade I got strep throat and had to wait until the beginning of the next year to find out what I was to play.  By then the only options left were the trombone, trumpet and tenor saxophone.  Needless to say it was not a hard choice as I have never been able to play brass instruments well due to the mouthpiece so tenor sax it was and I have loved it!  Always hated when the trumpets or altos got all the best parts though lol.

I even got to state music 2 years in high school for saxophone groups...with the same song lol.  Rules were that you couldn't play the same piece within 2 years of playing it so I played it with another guy in my class who played alto as a Freshman and again as a Junior lol.  The second time around the judge said he thought it was a little easy for us...wonder why haha.

I have also dabbled in the recorder since it is very similar finger positioning to the saxophone.

I was in chorus all the way through elementary school and then again in high school.

I play the piano. I've been taking lessons for about ten years, but I still need to get a lot better! I started when I was 18, Ponycake, so I'd say it's never too late to start! My teacher had one guy who started in his 70s or 80s (not sure how old he was).

My favorite pieces are probably the anime or movie songs I play (though my teacher responsibly assigns me more educational, classical stuff to work on my technique). I love playing "Fields of Hope" from the anime Gundam SEED Destiny and "Into the West" from The Return of the King.
